@RogueCynical because you are a new poster in these forums, make sure you prepared your BG:SoD game with DLC Merger before modding it and that you installed the mods to the game language you are playing it in.

Woops my bad, talking about Android here. Everything works fine on PC.
What used to work on Android was changing the filename of the dialog.tlk file to dialog.klt within the OBB and then the game would read the new one. Hopefully theres a way to force the game to use the new lang folder somehow!

It seems this patch has been installed in the background overnight on my installation of Icewind Dale (Android 16, Sony Xperia, totally un-modded). Previously the game worked perfectly, now it crashes on startup...
@JuliusBorisov thanks for staying on top of this thread 🙂 any ideas regarding my issue? Is reinstalling safe for save files?
On version 2.6 on Steam, my setup was that my save files where in OneDrive (more specically in H:\Cloud\OneDrive\Documents\<game name>. That was working perfectly and allowed to have backups on my save files (without the limitations of the Steam cloud save).
With version 2.7, this doesn't work anymore: my save folder and my Baldur.lya are in the root folder of disk E (in a subdirectory of which Steam and the games are installed) and save files from BG1 and BG2 are mixed in the same save folder...
Any idea on how to fix this ? I can accept to have the save files moved elsewhere (but in a location that I could choose), but I can't/won't revert from having my Documents folder saved to OneDrive (if that is the reason). I also don't want having Steam, the game or the save files on my C drive
[Edit: cloud saves are disabled]
[Edit 2: I have tried to link my original save folder (with MKLINK /D). This works for reading the save files, but I can't save anymore (at least, I don't see the save files anywhere...)
These games never supported the OneDrive Documents folder. Everything can work properly only with the non-OneDrive folder. Check out this post about setting up folders.
Understood. Thanks again. We’ve waited this long, we can wait a little longer to get everything done properly. The ball is indisputably in Apple’s court.
Welp, Apple rejected our BG2 submission for the following reason: "Design - Spam" -> "We noticed the app shares a similar binary, metadata, and/or concept as other apps you already submitted to the App Store...", "...we do not accept spam apps on the App Store, we encourage you to review the app concept and submit a unique app with distinct content and functionality."

Any ideas what's going on? How can I fix things? I really don't want to lose my progress by reinstalling...
I don't see a crash in your screenshot. I see it requires downloading files. Try under another ISP/Wi-Fi. Maybe standard troubleshooting steps for clearing the cache will help:

Thanks for the suggestion. The IWD app crashes almost instantly when I attempt to start it, as you can see here:
My first screenshot shows what is left of the app after the crash, as seen from the app selection screen of my device.
I tried clearing the Play Store cache but nothing changes, and I'm not sure what you mean by trying with another ISP/WiFi: the update has already happened, and I have no clue how to "try" it again.
Is reinstalling going to wipe my saves? It seems in the BG1 app they are left intact after reinstalling.

Huh, I updated BG2 to 2.7.3 in the (UK) Mac App Store yesterday. Unless we're talking about the iOS version?

Good grief. Apple can’t tell an update of an application from a ripoff? I see I naively gave them too much credit. Go get ‘em. In the meantime, I’ll stick with the latest Beta versions. They didn’t seem to have any such objections to the Mac App Store updates, did they?
Update: as of this writing, SoD 2.7.3.1 is available on the iOS App Store. The button still shows a purchase price, unlike the BG:EE and IWD:EE updates. As mentioned above, with the standard disclaimer, I would willingly pay for this version. When I clicked on the button, however, a message appeared that this purchase was in fact free because I owned a previous version, and I just needed to click OK, which I promptly did. Again, I didn’t have to go through this extra step with either the BG:EE or IWD:EE updates. Maybe at Apple the left hand doesn’t know what the right hand is doing. But one more program is properly accessible, which is what matters most. Now we just need Apple to get its act together on the BGII:EE iOS App Store update.

OK, thanks for clarifying! I work in software development myself, so I know it's rarely straightforward releasing new versions. My compliments anyway on allowing a grognard like me to keep playing his favourite games on new devices, and on the superb levels of communication from you and your team. 🙂

Hi ! Thanks for your answer. I can understand you don't want to support OneDrive, but then not giving any option to move the savegame files elsewhere is basically saying "If you play Baldur's Gate, you may not backup your Documents folder in OneDrive", which IMHO is a very harsh constraint.
Anyway, the culprit is not OneDrive. I have remove my Documents folder from the OneDrive backup (it is thus back in C:\Users\xxx\Documents), I have uninstalled BG and Steam, I have reinstalled Steam on disk E: (I have no room on drive C:), reinstalled BG and again, the game is loading and saving files from E:\save, E:\sodsave, reading E:\Baldur.lua, etc... This is clearly a regression from 2.6. I can make additional troubleshooting if you have any ideas on tests to perform.

They found the root cause of the issue: it turns out Windows Defender (specifically the "Controlled Folder Access" feature) was actively blocking the new version 2.7 executables (Baldur.exe, IWD.exe) from accessing the protected Documents folder on drive C:.
Because the update introduces new executables, Windows flagged them as untrusted applications trying to modify personal user folders, forcing the game engine to use the drive root (in their case H:\) as a fallback path. Adding the games to the Defender exclusion list fully resolved the issue, including the UI cropping glitch.

We're heading out for the weekend. The BG2 patch still hasn't been approved by Apple. We're continuing our investigation into crashes affecting certain Android devices when attempting to launch the game after the update. Looks like both of these issues will need to wait until next week.

Can you provide me with the files? As mentioned in the post, can you provide a method for modding .tlk tables that we can try?
If you're modding a language with gendered words, are you modding both dialog.tlk and dialogF.tlk? Send to julius.borisov at beamdog.com

We actually had a case like this during the beta for one of the users, it was related to Windows Defender:
