The party met with Bhodi and told her to FO& die to which she replied " I already did!" and scuttled off like a wounded lizard. We wandered around the graveyard taking in the sights cleared the spider nest but left the southern passage alone - and have a clue for the man in red to follow up on later.
We then played Health Department and sanitized the Copper Coronet and slaughtered the slavers rewarding Bragdok for his prowess by replacing his +1 longsword with Sword of Roses (+3) and we upgraded Sirilune with the Mauler +2.
Golinda FINALLY got Lilacor after much struggle with the mechanics which will never be found in the dictionary under "intuitive" - why this could not have been done with four little containers to put the proper items in is beyond me. So now she has Lilacor, Chaos, and FoA +3, so maybe we will let Annoyman carry the flail for a while.
I am REALLY liking the Thief Controlled script that I can swap back and forth between find traps and stealth - and the Controlled Bard is working for me also.
Now that we have turned over the Copper Coronet to it's new owners we will likely make the table next to the bar our stash (IIRC you can lose stuff from there if you leave them before the slaves take over).
We may hit the Bridge District tomorrow and we might be tempted to see Mages Gone Wild during that and eventually swap out Nalia for a while.
Bragdok gained a thief level (pumped Hide and MS - 90/100 I think) and Robin a Jester level (added Bastard Sword).
Annoymans quest started which sent us to the govt district where we saved Viccy and set her aside and sent Jan to jail (then paid his fine and sent him home too). Took the Val quest from Cowled Wizards and talked Annoyman into being honorable (so far).
Headed for the bridge where we took out the Red mans buddies and turned his prisoner loose then unveiled the tanner and watched Neeras performance and agreed to visit her in the forest later before heading back to graveyard to give the boy his bear.
Got the discount news from Gaelan and told him we weren't ready yet.
Think we may take a side trip to Watchers Keep and loot the first level - I really want that potion bag.
Chronic restart attack - I just love creating characters and parties LOL
Spent a couple hours this morning fiddling with the 75 or so characters in my character file (copied over from BGEE) looking for the right bunch to throw in with the Dwarf Beserker I rolled a 95 for a few days ago.
As we finished Nalia's Keep I am fairly well satisfied - heavy on melee - light on magelings and only one priest (which is a change for me as I usually run with two or at least 1.5. As I write this I'm already thinking about an even more melee oriented party and may fiddle with that when I get done posting these for your perusal...

Dungeon B Gone out of Chez Irenicus - circus, picked up Nalia, poison man, Xzar, numerous bandit encounters then Nalias Keep.
After finishing the troll trio in the dungeon I was having some trouble with golems so grabbed the flail head and went to make the flail before finishing - had left one head in the forge room earlier - Nalia pitched Twohand to be master of keep and he said yes and when we went to forge - all the stuff we left there was gone (Keep reset due to new master) - went back to a save - grabbed flail head - turned her down - made the flail - then told her yes - went back to golems - they were gone as well as stuff in the other two unopened containers...sigh - so lost axe and elven bow - will decide tomorrow whether to reload again and finish the golems before giving Nalia the yes! LOL
Key Event: Garrick, loyal follower of Balian of Candlekeep in Beregost.
Much has happened since had a chance to sit w/quill in hand. Balian led us back into the mines where we overcame scores of Kobolds thru 2 more levels of dungeon before we found the evil behind the iron crisis emanating from the mines. It was a Half-Orc named Mulahay. In a pitched battle we killed him while Balian fought of scores of Kobolds and a half-dozen skeletons, but shortly after killing Mulahay, Balian & the rest of us fell. The gods must have been smiling on us b/c Amnish soldiers ventured deeper into the mines when the kobold activity decreased & they found us. The people of Amn were so thankful to Balian that, in concert w/Nalin they had him – all of us – raised. Afterward, Balian led us back to mop up the mines (i.e. fight the battle we lost again. Dy had fallen earlier & in our need for extra ‘manpower’ I added a new Mage, the enchanter, Xan).
