OOC: You mean the Tarrasque, and if it were to happen I reckon we may need the help of a few chosen or something :P it would destroy the BG2 6 person team

@ichigoRXC yeah, but with the lack of challenge in ToB, it would be nice to have an awesome challenge in there. And yeah, to remind you that as awesome as you are, there is still sometihng to put you in your place. And maybe even after gathering all your allies, you don't beat it, just force it to go back to hibernation early to heal it's wounds or something.

My memory isn't perfect, but I recall the Tarrasque being available as a random encounter in ToB while crossing the Oasis. Don't trust my memory though, I don't recall ever getting to kill it (not like I could.)

@evinfuilt nope, i checked and there are lots of people saying the modders should put it in the game, but no mention of it. maybe you were thinking of icewind dale?

Could be, I'm guessing it was just discussed being in game and never got added. I bet I wasted at least an hour crossing the Oasis trying to get a random spawn that didn't exist. No one said I was smart.

ehhh, there was a monster like this in final fantasy the orginal on nes, you had to have like 200 battles in a hall way for the war machine to spawn. i would always die before i got close, and trust me, i wasted more then an hour trying for him @evinfuilt. so don't feel bad, you're not the only one.

The Tarrasque is a walking nightmare. I remember a long time ago he was to be the end of a campaign. He nearly was but not the way we thought. In a few rounds the ranger and paladin of the group were dead, so was our thief/mage. The only ones still standing were me, a level 19 priest of Mystra and pure mage.

The mage ended up using his wish to teleport us and the scattered, maybe splashed is closer to the truth, bodies of our companions away so that I could use ressurection spells on everyone and we had time to rethink our strategy.

It was one of those days the dice just decide the DM should get all the critical hits and the group should get all the fails. Anyone who has played pnp RPGs must have had a day like this :)

true mlnevese, and did you give up on fighting it? i remember that we had a similar experience where we did a mock fight against it, no story, just rolled up our chars, set at lvl 20/25 (i was multi class so i was 20, the other player was lvl 25, and yeah, there was only two of us playing against the DM :P).

3 turns in and game over. took less time to die then to set up our chars.

Nope but our group had to wait for a day to fully recover, in this time the Tarraque completly destroyed a city, some villages and farms.

I always wonder where the Powerful people of the Realm are at moments like this... Why couldn't Elminster or Blackstafff deal with the Tarrasque, why us, humble adveturers? :)
  • BjjorickBjjorick Member Posts: 1,208
ummm, i'm fairly sure elminster is scared of the tarrasque. Lol, he's scared of the bhaal spawn by the end of ToB, and you're saying that you don't think it can be beaten in ToB. lol

Hmmm if they implement it as it is, it would be quite an opponent, nearly impervious to magic, reflects rays back at you, vorpal attacks that hit you before you can get close to it, insane regeneration and requires a wish to be stopped as it is truly immortal...

Oh I forgot to add incredibly good saves. Even if you managed to hit it with magic, it would probably save...
  • BjjorickBjjorick Member Posts: 1,208
again, you won't be killing it, just wounding it so that it will go back into hibernation. i guess they would have to nerf it a little, but i wouldn't want it to be something easy to kill, or even something hard to kill. i guess i would like a near impossible fight where you are at a clear disadvantage. i don't think bg has that in the whole trilogy?
  • mlnevesemlnevese Member, Moderator Posts: 10,214
Nope not at all. The second edition tarrasque is actually easier to "kill"than its incarnation in 3rd edition...

I believe it's still under copyright or I would post its stats here.

I'm terribly sorry to be a bother, but I asked to be Imoen. I'm a fan of bards, so I'd happily play Garrick, but did #reedmilfam want to play him in the game as well as providing highly entertaining side notes? I just don't want to take away someone's opportunity to be who they really wanted to be.
  • BjjorickBjjorick Member Posts: 1,208
@jhart1018 well, garrick was already claimed in the game and i think was already added, but no one has played imoen yet. i can pm your post to the dm if you'd like, and if you can tell me what page your first post was on, i can add that. it gets chaotic at times in here and some posts have been missed. :)

#Reedmilfam. Sorry. It's not letting me edit. #Bjjorick, our initial conversation about me joining the game as Imoen was on page 7. On page 28, I think, she gave me all Garrick's stats and equipment. As you say, it gets chaotic sometimes in here. I'm happy either way, but I don't want to ruin anybody else's happy.

@jhart1018 okay, it should be taken care of as soon as our DM gets online again. besides, i've been making comments how much we need an imoen.

Curious, are you playing imoen as pure thief or as thief dual classed to mage?
  • jhart1018jhart1018 Member Posts: 909
Hoping for pure thief, but if she's dual classed to mage, that's okay too. I figure she'd be more durable and just as useful as a thief. Also, easier to role play since she wouldn't be as spacey pre-Irenicus. Though, it's easier to remember her as spacey since it's been forever since I've played the original BG.

OOC Looking forward to hearing the words "Heya, it's me, Imoen" at some point in the not too distant future. I also hope you are pure thief Imoen. Lengthy torture just seemed to take away some of her sparkle.

"I've done had enough of this."

Imoen in BG1 was much more charming than BG2. I thought she was kind of annoying in BG2.

Hi, everyone. I'm back. I haven't been on because my Dad fell down this morning- no injuries, but it took him a good while to get him back on his feet. He's kinda sore and bruised, and I'm exhausted from trying to haul him up off the floor. I am also at work now, and it's hella busy (I am on break, but I only get a 15 minute break today).

@Jhart1018, sorry for the miscommunication. I'll update with Imoen's stats when I get home (probably around 7 PM today, considering shopping and buying dinner first).

OOV for the Record Xzar never went to sleep, to paranoid about this new group....
  • LadyRhianLadyRhian Member Posts: 14,694
Okay, so you go back to the room. Remember that Alora checked for traps and found no traps on the chest, and Edwin discovered a source of fairly faint magic inside....

@jhart1018 - NO need to apologize to me. I'm just having fun reading along and am more than happy to play whomever. There was a need for Imoen, so I said I'd be happy to play her. I was playing Garrick as sort of 'not in the party silly' to add flavor or whatnot.
  • jhart1018jhart1018 Member Posts: 909
@LadyRhian Thank you. Glad your dad is mostly okay. :)

OOC: @jhart1018 Yay!! Imoen! And it`s great to have another thief, that way we wont drive alora crazy all the time, haha.
  • jhart1018jhart1018 Member Posts: 909
OOC lol... Poor Alora. Alone, bearing the sole weight of the rogueish awesome... It's a heavy burden to bear.

OOC: @jhart1018 I am a rogue too Cleric/Thief heh @Amardariial Way to shut down an awesome bit of roleplaying opportunity :p I couldn't wait for the crazy accusations to be thrown at Alora hehe
  • jhart1018jhart1018 Member Posts: 909
OOC Tiax does not see his awesome as a burden for him to bear. Naturally, others shall bear it for Tiax, since Tiax is too busy ruling to be bothered with something as mundane as carrying anything. :)
  • IchigoRXCIchigoRXC Member Posts: 1,001
OOC: Is there is any awesome rogueishness to be had it would be by Tiax, ruling over all the awesome.
