    Hi, I noticed that if you disintegrate the shadow dragon before dialogue starts Foundling does not appear.

    @LavaDelVortel
    Hello!This is a wonderful MOD, excepts for a few bugs I have witnessed:
    ****SPOILER WARNING!****
    1.L#inna the ability to create a magical sword for shadow adept, lacks description, which results in "invalid string" in game when you want to see the detail of this ability.
    2.L#fou4, #fou3, ambient animations in these area lacks "blend" tag, as well as the animation of a growing flower in L#Fou0.bcs (when you put the ivory seed in the pool), resulting in black borders around them.
    3.L#ADV3, the leader of a team in the area where you can activate a portal by returning two stone eyes to a statue, lacks an animation for her to leave the area with her two male companions.
    4.(MOST IMPORTANT) In the final battle against the resurrected shadow dragon, foundling in L#FCUT1.bcs was deactivated, but still remained in the area, when using AOE, foundling will get hurt and turn hostile
    PS:These problems are probably attributed to the engine I am using: BGII:EE IOS version 2.4.17

    One minor thing that may or may not cause problems. The Clasweap.2da definition in install.tph is missing a column for SPIKED which shows
    //CLASWEAP.2DA
    //               S L   M
    //               _ _   I
    //               S S B S     S
    //               W W L S     P
    //               O O U I B A E
    //               R R N L O X A
    //               D D T E W E R

    Sure, enjoy! I'm glad you managed to solve the problem.

    Hi, great mod as always.

    I tried to help Foundling as fast as I could, but he still ended with 3 HP loss.

    The plot was a little predictable but very enjoyable nevertheless.

    I finished the main quest, but the journal entry didn't update to Done Quests.

    I will put a screenshot later.

    Sure. I'm happy you had some fun.
    Cheers!

    How compatible are Weasel Mods with 2.6? I'd like a readme note saying with which versions they're compatible (2.5 or/and 2.6) so more people are satisfied.

    Thankee!

    @Endarire so instead of Lava working on actual technical updates you want him to spend time doing updates with readme notes? For all his mods?
    LOL
  • LavaDelVortelLavaDelVortel Member Posts: 3,246
    Just as jastey said: no. There are 45 mods available at Weasel mods. I won't be updating mods only to update readme files and I haven't tested every single mod with 2.6 version of the game myself.

    While I always try to update mods as often as possible, this is not my full-time job. Seriously.

    Can't you at least try to install them to see if installation is going without error instead of assuming it isn't compatible with 2.6? In case there will be an error you can always take an effort to report it to mod author/maintainer.

    i play with many @LavaDelVortel 's mods on BGEE and BG2EE 2.6 since months, without meeting any specific bugs.

    I have a question: I'm planning to go straight to Imoen once I'm out of the dungeon, so I would like to avoid taking any quest, including the one with Foundling.

    Could I summon Foundling via cheat and bring him with me to Brynnlaw? Or would it be too dangerous, when I'm going to do the shadow dragon quest?

  • LavaDelVortelLavaDelVortel Member Posts: 3,246
    I don't think it's going to work smoothly. His quest is vital and he suffers permanent penalties until you actually finish his quest. Besides, that wouldn't make much sense, as you can't even join him during the conversation, not until the dragon is dead.

    Thanks.

    1) Do I remember wrong, or you consider Foundling your Magnus opus? I think that for "complexity" Hephernaan takes the crown, with all the new items and the deal part. In fact, I think that currently Hephernaan is the best evil npc mod you've made.

    2) Said the above, you may not imagine it, but the npc mod I really enjoy the most from the one you've made is
    Varshoon. I just feel sad that it's not as meaty as your most recent releases are. I would be curious to go into an alternative universe where Varshoon is the last npc mod you've made, to see the differences between the current version and the alternative one

    I considered Foundling one of my best NPCs for years, but people change and while many of my older mods always have a special place in my heart, I think I like my newer NPCs more. Xzele, Dvaradime, Lhannd, Skie (from the Cost mod)... The truth is that pure mage was never my favorite thing to write, I suppose there are still some that like my Walahnan, but he has this comedic part.

    Foundling is still cool, but I think it's kind of visible the idea was born before EE. Anyway, I like to return to him from time to time. Complexity-wise, however, the new ones are just written differently. On the other hand, creating Foundling was quite a learning opportunity.