SO CLOSE...YET SO FAR...DARN IT!
Balian, a magnet for assassin’s it seems, met yet another as our group approached the Nashkel Inn after finishing up @ the mines. The assassin was more than we could manage in our weakened state after battle in the mines & we were barely able to lay a ‘glove’ on this one in support of Balian. The assassin started hurling Melf’s Minute Meteors @ us & we fell one after another. Balian charged & tried to land a blow but he fell. Once again, Amn raised its favorite hero Balian, feeling embarrassed that an assassin attacked him on the open on the streets of Nashkel. (In the reload battle, Balian & Jaheira were the only survivors & while waiting for Jaheira to ‘get over ‘blindness, the Amnish Guard killed Nimbul. Balian raised Xan hoping that he could ‘write’ an Identify we’d found but he failed).
With just Jaheira & Xan, Balian headed to Beregost, to try & find a way to get the enchanted items he garnered from the Nashkel Mines identified so he could use the gold to raise the rest of us. In the end, he wound up having to sell Gauntlets of Ogre Power to do so, having to remain satisfied w/his 18/20 strength. But before he did that he led Jaheira & Xan to corner Tranzig. Jaheira cast Bless on all of us, Armor of Faith on herself & Chromatic Orb @ Tranzig while Xan cast Protection from Evil on himself, 2 Chromatic Orbs & Melf’s Acid Arrow @ Tranzig but he was tough enough to last thru them, especially since Balian had fallen to a Sleep spell. (In the reload, Balian sold the Gauntlets of Ogre Power, used the gold to raise all of the party. The hero was Xan w/Moonblade landing several vicious blows that allowed Khalid to finish Tranzig off).
Treasure of note: Bracers of Archery (Khalid); Short Bow +1 & Short Sword +1 (Imoen); Bracers of Defense AC6 (Xan); Wand & Potion not identified yet
Current Disposition: Resting @ the Red Sheaf
Next Steps: Balian has not indicated his next moves
I really stretched the limits of the plausible in carrying Balian forward after we were all decimated in the mines, then by Nimbul, & finally by Tranzig. I might cash this one in but for now I'm planning to play on. I'm playing a mixed party of Knights of the Round Table & Robin Hood & His Merry Men in the Gladiators of Thay & am thinking it might be fun to start a new party w/a similar party. There I go thinking again. CT
Hi all, Been away from the boards here trying to win my way thru the BGII/TOB EE Gladiators of Thay.
Was doin' real good, then hit a rough patch with some vampires, finally won there, then ran off about four one & done's before taking a whoopin' from some Clay Golems. Won their but with some technical glitches and am helpin' an acquaintance from another forum to recreate the disconnect so he can work w/the developers on a fix. This guy helped them test the Beta software so he goes straight to the developers. Pretty cool that I might have discovered a problem in the software or code or whatever. Hope I can help. Btw, whooped the lich one a done too.
Anyway, given up Balian as my last couple of survivals weren't really credible. I could get away w/one favor where the town of Nashkel found our bodies & 'pitched in' to raise their hero's but not twice. Too much cheese to give 'em more than one mulligan.
So, now torn between what to do about another PC. I have visions of playing some characters from literature, e.g. Arthur, Galahad, Lancelot, Ivanhoe, Robin Hood, Merlin, even Friar Tuck.
Arthur would be a Paladin,; Lancelot a 'fallen Paladin, Lawful Good Wizard Slayer (as his fall came die to witchcraft; Galahad would be a Cavalier; Ivanhoe a fighter, Merlin a Sorcerer & Friar Tuck a Gnomish Fighter/Cleric. Been thinking about it for three days but haven't made progress. I lean toward Ivanhoe or Galahad.
Okay folks, if you'll help me, I'll appreciate it.
