Another small but super-convenient observation: You can pick things up that you already have a stack of if your inventory is full. Whereas before, you had to go to the inventory screen and pick it up off the ground and add it to the stack manually. If your Lore is sufficient, these items will also be identified and added to the stack! (magic arrows/bolts/bullets, for example)

I just noticed this yesterday and good lord it makes things so much easier (provided your archer has decent lore, which Imoen conveniently does).

it never occurred to me to mention this constant annoyance, but if this is true it's the next best thing since UI redesign!

Loving the work so far. These little tweaks that many may scoff at are fantastic. It highlights an attention to detail and an ear for what long time fans (who are not part of modding communities) have often wished for.
I appreciate that some folks have saw their patience wear thin, if not expire altogether, but the after sales support for BG:EE is admirable. They're a small team who have had uncertain circumstances thrust unto their progress, whom have waded through a ridiculous amount of bile from certain corners, whilst dealing with the broadest platform of all for hardware and software. I pondered on occasion if it may become too much. Yet here we are on the verge of the latest patch, and it is, thus far, living up to its promises in the beta phase.
I'm impressed! In tandem with numerous gameplay bugs being fixed, and countless journal entries being corrected, it's really taking shape. With the aid of the community whom are weeding out the obscure quirks that can be hard to replicate, I believe that great things are on the horizon.
@Gate70: For the Zhurlong boots, happened to me too... (And I understand why too!). See, instead of having 2 identical pair of boots (cause there are 2 in the game), Zhurlong's boots have been made unique (a new itm file). So, if you had the boots before patch (so, the old version), they remain the old version and the Zhurlong's script will only work for the new itm file (that your character doesn't have).
They will be fine on your next play (tested it myself!).
This is an improvement but I think that if you are transferring items from one inventory to another (via drag and drop) it still will not accept the item into stacks if the destination inventory is full (but has a non full stack).

Yes its true
Weird. I just tested that with arrows and it worked. Not that it should matter but what items were you trying with?
@Dee: That's a cool list! Primarily, for me anyway, 932: "This spell is already in your spellbook." (that was one of my request) is a TOTAL cool factor! a VERY BIG thanks!
(And might I add that this is the ONLY game/company that I saw such direct customer support! Not only for bugs and crashes but also for tweaks and nags that just puts the game at a higher level!)
P.S. I really think the patch is or will be ready very soon!
Edited: WOUHOUH!!! I don't have to get into the scroll each and every time and click write to book! Today's color is green! Green is beautiful!
It may have been gems, or scrolls or arrows but that game state/save is long gone now. I deliberately tested out drag and drop stacks and have not had this happen since but I have a few more things to try (mixes of full/non full stacks etc).

The new version that just came out seems to have broken the ability to select party members by keyboard (custom assigned keys, not the defaults). I tried reassigning the keys but no effect -- the reassigned keys were ignored.
Once I realized I could no longer select party members through hot keys I created a new game with a new character to make sure it wasn't an issue with the old version environment.
However the problem persisted into the new game -- I tested it by going straight for the party training/intro building in the south side of CandleKeep where you meet the 'Gatewarden' for an series of illusionary encounters summoned by Obe. The hotkeys failed to work on the temporary party that forms there.
Also the related function when selecting a party member or yourself by hotkey where the screen centers on that specific character is not working.
The ability to select all party members via assigned key is broken.
The ability to select all party members via the GUI Button is also broken.
The only way that I seem to be able to select party members is by portrait mouse click OR mouse click on the avatar OR by selecting a group of party members by mouse click drag/grouping window.
I will try fully uninstalling/deleting and reinstalling the beta tomorrow to see if that fixes the issue.
@Eiler I'm having the same issue with not being able to select party member via the keyboard. I also noticed the override folder has been removed from the 0764 game folder.
I did a comparison between the normal (0766) game and the beta patch (0764), and the frame rate with the beta patch lags considerably on my system. The only time it doesn't lag is when I'm in a small, enclosed area, such as a house or a small cave. It doesn't seem to matter whether I'm traveling outside, in battle, or during weather (rain/snow). It seems I've traded the movie stuttering in 0766 for the game lag in 0764.
@Mortianna I have not noticed a performance change however my system is outrageously overspecced for the game so that is probably why. I am also possibly too sleepy at this point to notice a less obvious impact. I will be looking out for that tomorrow though when I check out some things then.

Anyone else experiencing these issues?
Yes, this is happening to me too and I consider it nearly game-breaking. I use my keyboard to select my party members because its more efficient than using the mouse to select them. This needs to be fixed and urgently!
By the way, I know it's been mentioned a couple times before, but click-and-drag scrolling in shops should not select/deselect items. I hope something can be done about this.
1) Start a new game with Adelia 2) C:CreateItem("scrl82") 3) C:CreateItem("scrl84", 2) 4) Scribe one of the Larloch's Minor Drain scrolls into your spellbook. 5) Right click on the remaining Larloch's Minor Drain scroll 6) Right click on the Chill Touch scroll 7) The Write Magic button on the Chill Touch scroll is now greyed out.
The Write Magic button shouldn't be greyed out on spells you don't know yet.
Here's also more graphical explanation of the bug.
If you click on the spell it now has text telling you the person already knows the spell and the write magic button is greyed out.
Now here comes the bug. If after visiting the previous screen you now open the same screen with spell that isn't known the write magic button is still greyed out. However the button still works correctly if you press it.
Apart from the character selection hotkey thing, the latest build of the beta works like a dream so far. Highlighting spell scrolls already in the spellbook is an awesome feature.

It's very inconsistent with the rest of the game though, and personally I preferred when known scrolls weren't highlighted. The out of place green highlight gives me ticks.
The options in the game could already be expanded quite a bit, I think, and the highlighting of known scrolls is definitely a feature I would love to be able to turn off.
I haven't encounter any bugs whatsoever... For me it is ready to be released and the few things that need to be fixed should be just updated later on. Well sometimes my shapeshifter werewolf does a moonwalk instead of running but...
The Beta works really great. After about two hours of playing I noticed only on problem which concerns Polish language - on the character's page, the alignment is cut. I guess it's because in Polish they are incredibly long.
I don't know if it's the new update but 1 2 3 4 5 6 7 8 9 0 short key to select characters don't work anymore, difficult to imagine myself playing without that ;/

And there's also a new thread where you can "up-vote" your favorite(?) issues that you want to see fixed, here: http://forum.baldursgate.com/discussion/22069/top-ten-issues-submit-and-vote-here#latest
And now I'm signing off for the week. Monday is a Canadian holiday, so we'll be back to your regularly scheduled awesomeness on Tuesday.
Tally-ho!

The fix works only for new game ? Because I still have the problem with my current game.
