@Bhaaldog I see Xan has taken his new position as a life coach for over acheiving youngsters!
Oh I tend to recruit everyone and drop them off in one location, its fun at the end when I do a group photo...
I often do the same altho I typically use Beregost over by Silkes corner - theres a bag to hold extra stuff as well until its time to move it to the barrel outside the elfsong - I was somewhat disappointed to see BGEE took away one of the two barrels that were there in Vanilla BG - it used to be handy to use one for potions scrolls and wands and the other for weapons armor and misc gear - all sorted in an alpha-numeric fashion of course...
Chapter 5 - Update 1 The group was happy to discover the annoying noise had disappeared while they slept and set off in the evening to explore the city. On their way to the Seven Suns they encountered thier freind from Cloakwood they had helped out with the druids and he engaged them to investigate his partners.
It turned out the whole place was infested with doppelgangers which they cleared out and were rewarded a lovely blade called Kondar that gows warm and builds power in the vicinity of those foul creatures. Tambul was given first go with it but promised to let Ajantis experience it as well at some point.
It turned out to be very helpful when they discovered another infestation at the Seven Suns - it too was quickly wiped out and Mikeli reported their success back to Scar who was most generous with his praise and the Citys gold in return and gave them another mission to seek out the cause of missing citizens perhaps related to the city sewers.
As they toured the city a woman approached them and complained bitterly about a mage called Ragefast whom she swore held a nymph against her will and Mikeli immediately sought him out. When the team entered his home and insisted he release the creature he attacked them and was dead before his first spell could be uttered. The nymph was freed and gifted Mikeli with a fine cloak.
The group toured the city into the night and came across an adventurers tavern called the Helm & Cloak where a callous bunch of brigands forced another fight on our already battle weary team. The battle was hard fought but won altho a new found freind was lost in the process and the party needed almost a full days rest to recover from the wounds taken.
Thus it was night again as they made their way back to the magic shop near the Elfsong to identify some of the items they had aquired before entering the city sewers on Scars latest quest.
Inside the Sorcerers shop they stumbled upon a coven of mages practicing some foul art - the mages made the mistake of attacking the team and died for thier foolishness. The shopkeeper didn't seem to notice and bought his comrades robes and trinkets without question.
Entering the sewers the team discovered an ogre mage had been responsible for the missing citizens they took he and his minions down and cleared many of the corridors of denizens before stumbling into a bawdy house called the Undercellar - they left soon after without sampling any of their wares.
They exited the sewers in one of the northern areas they had not been to before. They were approached by a man named Marek who warned them about interfering with Iron throne business and stalked off. Mikeli shrugged it off and the group returned to Scar who rewarded them handsomely for clearing the sewers and returning the items they had found there.
Scar took them to meet Duke Eltan who offered them a task to investigate the Iron Throne further seeking hard evidence that would implicate them in the iron shortage and Mikeli agreed immediately.