I have decided to play Ivanhoe as my PC. You probably had to read it in high school. It's a great story incorporating not only Ivanhoe, but Richard the Lionheart, Robin Hood, Friar Tuck & a Knight Templar (although, he's the bad guy - for some reason they always are in the movie - makes me sad since I think the original Knights Templar were good at heart).
So I need help deciding which route to go. I have three ways I can go w/this.
What I want help with is which Medium portrait to use. Below is the Small portrait which is taken of the protagonist in a 1982 version of Ivanhoe that was made for TV (note the hair - definitely 80s).
Here's where you come in. I can use THIS Medium portrait (below) drawn from a cover of the book from an earlier edition. If you like this one give me a 'LIKE' below.
I'm going to put the other below. If you like that one better put a "LIKE' there.
I said I could go three ways. I guess, I meant I could use the first set of armor for BGI & the second for BGII (when the PC would be assumed to have acquired some wealth and stature from BGI/TotSC.
I'm sure you will find it hard to believe but I have been working on a new party and after creating and fiddling with a half dozen concepts over the past week or two I think I have one I might like to play for a while - no telling how long a while of course but here we go...
Two PCs
Dark Eagle - M NG Elf Stalker 18-91/19/17/12/14/8 long sword** short sword** scimitar* TWS***
and his sidekick:
Bogati Bigstick M CN Half-orc F/T 19/18/19/16/9/6 Staff** Club* THW* TWS** (I'm seeing staff mace/club here at some point)
Current companions - Jahiera, Minsc, Aerie and I expect to run a few different NPCs in the final slot as we encounter them.
Dungeon B Gone to Waukeen and cleared the Circus now out slumming.
...Current companions - Jahiera, Minsc, Aerie and I expect to run a few different NPCs in the final slot as we encounter them....
Nice PCs, notably the Elf Stalker w/LSwd (Elven bonus). This is BGII but I'd probably give him a LBow for the elven bonus also, although I know many don't think ranged weapons important in BGII. Either way, Elven Stalker should be a power class/race combo.
Immy's out I guess but that's no prob w/the Half-Orc thief.
I always feel beholden to the 'story-line' NPCs so I'm completely hamstrung in BGI. I like BGII b/c I get a couple of slots (except when Immy are Yoshi are both present). Wish I could take 8 in a party - can't even make up my mind betw/Keldorn, Anomen, Valygar...but almost always take Nalia.
As a stalker I thought perhaps we would get a start on Umar Hills right off so we didn't even enter the Copper Coronet and headed off to the Gov't district - I had not necessarily planned to take Viccy but everyone except Aerie was for it so we brought her into the fold after freeing her (and being warned about using magic in the process).
Accepted the Valygar quest and headed for the docks and after finding the link to Umar Hills we were interrupted by the Harper and then Xzar quest. Then we stopped in the tavern for a little R&R before heading for the hills and Jahiera's old friend Ployer was there - a quest I had entirely forgotten about and it will be our next endeavor no doubt.
Meanwhile Minsc has taken Aerie as his witch and Dark Eagle is torn between Jahiera (who is making love talk) and Viccy (who so far is not) so things are off to a fine start!
Current Levels: Everyone except Jahiera and Bogati is level 8 ( 8/8 for Aerie) - Jahiera is 7/9 and Bogati is 7/8.
Okay, so here's another picture of Ivanhoe. Trying to figure out what kind of sword you think that is in his hand. I won't say anything to preclude biasing the results. Note the tip of the shield on his left side.
Re: Longbow for Dark Eagle - I am sort of planning to use his elf bonus for long (or short) bow but I'm using it to avoid using up a weapon pip on it - noticed on one of my earlier characters that an elf with 19 dex and free bonus doesn't need any more than that to be very effective when the bow is called for and that's extra pips to use on something else. Dark Eagle currently for instance has a Thac0 of 9 with a regular composite longbow and normal arrows (level 8).
