Okay if Ajantis will hold me up I will give it a try. But first I am going to drop toss a small metal object onto it in case it is charged with electricity. When I do that do I see any sparks?
*She looks to minsc* Maybe you should use your rope to keep.....keep her safe. Just in case.....it tries to pull her in. This place is......is more evil then Edwin. I can only fear what is to come....." *She can't shake the feeling that something bad is about to happen.*
OOC This happens just after Edwin's words to Aerie
Noticing the pain Edwin's words caused to Aerie, Keldorn turns and with contained fury states
"Talk to the elf or any of the other members of this party like this again Edwin and by HELM I swear you'll learn firsthand why Inquisitors are feared by evil mages all over the Realm"
You may thank me for translating this poorly rhymed piece of drivel whenever you feel like it (though sooner rather than later, yes)
DRIVEL, he says? That is only because you have, in your haste, forgotten one who would set this prose to music, good sir. And, now, you see what you have missed in my absense...
[ooc] Feel free to shut me up if I go from amusing fun to annoying. Well, more annoying than Garrick, who is, by most accounts, somewhat annoying (understatement)...
No sparks when you drop the copper coin. You are able to tie a rope around the rod/wand/whatever and, pulling back to a safe distance, you yank on it.
It does not yield to an upwards force, but to a sideways one... Click.
BANG! The top of the pit trap falls away to the side, revealing a 10' deep pit with 5 spikes on the bottom. The spikes are wet with a liquidy green substance that looks like poison.
Tee-hee. I'm not really a lady Ajantis but I like it when you call me Lady Alora. Okay, if there are no sparks I will tie some string around the rod - trying not to touch the rod or the box while I do it - and then when I am not over the pit I will give it a great big tug.
OOC: @reedmilfam lol, no worries, i have the feeling you're about to get your turn. i suddenly have a feeling that the pit isn't going to open, but the thing *buried in the wall* is going to shoot out, spring loaded, and cause her to fall in the pit and carry him down with her. I think the string/rope idea might be our best bet, and if it failed, we *could* ocme back to this idea we have now.
*Relaxes a little to see that no one was hurt, then looks over into the pit and starts to feel very nauseous. To think that....she shivers and lets the idea fall away into the darkness surrounding them. Letting part of her tension go, she suddenly realizes the kind words that Keldorn spoke on her behalf, and an embarrassed blush comes to her face. To Keldorn:* 'It-it's alright, i know that he....he is more useful to our success. Let us just tr-try to be safe through this.' *She tries to smile with confidence, but only her worries show despite her efforts.*
OOC: assuming that we're done here, i would lead them back to the mouth that we were at earlier. I'm also going to do a quick check and see how long my detect traps will last, so tht i won't abuse it overmuch.
You guys have also noticed kind of a red path on the floor. It leads down the hall, and splits at the end- one part ends at the green devil-horned head and its mouth, and the other goes into the arch.
I've been thinking about Edwin's poem and I think that you have to choose a coloured stone to touch to go through the opening. It says you can sacrifice a loop of magical metal to get through. So that would be a ring I think?
I....I do have this magic ring......if you need it......*Takes of her ring of protection +1 and holds it out to Alora.* I don't know if this..this is what you mean, but if it will help you..... *she lets the words trail off.*
*Doesn't accept it back* "Please.....if it will help us, then use it....Bavereon will be watching over me, so i will be...fine without it" *Again, she tries to smile as though everything is okay but can't shake the sense of dread that keeps finding her.*

Tie a rope around it and yank it. Ajantis?

Good thing you weren't standing on it!
But I'm not going to.
Edit: okay, it lasts for 3 turns.
OOC: Please assume I'm always hiding in shadows until we have an encounter.
I take Aerie's ring and get ready to throw it into the mist ...
But then I feel guilty because I've got a +2 ring of my own.
I give Aerie her ring back.
Kivan stop hiding in the shadows. It's creepy