Current Levels: Everyone is level 6 except Baila who just leveled to Beastmaster 3> Cleric 7 - Tambul (Barbarian) is closest to leveling at about 2K needed while the others need between 10-25K for their next level.
The team has had very little problems with any of the battles in BG City thus far - toughest was probably Helm & Cloak.
After a breif sojourn to the west where they ended up clearing a village of nasty Xvarts the group headed back to Nashkel.
As the team traveled toward the mines they found themselves in an ambush - just as it looked like things were going south - the brigands confronting them started losing their back-up one by one and the huge half-orc they had seen at FAI stepped out of the shadows and focused on the leaders of the brigands - the Shadowhawks jumped in as the fight was engaged and soon not a brigand was standing.
After a brief consult between Boris and the half-orc Dorn and a small nod to Boris from the Friar a deal was made and Dorn joined their ranks and the wild mage was let go for now to await them at the FAI should they require her assistance again. Imoen seemed less than pleased with the newcomer but will no doubt get over it and the party moved on towards the mine.
They decided to scout the surrounding area to see what clues might be discovered and had a series of small skirmishes with kobolds, the occassional ghoul and a white wolf. They met the artist Prism and agreed to protect him in return for all he owned and the bounty hunter Greywolf arrived - none too pleased that Boris had accepted his money from Oublek and itching for a fight.
He shoulda joined the Army as he was magic missled and commanded to the ground where he was poisoned by Dorn and paralyzed by the Friar then felled by a backstab from Nil as he regained his feet for a breif moment. Prism died of potion overdose and the team gathered the spoils and headed into town again.
They made another trip north clearing out some additional Hobgobbles and restocked at Beregost before returning to the mine district where they plan to rest a bit then enter in the morning.
************************** Shadowhawks current roster and levels:
Boris Badenov M Gnome Illusionist 1/Thief 2/ - 14 - 18 - 18 - 19 - 10 - 13 *shortbow *crossbow (no melee for this one LOL) Mage & Lockpicker
Boris awoke with a start sucking in breath as if it was his last. Suddenly Imoen was at his side speaking but he couldn't hear her - then the fog in his head cleared and her voice cut through:
"Boris you bufflehead you're OK you're OK it was just a dream"
A chill swept through him - and he turned to look at her. "Was it?" he said softly. His hand went to the spot on his chest where the arrow had entered then erupted in flame and there was a tenderness about it like a rash or sunburn.
He looked at Imoen again. "Was it?" he said again. "Roust the others and get the camp broken down - we're moving north."
Imoen started to say something - they were supposed to enter the mines this morning but the look in his eye warned her and she set about waking the others as Boris walked over to the edge of the yawning pit with the mine entrance at the bottom and stared down.
The group made their way north then west meeting only a few sporadic attacks by a trio of gibberlings a ghoul or two south of Beregost and then a few wolves as they entered the red canyons southwest of the town.
As they turned to the north they encountered a mages apprentice called Melicamp that had somehow turned himself into a chicken and was most grateful when they kept him from becoming a wolfs dinner. He directed them to High Hedge and Thalantyr a crotchety mage who bought and sold magic items when it suited him to do so.
Melicamp was eventually restored to human form and Boris sent the group outside once their trading was complete and stayed and talked to the mage for some time before he reappeared. They headed west to Beregost where Boris suggested they take some rooms at Feldposts and once there he bought a round of ale and then quietly slipped away.
Imoen found him later and they were soon joined by Friar and Nil as Dorn & Monty gambled downstairs. Boris said he had dreamed they entered the mines and had made their way down to the third level where the kobolds got thicker and traps became more frequent.
They had been clearing a corridor after taking out a nasty nest of spiders when they encountered a group of kobolds and the crew starting pelting them with ranged weapons so they wouldn't run up on some nasty trap when a kobold commander appeared.
Boris stopped talking for a moment then looked at his freinds and shuddered visibly. "I could see right into his eyes", he began; " and I saw the an arrow leave his bow and watched an orange glow appear at it's tip as it slowly flew towards me".He took a deep breath, "I watched it penetrate my chest and erupt in flames - and then I woke up and saw Imoen talking to me but I couldn't hear what she was saying."
Friar rose and put a hand on his shoulder. "We will wait before we enter those mines" he said. "I think we should spend a few days clearing these lands around Beregost and seeing about some better equipment before we go back there."
He looked directly into Boris eyes. "You will know when it's time."
Boris nodded his head and they went back to the bar for a round before bed...

First reload - Kobold commander picked out Boris from the back of the line up and must have got a crit with those damn fire arrows just before the exit down to Mulahays level. 15hps and AC 3 with a -3 armor modifier for both missle and piercing and the little bastard one shotted him.....sigh I hate it when that happens LOL.
Guess we will do some other stuff and maybe gain a level before we head back to the mines......
@FinneousPJ - I don't consider Xanos to be smart at all...considering that he uses Negative Energy Ray on undead guys, which causes them to heal. Which that just makes me go back to Drogan's and pick up Dorna instead. XD
Also, Final BG1 update on Saki, moving onto BG2 soon!
The group rushed back to Baldur's Gate. They were confronted by Flaming Fist. Angelo killed Garrick to make him an example. This had just enraged Saki more, however. They went back in, and cleared out the place, grabbing all of Garrick's gear and reviving him. Then, Saki talked to a harper, and a woman named Tamoko. They both agreed that Duke Eltan needed to be saved. Which, Saki did so, and then went onto the Iron Throne building, yet again. She led her group all the way up, and found a mage, and defeated said mage. Neera had cast Minor Spell Deflection, Chaos Shield, and such.
Next, Saki went after two rogues. She defeated them easily, and without Neera casting any negative type spells on the party.
After saving the two remaining Grand Dukes. Saki was sent to go after Sarevok in the Undercity. She defeated a group of people, and then Tamoko. Then, she defeated Sarevok. First one to die was Semaj. Then Angelo. Then Tazok. Until it was just Sarevok left. Saki stood up to him, blow to blow. Neera cast several spells. Some of Neera's wild surges were actually useful.
@FinneousPJ - I don't consider Xanos to be smart at all...considering that he uses Negative Energy Ray on undead guys, which causes them to heal. Which that just makes me go back to Drogan's and pick up Dorna instead. XD
Well, I thought he was quite witty for a half-orc. Obviously the game AI is a different thing altogether, as I'm sure you know
I followed the clues uncovered @ the Bandit Camp from Ender Sai & the letter found in the treasure chest. They led me to the Cloakwood.
Initially the Cloakwoods are somewhat less exciting than the Bandit Trail we followed just a few days ago now. Defeated enemies include several Wolves, Dire Wolves, Huge Spiders & Tasloi.
I ran into a rogue of sorts who asked me to join him on an adventure. Though tempting, I declined trying to stay focused on my task @ hand & having decided that my party was just about as large as I want it to be.
Key Event:A merchant named Aldeth Sashenstar who asked for our aid in defending him & the rest of his hunting party against some savages that had killed one of their number & were threatening them. The ‘savages’ turned out to be druids who didn’t appreciate Aldeth & his friends hunting in the woods. The Druids were unyielding to my efforts to seek a peaceful solution & attacked.
The Big Blow here was Dynahier casting, for the first time, her Horror spell. That scattered them immediately running in fear. From there we ran them down & picked them off w/ease.
Treasure of note: Druids Ring of Animal Friendship (Jaheira). Coupled with her Ring of Sune (Holiness) this find really makes Jaheira a combat multiplier for my efforts. We also found the Whispers of Silence Cloak of non-detection (Dynahier).
Current Disposition: Resting, Recuperating & Resupplying @ the FAI
Minsc claim’s Bentley’s Evermead is one of the finest he’s tasted & he’s tasted a few! For 20gp it should!
Next Steps: Further into the Cloakwood
Level Up: Imoen to Robber (Thief/5) increased her skills in O/Locks & F/Traps to 55% each, H/Shadows & M/Silently to 50% each; Minsc is promoted to Courser (Ranger/4) increased his M/Silently skill to 50%
What is this? An actual PROGRESS report on Saki in Baldur's Gate II? Nonsense!