As for the sword I have no idea what the real name/size of the sword might be but based on BG standards it looks like a long sword to me (too long for a short sword and not long enough for a bastard).
Both Aerie and Jahiera continue to make love talk to Dark Eagle (in spite of Aerie agreeing to be Minscs bit... errr witch) and so far he is more or less stringing them both along. Nothing from Viccy yet on that front.
Took care of Ployer and headed for Umar Hills where we eventually took care of the small quests and cleared out the shades (leaving the dragon until later) altho our first encounter with the shade lord led to a reload (our first and only so far). I had forgotten how annoying the navigation in the shade dungeon was but now we have our little cabin in the woods and have returned to town.
We took out Valygars over zealous friends but left approaching him in his cabin until later. Let Mazzy go home but we are seriously considering adding her - perhaps swapping Mazzy and Nalia for Minsc and Aerie we have plenty of priest power with Jahiera and Viccy but could use some additional mage power and Nalia could supply that while Mazzy has some more useful options than Minsc idiotic rage ability which is as likely to devastate the party as the enemy.
Those romance mods are a trip. The last time I played through seriously, I had the romance w/Jaheira goin' great and then somewhere I stepped in it and that was that. Had it all the way through the time she had to depart or something on 'Harper business' but I recall it stopped after that. Oh well, don't want the wife gettin' jealous over a fantasy woman, I guess. lol
Seems like I heard BG2EE did some "fixing" on the standard romances making them less likely to suffer from the numerous glitches reported in the original (unmodded) game but I am not certain about that. Even if they did it's likely Dork Eagle will be forced to make a choice at some point altho dropping Aerie from the group even for a little while will likely resolve hers (stopping her love talks) and thus far Viccy has not started any (maybe she doesn't like elves?)
@Wanderon I really don't know about Neera, since I still with the vanilla BG2, and I think Jaheira romances elves, half-elves and humans, someone romanced some of the shorties, but I can't remember. I am sure Jaheira does and it is most probably that Neera does romance Elves too. In BG:EE Neera flirted Elves a lot, well, comparing with other BG1 NPCs...
My new PC, Ivanhoe of Candlekeep. My last PC got thru the assassins Tarnish, Karlat & Neira, killed Silke, rescued Dynahier & made it thru the Nashkel Mines before falling in battle against the half-orc, Mulahay.
For me, that was great but I hope to do better this time.
This PC is based upon Wilfred of Ivanhoe, from the novel, Ivanhoe. I love that novel b/c it incorporates the historical figures King Richard the Lion heart w/ the legendary Robin Hood & his Merry Men & a great protagonist. It is historical in that it teaches the reader a little something about English medieval history also, especially about the dislike between Saxons and Normans.
I’ve tried to make this PC similar to the character Ivanhoe. I went thru the whole book last night using Alt/F to find the kinds of weapons, i.e., Sword (I chose Bastard based on a pic I have), Axe, and Spear, that Ivanhoe uses during the story. I used medium & small pictures from a 1982 TV miniseries & chose colors from those same TV stills.
So here he is. I rolled six or seven times to get the stats I have for him & set the minimum stats cheat @ 13. I used that # b/c I was reading thru the old TSR Deities & Demigods Manual in the section about Arthurian Heroes. There it said, an Arthurian Knight of Quality would never have ability scores less than 13 & would average 15-16. I think of Ivanhoe as that type hero. As a twist to the biography, I’ll draw loosely from the novel and it will read…
Ivanhoe was raised in the hallowed halls of knowledge called Candlekeep on the Sword Coast overlooking the Sea of Swords. He spent most of his 20 years of life within this keep's austere walls, under the tutelage of the sage Gorion, a minor nobleman w/o ties to either Amn or Baldur’s Gate. Being secluded as he was, he knew little of the prejudice that persist between the peoples of The Kingdom of Amn and those of Baldur’s Gate. Ivanhoe trained as a knight by the Watchers of Candlekeep & studied prophesy under its learned monks. Gorion raised Balian on tales of heroes & monsters, lovers & infidels, battles & tragedies. However, one story was always left untold: that of his true heritage.
