I don't know if it's the new update but 1 2 3 4 5 6 7 8 9 0 short key to select characters don't work anymore, difficult to imagine myself playing without that ;/
Oh wow, glad I didn't update then. It would be frustrating as hell to be without those!
Started a new game as SD. Even for me numeric short keys doesn't work. Italian translation for the new feature of SD are not up to date (not so important at this moment) and found a graphic bug on a door outside FAI.
44% to release the patch as it is and 53% to continue in beta: this is getting crazy! Every update to the beta fixes a lot of things but also breaks the game in ways that would make the general public scream (lost key shortcuts for character and whole party selections at the time of writing e.g.). We absolutely need to carry on with dedicated beta testers who can take the flak for the time being.
I don't think the patch should be released while there are still known unresolved problems. The journal still has a ton of problems, the game unpausing while changing screens is a huge annoyance, and there are still reported problems with special abilities like berserker rage, which are crucial to gameplay.
I understand that there may still be "undiscovered" bugs that are only found after the patch is released, but known problems shouldn't simply be allowed to go on - especially given that people (including myself) have been waiting nearly a full year already to see this game as close to perfected as possible.
932: "This spell is already in your spellbook." Spell scrolls will now be highlighted in green if the currently selected mage already has that spell in their spellbook. A message is displayed at the top of the item's description, and the "Write Magic" button is greyed out. (At the moment the "Write Magic" button can still be clicked, but that should be fixed soon.)
What I reported is a different issue.
Edit: To join the when the patch should be released discussion here how I see it. First of all bugs that significantly hamper gameplay like the berserker rage(I know it's fixed), quick keys not working, etc. Should not be ignored, and the patch shouldn't be released before they are fixed.
However I don't think things like some quests not having proper journal entries, fireplace having graphical glitch, etc. are important enough to not release the patch, which does improve things in a major way compared to the current live version. Besides those things are most likely already broken in the live version anyway.
In the Inn called "Tavern and Inn" in the southern west part of Baldur's Gate, just south of the Flaming Fist Compound, many sitting commoners have managed to move away from their seats. I killed the paladin Phandalyn here earlier, so the commoners might have moved because of the battle?
Either way it's a bug. The commoners are not excused just because people start fighting.
It's unfair to say the beta isn't ready yet when an update AFTER this poll was made broke something. If all high priority bugs (crashes mostly) are fixed, I think it's time to release this patch. People have been waiting long enough for it, and the patch fixes more things than it breaks. In fact, continuing the beta apparently breaks more things than it fixed. Makes you wonder if the 53% that want to continue are the crazy ones.
Fix the high priority bugs and postpone new features to the next patch. Yes, I'd love new enhanced features like green highlighted spells, but let's get this patch published already.
Found more sitting commoners that have moved. Can't seem to find any of them outside of SW Baldur's Gate
Those commoners are practicing their yoga moves. Sitting dog or something. This would simply mean that SW Baldur's Gate is a more affluent area and the residents have the gold for yoga teachers. Not a bug.
Just my opinion, but I would prefer it if the green now used for Known Spells was less opaque, or perhaps just used a small green checkmark in the corner of the scroll instead.
@elminster, @onan You guys are so insightful, I don't know where you get it from. What about the commoners that are cut in half in the tavern?
It was a "saw a man in half" magic trick that went horribly wrong. Thankfully there was a cleric around that managed to keep them alive. Not much of a life though.
I just tried to play and was all up to date but the beamdog client said there was another update so i got it...does anyone know anything bout it...i had the 10/11/13 update all ready.

Friday's update was what was listed (http://forum.baldursgate.com/discussion/21975/update-list#latest)... Saturday's update (today) was a fix for friday's one as the character selection quickkeys (1-6, char1 to char6 and 0, char0) was not working properly... If there is anything else, I dunno, but the quickkeys for char selection works!
It would be cool and righteous if patches and hotfixes were always so fast and not only during beta sessions! The best result of this all would be this method to be adopted permanently. What's happening shows that it's possible.
Well, usually there is FAR more testing... Since this is a beta however, testing is not required as much as a legit patch... Anyway, that's how I see it! And, also, the Steam version needs to be approved by Steam before publishing... It's all in marketing if you ask me!

The Berserker enrage ability was also fixed in the last couple of updates; check out the Update List for full details: http://forum.baldursgate.com/discussion/21975/update-list

The first image is by the Flaming Fist Compound and the second image is by Ye Olde Inn.
I don't see anything wrong on these pictures really, just a couple of chilled out faquires, seems to be a new addition to the fantasy feel
Anyway, update your betas, testers, character selection hotkeys are back!
What's happening shows that it's possible.
What if spells you DIDN'T know were highlighted in green, INSTEAD of spells you ALREADY know?
That way, your inventory would look more like THIS toward the middle-end of the game (because you just know you're gonna need those scrolls sometime)Instead of THIS?
The journal is still very buggy though - I think some new bugs may have been added by the new update.
