@CaloNord nice images mate , but remeber this thread is for females in armour - light armours fine so the las with the shield is ok, and the woman in half plate and chain is good as well ... but aren't the others just wearing clothes?
And i know what you mean about Tumblr and the semi naked or toally naked female fighters - I've spent hours trawling through pics, until my brain has started to slowly drip out of my ears.

@kiwidoc‌ my apologies, armour it is! :D I have a bias towards spellcaster that's hard to shake ;)
I knowww. I've been at this for around an hour and a half. It's nuts. They are all bloody naked. WHY ARE YOU NAKED?! You going to use your breast to arouse the mindflayer to death? >.<
I'll keep looking :) There has got to be more, surely.
@daven‌ I'll see what I can find. Being drawn mostly by men or women drawing to a stereotype it's hard enough to find them with clothes on let alone not be drop dead gorgeous.

@CaloNord - I'm already following that Tumblr blog, but they haven't posted anything new for quite some time. There are a few other Tumblrs that specialize in woman in reasonable armour ... and of course one of them is mine

Not to bee "that guy", but I found a loophole:

    :D
(Um, it... Was actually disappointingly hard to find a pic in google that wasn't give me a sexy face or(as far as I could tell ) a model dressed up as a soldier. Also, you would not believe what pops up in the suggestions bar when you type 'female' in the search bar:/)
  • kiwidockiwidoc Member Posts: 1,437
@meagloth an excellent pic. She looks well trained, professional and otherwise very ordinary - just like a real soldier should look.
If you want to see some good photos of women in armour take a look at this blog http://womeninarmour.tumblr.com/
Unfortunatley most of the women in fantasy armour are models, but there are heaps of ordinary woman soldiers in there, plus a few pretty tough looking re-enactment ladies.

@Daven Many/most women in fantasy art are there to be eye candy- not to be actual women warriors. Women who are old, fat, ugly or unsexy, according to fantasy art (unless you have some kind of fetish) are either non-existent or invisible. (Or, at best, secondary or tertiary characters relegated to NPCs in the background. Oh, or the villain. At least men have more options when it comes to being the hero or a main character.

@LadyRhian that was one the reasons I really liked the various books and games games set in the Realms - they have plenty of interesting women. In the games not only can you play a woman, many of the NPC's - both party and otherwise - are female as well. some of them are even very powerful. The books also are full of good woman characters. Sadly at the moment most of them are beautiful, or at least striking.

Thankfully there are images out there of ordinary looking women. I love to grab them for character portraits -if your PC has ordinary or even low charisma they really shouldn't be unbelievably drop dead gorgeous!

Met a few way back when ;) They are just as tough and capable as men. I was quite happy when the Army let women serve in front line rolls. So they bloody well should! :) They can give and take just as good as the men. :D

Before I get distracted by warrior woman conversations :)

Here's a few more for you my fellow kiwi! :)
(I do hope these aren't doubles, trying real hard to avoid that!)
    Just three for now!

The Site I found this on credited MarkBuckingham. Only picture on it so I'm not rightly sure. Figured I'd share so you guys can enjoy 'em. :)

Both of these came from a the blog of Matt Heath.

@Calonord - Thanks muchly for the neat pics. I've got all three of those pics in my links collection, with the correct artist (though that took a lot of hard work in some cases). I honestly can't remember the artists name right now. That pic isn't by Mark Buckingham - I know this because I know I've seen it in an actual gallery, and I've never seen a gallery by anyone called Mark Buckingham, except for the comic artist. Please do me a favour and don't post a pic if you can't give us the artist's name ... the name of the blog is pretty much useless as most bloggers don't name the artist, and if they do they get it wrong - just repeat a mistake someone else made. That's why I check out a gallery from the artist, post a link to that and post as many of decent woman in armour pics as I can find on that gallery :)
About woman fighters in history - try reading the article posted in this thread http://forum.baldursgate.com/discussion/32463/we-have-always-fought-an-amazing-article-on-the-history-of-women-warriors

@typo_tilly Off topic - I love your username (in fact I just wrote typoo_tillly) - back on topic I've found pictures that are beautiful or sexy or moving or scary or dreamy or otherworldly or truly sci-fi and/or truly fantasy without needing to have bare boobs, bellies and butts flashing at all. But almost all of the artists I've featured do the soft porn images wayyy more than they do what I'd consider "normal". They don't do this to the guys they paint, so why the hell do they do it to the females. Grrrr.

    :D Fantastic thread.
Women in practical armour are lovely. :3
Not 'I want to have tea with you' lovely, but... some kind of lovely. XD

    Agree.
And besides, I would have tea with some of them. Or a sparring match. I am game for both.

EDIT: This has became my favourite thread.

@LadyRhian great pix - as per usual from you. I especially love that one from Mario Teodoso - he may be a T but I have a strong feeling he's (?she's?) going to jump the queue. How in the hell did I miss that one by Aerenwyn ... it's gorgeous! I've just added to the Aerenwyn posts on the Dressed to KillTumblr, and you were extra helpful - not only did I add the pic I missed, I discovered a couple of bad typos

@Southpaw and @typo_tilly thanks muchly :D I'd have tea with them because I'd just love to talk to them. So many of these portraits have real character and you can just tell there's a great story behind them. That's what hooked me on this sort of art when I started making my own BG portraits - the stories these females could tell!

I think these women have armour that's very high tech sci-fi, or maybe it's just space suits. I'm choosing to believe it's armour because they are such neat pix, especially the runner!

Also, the sixth picture of 3ihard looks like her armor is falling off (or being sucked onto her body, alternatively).

Ooops - forgot to put the text for the name in the second post - it's Fred Augis.

@LadyRhian - the character in both LotC pix is the same - I honestly can't remember her name. I know nothing at all about LotC except that different artist paint the same characters and they all paint them a little bit different. I thought the second pic was of this powerful woman flying through the air and magically summoning her armour at the same time. I suppose someone else could be magically removing her armour, but somehow I can't see that being an official pic ;)
I can't believe I looked at the Akeiron image and thought it was a male. I have no idea why I thought that, so I'll grab that as an extra for the blog.
Also I didn't know Targete was on Deviantart, as I've watched him on CGTalk for donkeys years - I confess I've even made digitaljigsaws from his art *cringe*

@Kiwidoc Usually, the "Advanced" versions of female characters for that card game wear less than the regular versions, thus, my reading of it as "losing" her armor.
  • kiwidockiwidoc Member Posts: 1,437
@LadyRhian I am pretty sure that I've found a few that have better armour when they are advanced - but maybe that's a side effect of ignoring all the boobs, bums and bellies pics :D