Key Event: Gorion urges Ivanhoe to hurriedly prepare for a journey, but will not say to where
Treasure of Note: 199 GPs (120 GPs from Gorion and 79 GPs earned)
Current Disposition: Preparing to purchase supplies and say good-byes to those in Candlekeep
Next Steps: Go to Gorion
Level Up: None
Current Party: (Reputation: 11 - Average) Ivanhoe: Ftr/1
Darn sleep spell gets us nearly every time. As a fighter and a Thief, Imoen and I are lucky to avoid the spell. If we can, we can win but 9 times in 10.
I had high hopes for Ivanhoe. I had enough $ to raise him once and assume that Khalid and Jaheira heard the commotion & used it to raise Ivanhoe but then I lost the next battle too. Survived the Sleep spell and killed Tarnesh the 3rd time w/the Bastard sword. Oh well. Need a new PC.
Paid our magic tax, cleared the Copper Coronet and slavers, got a request from Quayle to visit the playhouse (which we ignored for now), and went to see Nalia at the keep where we swapped her in and Aerie out.
Cleared the Keep - reloaded twice - once for golems and once for Umberhulk - managed to get all the prizes from the golems but left the big one grunting at us from the doorway as we waved and ran off. Pathfinding was very annoying in the keep with those narrow corridors.
Returned to Umar Hills to visit our cabin stash and did the mithral quest and now we are considering what to do next. I would kind of like to go to Trademeet and grab Mazzy but I'd pretty much have to give up Minsc for her and he is doing nicely with Lilacor so we will think about it.

Notes: I'm planning on getting Dorn, Viconia, Hexxat, Cernd, and Korgan for a party.
Got out of Chateau Irenicus.
Picked up Korgan, and got his book.
Picked up Dorn, and
Picked up Viconia.
Picked up Cernd, and did his stuff.
Picked up Hexxat, watched
Before moving on with Hexxat's quest though, Kalyinara murdered Valygar, and has plans to take the Planar Sphere as her own.
Current Party:
Kalyinara - Dragon Disciple - 10
Korgan - Berserker - 12
Dorn: Blackguard - 10
Cernd - Shapeshifter - 11
Viconia - Cleric - 10
Hexxat - Thief - 11

Notes: I think I should EEKeeper Hexxat into a Shadowdancer or Assassin. *shrug*
Also, Got Hexxat's quest done..? I think.
That's really all I have to report.

LOL
Kalyinara took over the Planar Sphere. She now has three apprentices that will make her the "Dagger of Kalyinara".
Also, Kalyinara and Hexxat did some more treasure hunting, killing most of the ghosts in their path.
One more thing, I think Kalyin and Hexxat are getting cozy with each other.

Completed the Dungeon Crawl mod, ending with the deaths of the Dungeon Inc. crew.
Got the Dagger of Kalyinara, and made apprentices make a Scroll of Horrid Wilting, need to see if any progress was made on that.
Cleared out Windspear Hills.
Oh well, I'm babblin'. CT
If you don't give a rip, that'll be fine too. CT
If you like this one give me a 'LIKE' here. The good thing about this one is it's the same actor/outfit used in the Small portrait.
Thanks for your help. CT

Good luck. Will follow your posts. CT

I really don't know about Neera, since I still with the vanilla BG2, and I think Jaheira romances elves, half-elves and humans, someone romanced some of the shorties, but I can't remember.
I am sure Jaheira does and it is most probably that Neera does romance Elves too. In BG:EE Neera flirted Elves a lot, well, comparing with other BG1 NPCs...

TARNESH WINS!!!
Oh well, that was quick.
Darn, darn, darn, darn!!!
