It has never occured to me that there aren't people who have changed their gender in the FR. With magic, magic items and the favours/interference from Gods, how could there not be?
In fact, it's made quite clear that gender is not set in stone in the FR in the original games, the prime example being Edwin/Edwina and then that same NPC's closing story.
But, as that is the background, (the lore), of the world, introducing a transgender person whose approach to this world and treatment in this world is from "real life 21C earth" opens a can of worms.
Edwin ends up as a woman, a bitter woman who runs an Inn somewhere or the other. How can that be seen as a joke/punishment if 21C attitudes are being used to dictate content?
That's my fear, that moving in this direction will never be satisfied.
