I get Shar Teel out of range of the door and any companions that might come through it. Does anyone on our side of the door have healing potions or spells?
Korgan snorts. "I'll take care o'them swords," he says, sneering. He kills the one that Kivan slightly damaged with a single blow, then goes out and enters again. Between Korgan and Kivan, the shield goes down while Korgan takes 11. The second round, Korgan takes 19 while destroying another sword. Kivan hurts another sword, but it's still there. The last round, Korgan takes a further 11 while managing to destroy the last sword. He comes back out and takes a deep breath. "Damn things are getting tougher- tougher to hit, tougher to kill."
Kagain girds his loins to go in again. He hits the shield with a solid blow, but it survives, while he takes 13 from one of the swords. Kivan's arrow destroys the shield. Next, misses for everyone. Third round, Korgan hits one of the swords but fails to destroy it. Both swords hit him for 24 total damage. Kivan adds insult to injury with a critical miss that tags Korgan in the butt for 7. Korgan curses loudly and his axe strikes the wall on his next blow, thankfully missing the rest of the swords and shields (rolled a 1). Kivan takes out the damaged sword, but the last sword hits for another 13 damage. The last sword is hit by Korgan, but his blow is too light to take it out. Another round of blows that don't hit, except Korgan is hit again by Imoen for 4. Next round, more missed blows from everyone. Finally, Korgan takes out the last sword, but not before taking another blow for 10.
He stumbles out, panting. "I'd be much better off without yon archers puncturing my hide!" he cries.
Craaaaaaaaaaap. I'd like to think I'd be more useful in melee, but my gauntets got dissolved with Tiaxina, and all my gear got dissolved by that gray ooze's acid. Everything I have, I've scavenged from Xzara's corpse, I think.
We're down to maybe 2 sets, I think? If everyone came at them from both sides, except those who are too hurt to try again, we might have a chance, but I'm afraid I'll shoot someone again...
There are 3 sets left. And when Kivan goes in, they all come off and go after him. All three sets of swords connect on him, for a total of 67 damage. Kivan hits one of the shields, and barely damages it, Imoen fires off a shot, and misses. Kivan falls backwards, thankfully into the room where the rest of the adventurers are.
Alora looks impressed. "That... was scary." she says.
At least I didn't shoot Kivan this time. These things are definitely getting more durable and dangerous the fewer of them there are. How do we want to handle this? It might be wise to rest again and let the people who've been stabbed, bashed, or accidentally shot recover. Then, do we encourage a full stampede into this chamber to get everyone back together, assuming everyone can get through the stabby room without taking lethal damage? Or do we continue to try eliminating weapon pairs one by one?
I think the stampede is looking smarter with stoneskinned Kivan leading the way. Shar Teel's idea about summoning in monsters as, well, fodder, is also a good one.

Well, better cast cure light wounds.