Onto the real progress report.
Saki had awaken in a cage, in some dungeon, only to be tortured, and eventually rescued by Imoen. In which, Saki had rescued a man named Minsc, and her mother-figure, Jaheira. Sending Minsc off on his own business, the three made their way out, rescuing a man named Yoshimo on the way. Once they were out, Imoen was taken with Irenicus.
Then, Saki, Jaheira, and Yoshimo made wandered around until they entered a Circus Tent. They helped a girl named Aerie. They defeated a man named Kalah, and ran into a gnome named Quayle. Kalah was defeated with mostly Aerie's magic, and Saki's brute force.
Next, they made their way to the slums, finding out that Saki had to collect Twenty-thousand gold just to rescue Imoen. They went to the Copper Coronet, found a woman named Nalia, and two men, Anomen, and Arath. Saki sent Aerie back to Quayle. They defeated the slavers in the district. Everyone casting some sort of spell indoors, except for Saki, who only had her Kai ability. They had gotten many rewards from Hendak for defeating the slavers, however, it was a question of when will the Slavers come back.
My followers & I travelled deeper into the Cloakwood. We ran into an area infested w/spiders & Ettercaps. Here we met a young boy whose brother was missing in the forest & had been for a week. He asked us to find his brother. We settled on a ‘ranged’ strategy to deal w/the spiders & Ettercaps, lest we lose someone to a poisonous bite. Besides, Ettercaps have a habit of setting devious & dangerous traps to snare prey. We did well & the strategy worked almost w/o a hitch.
Key Event:We had a difficult battle in the cave of a hideous, fat octopus looking creature that appeared to be the arachnid goddess here in the Cloakwood. We entered the cave but conducted retrograde quickly, as we didn’t want to get tied up inside the cave when she summoned spiders to her side. Outside we struggled to defeat a Sword Spider & two Giant Spiderss. The Sword Spider chased Khalid & pierced his armor causing repeated damage. Khalid quaffed 2 Potions of Healing & tried to shake the Spider. In an anguished effort we killed the Sword Spider. Unfortunately, Dynahier had been trying to use a Potion of Firebreath on the Sword Spider but, instead, burned both Jaheira & Khalid, killing Khalid. Back inside the cave, we fought & killed another Sword Spider, an Ettercap & three or so Huge/Giant Spiders. Sadly, we found the young man’s brother, deceased, among the ‘spider queens’ treasure.
We were sporadically approached & attacked by Druids further into the forest. We finally found a tree house where we fought a bit of a tense battle against a Druid – who claimed to be an Arch-Druid. His skills didn’t seem to be anything like what I’d expect from an Arch-Druid but he did manage to get off an Entangle spell & some other ‘Hold’ type spell that stopped Imoen mid-step.
Later, even further into the Cloakwood, we found a Wyvern Cave w/2 huge Wyverns & their young. We did well here & took them out w/relative ease.
As a sign that we were getting close, we had to fight off a number of guards as we got deeper into the forest. Finally, we found the mines & the palisades around them. We performed a recon around the palisades & cleared the woods of more guards before retiring to the FAI to rest.
Treasure of note: Spider’s Bane +2 (Minsc), Rashad’s Talon (Scimitar) +2,
Current Disposition: Resting, Recuperating & Resupplying @ the FAI
Next Steps: Into the Cloakwood Mines…
Level Up: Jaheira was elevated to Initiate of the 2nd Circle (Druid/4) & was promoted to Hero (Fighter/4). She was granted the divine spells Armor of faith & Barkskin. Dynahier rose to Theurgist (Mage-Invoker/4) & elected to add additional Magic Missile & Armor spells & Agannazar’s Scorcher to her memorized spells. I, Behmen, was also promoted; to Swashbuckler (Fighter-Wizard Slayer/5). Khalid, also, was promoted to Swashbuckler, (Fighter/5).
I led my followers back to the mine after short respite @ the FAI.
Upon returning, Imoen performed a recon Hidden in Shadows & returned to report that there were two guards in Splint Mail w/Shield & Long Sword @ the main gate of the mining complex. Also, she spied what appeared to be 2 Mages & 2 others in armor, 1 in Plate, that could have been knights or clerics. We took out the guards first & then I had Jaheira cast Entangle & Dynahier cast Web from beyond their line of site. From there I had us move in to attack w/ranged weapons, sending Minsc in w/Spiders Bane to keep the Mages occupied. The strategy played out pretty much as I envisioned it although Minsc was taken out of the fight w/a confusion spell.
Moving into the mines, we worked quickly thru the 1st Lvl knocking out any guards we found.
Key Event: The 2nd Lvl seemed about the same till we came upon the Dining Facility for the complex. The place was swarming w/guards supported by a mage. Initially we were packed in a hallway & the mage fired off an ill-conceived lightning bolt hat almost cost me Jaheira. Dynahier fired off her Fear wand & this incapacitated 1 or 2 guards. We worked our way out of the hallway & into the room. I went after the mage w/assistance from Minsc. The others moved in & spread out while Jaheira conducted a retrograde into the hallway to cast Cure Light Wounds on herself. Dynahier cast Grease & Horror into the main Dining Room to occupy our enemy. From there we took out some 12 or so guards w/our bows until the Grease wore off & then we moved in & finished up the survivors. Unfortunately, we tried to rest there & ended up in a battle w/10 guards. We won that easily enough after Dynahier used her Wand of Fear but when we tried to leave to rest outside we tripped a trap that took out Khalid & Minsc w/a Lightning Bolt. We had to return to the FAI & enlist Gellana’s services.
Treasure of note: Fallorain’s Plate +1 (Khalid), Paws of the Cheetah/Boots of Speed (Imoen), Traveler’s Robe & Wand of Fear (Dynahier)
Current Disposition: Resting, Recuperating & Resupplying @ the FAI
Next Steps: Deeper into the Cloakwood Mines
Level Up: Imoen progressed to Filcher (Thief/6) & improved her O/Locks, F/Traps & M/Silently to 60% & H/Shadows to 55%; Minsc has been promoted to Tracker (Ranger/5).
Following the disappointing adventures at Ulcaster out of no where a Drow Sorcerer by the name of Baeloth magically appeared in front of Xellos. Reloads: 0
I'm trying to remember who Baeloth is. I don't remember that NPC. Are they normally around Ulcaster?

