It is an early version of the Edwin Odesseiron portrait from Baldur's Gate; most likely that is.

    Edit: Nevermind

Yes, that portrait looks interesting, he might even have been an Edwin, I'm more interested in the original Yoshimo one though.

@GemHound Could You Please Post A Picture Of The Original Yoshimo Portrait?

Yes, but where is the Portrait? Lots of people I presume would absolutely LOVE that portrait and as it stands we need more ethnic minorities represented within the Portrait Selection as is within the Original Baldur's Gate; especially considering that THIS portrait is of the Original (and in my humble opinion) Super Quality.

Yoshimo is bottom left. The picture is from the Unfinished Business Mod.

Edit: This is a better comparison.

    That's for Yoshimo.

HMMM, I always thought that to be a modded version of his portrait.. Interesting. The Plot Thickens... *HMMM*

This page has all that the mod does for BG2:

Apparently Anomen does not have his original portrait either.

@WithinAmnesia maybe you should try to contact with Mike Sass, who created the portraits for both Baldur's Gate games. Who knows, maybe he has them somewhere hidden in his basement, or they were lost together with the art assets for BG1.

Minsc and Eldoth also have a bit different portraits in the early versions.

@Tuth Mike Sass eh? HMMMMMMM *Goal Set*. Wait.. Minsc has an early portrait too? HMM.

You have to look very closely to the cover arts that you've posted, there's a slight difference in his eyes and nose. I remember seeing somewhere an earlier portrait of Montaron, but I can't find it.

Mike Sass post here as msass https://forums.beamdog.com/profile/msass but he only made one comment in 2013 and left.

Well, if you PM him, and if his email is still valid and he still uses it, he'll see your message.

I've found something, but due to the quality, it's really hard to see. It's a scan of a computer games magazine from early 1999:
    image
If you look very carefully, you can see not only early portrait for Eldoth, but for Montaron (second screen from the left, the bottom portrait) and Dynaheir as well (the same screenshot, 3rd portrait and the one on the far right, also 3rd portrait, probably wounded). Minsc seems to have the early portrait as well, but it's grayed out and hard to determine.

Other than that the ogres on the second screenshot from the left look a bit different than the ones in the final game. I'll try to find more of these, hopefully in a better quality.

I've found a better quality of the screenshot on the far right in a different magazine from late 1998:
    image
Too bad that the Dynaheir is wounded and Montaron is grayed out. Not the best quality, but it seems that those early portraits were used in the non-interactive demo, I remember watching this scene.

The room looks quite different from the one in the final game as well (Candlekeep infirmary?)

It Is Weird How Damage Goes From Top To Bottom On The Early Build Portraits.

Well, Obsidian went for damage from top to bottom on portraits in Pillars of Eternity, maybe Feargus or someone who was around at the time during development of Baldur's Gate preferred it that way.

Hey does Mike Sass have an email? Also does this guy ( http://www.shsforums.net/user/2305-rabain/ ) have a profile here? (He created this in one day: http://www.blackwyrmlair.net/~rabain/images/AR0500.jpg )

    Maybe @Rabain ?

As for the email of Mike Sass, the only way to send him a letter from this forum is to PM him. Every user when he or she registers on this forum, gives an email, to which PMs are sent.
