Can someone give me info about the summoned creatures?

sersafirsersafir Member Posts: 126
The description of summon Planetar/Deva doesn't give very much details about the creature in the spell book.

I wanna know what the elemental princes do for damage.

I also wanna know the big differences between summoning the elementals in general.

I recall the first time I casted Arial Servant I had no idea what I'd get because the description was practically non-existent.

If you want details, you can use EEKeeper to look at the stats of the summons, their gear, saving throws, etc.

There is quite a lot of relevant info on summons, especially powerful ones. I could tell you all about them but it would take quite a while. I may put info on just the HLA summons here.

I'd be pretty interested in reading that

Not a bad idea I suppose, I'm just surprised I'd need to resort to that.

    Try this:
    http://baldursgate.wikia.com/wiki/Baldurs_Gate_Wiki

A basic wiki on all things BG. You can find mostly everything there. If you have specific questions, please ask more..

Well, that was actually the first place I checked.

    http://baldursgate.wikia.com/wiki/Elemental_Summoning

    and

    http://baldursgate.wikia.com/wiki/Greater_Elemental_Summoning

has almost virtually no info on the princes save for their names.

    These two:

    http://baldursgate.wikia.com/wiki/Planetar

    http://baldursgate.wikia.com/wiki/Deva

Are almost in the same boat.

Doesn't give out very specific info. What's their max health? What are the major differences between Devas and Planetars, fallen and not? What are their exact spells and how many times can they cast? What are their weapons and special effects that come with them? What are their resistances?

They're pretty much deadly against anything. That's pretty much all I ever needed to know..

You may also want to try the FR wiki:
    http://forgottenrealms.wikia.com/wiki/Main_Page

It kinda rounds up all the lesser wikis and gives a buttload of information. Spell-specific info is hard to find but you may want to look into the creatures themselves.

Sufficed to say Devas and Planetars are beast tier summons. Take those HLAs as early as possible and you'll quickly see what their spellbooks are and what sort of tanks they are in battle. I've never had much use for the high level elemental summons. The early summon elementals are strong but IMO by the time you can get the princes they're just not as strong as other options and not as potent at that point in the game.

@hispls Some of the princes (Sunnis especially) can be quite devastating. They may not be as good as the planetar but I think they are better than the deva.

I agree, thanks for the post, I'd also say you can only have 1 planetar out so a prince summon is always worth taking.

I'll have to kick the tires on them a little bit when my current party starts getting HLAs. I played the hell out of BG series back in the day and recently have been getting into it again a lot with EE releases. Of all the memorable overpowered stuff in HLAs the princes don't really stick out in my mind.

A notable summon I usually overlook is Ras, the sword you can buy in Trademeet after completing the djinni and druid quests. It only lasts 4 rounds and has poor offensive power, but it's basically unkillable, with 100% resistance to everything and the MINHP1 item that prevents plot-related characters from dying. Only stat drain, and I believe also the Death Spell, can kill it, and critters who want to drain its STR or INT will have to deal with an AC of -20.

If you're willing to exploit a glitch, and the exploit isn't closed in EE (many are, unfortunately), then you can get a duplicate by summoning the sword with a simulacrum and then killing the simulacrum after the sword is unsummoned. The simulacrum should have a copy of the sword in its inventory and should drop the sword upon its death.

@Tresset What are the differences between fallan and normal Devas/Planetars?

The only difference I know of is their alignment. Also whether they get Holy Word or Unholy Word.

I believe that they're pretty much the same, @sersafir, except that the Fallen versions are Evil-aligned and summonable by Evil-aligned characters. (Neutral-aligned casters get the choice, a one-off choice when first choosing the relevant HLA, of whether to become able to summon Good or Evil types, after which the opposite choice is locked out.)
