Perhaps it is a deliberate ploy to keep us posting...
You have 1010 posts and you joined the forum in December... you don't need an excuse :P

Unless the forum tracking has gone insane, of course... it also says you only visited 27 times...

Oh please! First thing I do every morning when I wake up since November is 1) check App Store, 2) check BGEE web page, 3) check the forum, 4) check twitter, 5) feel sad, 6) power up some hope for next time... and this happens about three times a day. A little bit ago I was excited when I saw about 22 new messages... I thought something (not winter) was coming

** sighs ** we are being fooled on a wicked game orchestred by Cyric or Beshaba, or both.

    ** sighs **

@mlnevese: I'm pretty sure that @Bhaaldog just leaves the forum pages up all day. The 27 visits were probably unfortunate reboots.

So, not to be too much of a hope-monger, but I'm thinking that either tomorrow or Monday they will announce that they did submit it a while ago and it'll be released soon via Apple OR that they went for Steam or a Mac Beamdog client and will be able to release it alongside the next patch... maybe? please?
  • EudaemoniumEudaemonium Member Posts: 3,199
I'm kinda hoping for a Beamdog Mac client, I have to admit. I'll survive without one, of course, but I would like one very much.

Would there be any advantage if they did that?
Faster turn-around on updates, more money goes to the development house.

Apple takes bigger slice of the cake but probably cake is much bigger in Apples party. I don't believe that Beamdog could be popular enough very fast.

I don't want more clients. I like GOG:s style. But they don't have drm?
  • FuzzyPuffinFuzzyPuffin Member Posts: 289
It's a bit inaccurate to call Beamdog's thing a client. It's just a launcher that downloads and updates the game, just like Blizzard's launchers.
  • DeeDee Member Posts: 10,447
Well, Beamdog also has a client. But it's separate from the stand-alone launcher/installer.

Been awhile since I've posted here in Mac-world any news on the release?
  • EudaemoniumEudaemonium Member Posts: 3,199
There will be information forthcoming in a time specified as that of 'soon'.
  • FuzzyPuffinFuzzyPuffin Member Posts: 289
Trent on twitter: "We are just laying out plans to launch the Mac version and sync up the other platform versions. This is getting a little complicated."
  • CerevantCerevant Member Posts: 2,314
Q: "Did you end up going with a custom Mac launcher? Or are we still holding out hope that the App Store Submission gods are kind?"
Trent on twitter: "We got mad and built a launcher."

  • FuzzyPuffinFuzzyPuffin Member Posts: 289
Haha. So much for the "formal announcement."