    As for Varshoon... I think he was never my favorite... Heh. It's cool for one run, and that would be all, I guess :)

    Just finished his quest related to the curse. I'd say it's surprising his level is so low compared to the other members of the group, I thought maybe he would gain a boost of xp when free of his curse, but no finally. It's a big gap, my main character has about 684000 xp, while foundling has about 111000! I have installed the component of cdtweaks to have xp of joining characters like what happens in tob but it didn't work for foundling. I guess I can always use eekeeper to boost his xp now... was there a particular reason why his xp is so low ? I guess as the slave of the shadow dragon he didn't have a very active life and didn't get a lot of opportunity to gain some xp...

    Except that I had some bugs during the part in the cold area but was able to get out of them by reloading so don't bother.
    I also installed the "shadow magic" mod because it adds some spells, but most don't seem to work if foundling is installed with a custom kit, I chose thief/shadow adept for him and the shadow adept part doesn't seem to be recognized for most spells. I know it's not your mod.

    Anyway, thanks for the mod it was an interesting experience!
    I think I'll revert to my previous group without fondling though I had kept a save before taking him in the group, main reason is the wide xp gap.

    He was a slave and a simple servant, a puppet of his master. He's supposed to have less XP, but also players shouldn't wait too long before making him join.

    Foundling's magic is a mix of shadow magic and shadow weave magic, and those are different things. Plus, the system are a bit different here. It's described in one of the talks.

    Well I don't like fighting the shadow dragon too early in the game, he is really low here at this level it wouldn't really be reasonable.
    Thanks for the other info, yeah 2 shadow systems at the same time, it's quite puzzling!
    Anyway as I said it was a nice experience, I don't regret testing him, I'll just not keep him after that.

    While installing this alongside my EET mod list, I noticed that the new area overlaps with a area added by another mod:
    qjddfqfmrirk.png
    Hidden Sanctuary (L#FOU0) > Cloudpeak Mountains (YS0370) from Fishing for Trouble.

    I do not play EET and I do not know which direction to move the area for things to make sense. If someone knows safe nearby coordinates and tell me which line needs to be adjusted, then I'll take a look at it. With that number of mods that add new areas, it's not that easy.

    Edit:
    considering this post, it's not gonna be easy
    https://www.gibberlings3.net/forums/topic/27749-eet-worldmap-areas-reference/page/6/#findComment-356823
    And this one doesn't even include Foundling... So I'll get back to it when I have some idea.

    Yes, it’s a real shame for EET players that no one is currently maintaining the "official" world map reference thread. I also wanted to point out that some older mods like "Region of Terror - RoT" add many areas to this specific region which makes the matter even more complicated — see here. I think RoT is rarely used, but perhaps it should still be taken into account?

    I’ve now simply manually moved the overlapping icons using Near Infinity. I don’t know much about the Infinity Engine and hope I haven’t created other problems by doing this — does anyone know if that might be the case?

    Simply moving the icons shouldn't cause any problems :) Coordinates aren't checked in any way :)

    > I think RoT is rarely used, but perhaps it should still be taken into account?

    I actually use RoT quite a lot, even though it has various issues (but it is playable and
    I completed it three times in total now). Many of the older mods, in my opinion,
    have issues, even with that automatic conversion tools. I think it may be too much
    work to fix all these issues and require more "modern" authors, such as Lava,
    Acifer and so forth, to try to adjust towards all problems. RoT is actually semi-actively
    maintained by Roberciiik, for instance. He must have killed like100 bugs or more
    if you look at all the changelog entries.

    Oddly enough, I had issues with EET so I stopped using it, and not using EET I
    don't seem to have any real worldmap issues, except sometimes a very few,
    e. g. I was unable to continue Neera's quest since it overlapped with some
    other coordinates. But other than that I don't seem to have an issue in a
    non-EET gameplay. I was also surprised how many people recommended
    EET, but EET never worked for me, for some reason; its installation procedure
    is also weird aka "you can safely hit ctrl-c" - I find this a very strange way to
    install add-ons when mod authors recommend something that is known to
    fail, and then just recommend to continue as-is.

    Note that if you run into some coordinate problems with RoT, it may be
    worth to report them anew, perhaps Roberciiik finds time to look into it. I
    use the worldmap mod though, so I wonder if that is solely existing for EET
    based installations (e. g. strangely enough I did not have any issues
    with the Wailling dwarf).
