I'm all in favor of spirited discourse, and dissenting opinions are welcome here. However, @Malicron, your statement is uninformed disinformation. The BGEE update and BG2:EE are a question of when, not if.
Yeah, basically, there will be no patch, or BG2:EE.
Orly?
Anyone else have no clue what this meant and had to use urban dictionary?...anyone?? haha. Kids these days with their internet lingo
Meh...I've been passing the time by doing other things. Like today I beat the Black Pits for a second time. When you have a few inquisitors with you the battles (especially the final battle) are super easy.

While I appreciate the devs' determination, this whole situation was caused by circumstances beyond their control - I don't see how you can make that guarantee...
@shawne The developers are very careful with their statements. If Cerevant says that it is a matter of "when", that's because he knows that for sure, otherwise I can assure you that he would not talk out of turn.
@Aedan: I'm not questioning their sincerity, but they've already been blindsided once. And unless I've missed a news update somewhere, the situation is still far from stable. So making promises at this point seems a bit premature.
Hope the update comes out but.. i think there is no more. B2:EE will probably never released. If this update do not comes out, i done a fail purchase...
I would just like to clarify, my previous statements are my opinion. I know Beamdog will do everything and anything to get the patch and BG2:EE to us, I just don't believe they can beat Atari. In my opinion, the odds are just too great to overcome. I have no concrete evidence for this opinion, just the general asshole-ery in modern business dealings and my own pessimism. Again, I don't think the devs are lying, I just think they're wrong.
Can't agree more @shawne. But if indeed the situation is still the same at the end of July (that's two, three max weeks from now...), it's almost guaranteed that this should be the end of BGEE adventure.
Wow negative remarks on the internet passed off as if they were facts while anything positive was labeled as just so much wishful thinking - never saw that coming...

And yet I'm the one willing to admit as much while you're the one flinging insults. It's because of people like you that people like me stupidly stick to their guns long after they're proven wrong or (inadvertently) hurt or mislead someone. Why the hell should someone try to do the right thing and admit they got carried away if this is the response they get? Come on, if I can admit I was wrong and try to be civil, the least you could do is try to be civil as well.
Such a big thing like this takes normally more than 2 years to show some possible results. And in this situation, atari is too powerfull if they say "no we won't continue this game" then it's done. Of course i do not have informations about that, but its just what i'm thinking. But maybe there is some luck...
@Cerevant: Seeing as how the devs can't share any concrete data, I hardly see how that's our fault. The most we're getting from you so far is "eventually it'll all work out somehow" - I'm sure you can understand that's not exactly reassuring.

Well... if there's no news by the end of July, I suppose it's still possible it'll be out someday. But speaking only for myself, I doubt I'll stick around to find out; I don't fault Beamdog for failing to predict Atari's bankruptcy, but I'm also not the sort to get hung up on vaporware projects and haunt forums for scraps of non-news. I bought BG:EE because I really wanted BG2:EE and I figured buying the former would be a sign of support for the latter; if BG2:EE falls through, or becomes delayed to the point where I just can't be bothered with it anymore, the worst that'll happen is that I'm out $20. C'est la vie, etc.

EDIT:
This is an opinion, not a statement of fact.
EDIT:
Again, opinion, not fact.

Back to the topic, I also got the "when not if" response (from @Jalily) in another thread.

Can IP holder still ask Beamdog suddenly pull off game from their platform and never consider how to continue the service for customer,
IP holder just make the discount in steam every weeks to make money and never consider after service ,
How bad it is ..
I see the point very clear , i have no doubt for Overhaul in this case,
In this case , i only hope they can learn something from this issue,
Come on, if I can admit I was wrong and try to be civil, the least you could do is try to be civil as well.