The group was happy to discover the annoying noise had disappeared while they slept and set off in the evening to explore the city.

Shadowhawks Journal
**********************
First reload - Kobold commander picked out Boris from the back of the line up and must have got a crit with those damn fire arrows just before the exit down to Mulahays level. 15hps and AC 3 with a -3 armor modifier for both missle and piercing and the little bastard one shotted him.....sigh I hate it when that happens LOL.
Guess we will do some other stuff and maybe gain a level before we head back to the mines......
In all honesty though, I'm waiting for someone to make a smart half-orc just to go against the stereotype.
Current Party:
Saki: Kensai - 9
Khalid: Wizard Slayer - 9
Jaheira: Fighter/Druid - 8/8
Safana: Bounty Hunter - 11
Neera: Wild Mage - 10
Garrick: Skald - 11
Reloads: 2
Notes: Not an Iron Man run like with Kalyinara. Oh well. Onwards to Baldur's Gate 2!
Edit: One of the screenshots were being wonky, so I decided to take it out.

Theres a story as to why I picked that one, but...I'd rather not go into detail with it, yet.
Also, I haven't given up on Saki. I'm modding up my BG2 right now just to get started on her!
Since most of the stuff on here is obvious I'm just gonna put the difficulty and the mods.

Current Party
Saki: Kensai - 9
Jaheira: Fighter/Druid - 8/10
Yoshimo: Bounty Hunter - 11
Anomen: Fighter < Cleric - 7 < 11
Nalia: Thief < Mage - 4 < 11
Arath: Avenger - 11
Note: Saki is going to dual to thief at 13. Going to keep Yoshimo as a thief until Saki can detect traps and open locks fairly well.
