With giddy anticipation, I first came to find out more about the EE editions that I had heard were being made of my favorite game of all time. I stayed and began posting because of the wonderful community I found here.

Honestly, because when I pre-ordered BGEE I was told I would receive a forum badge. Now, I'd never heard of a forum badge before (I don't get out on the internet much, obviously) so at first I was thinking I'd get some nifty sort of plastic doodad in the mail or something. Then, seconds later, I realized it was not a reward of a tangible nature. Still, I had paid for it, so I signed up to get the badge. Then I lurked around reading the various threads, sheltering behind some of Cloakwood's larger trees when the flames grew high, and venturing closer when the conversations were less heated. I think my first comment was something about eagles flying backwards.

Well well well... I got tagged by uncle ben-goshi so I'll tell you my tale (not an exciting one but, hey!):
I was here since the very beginning, even if I registered only in September 2012, happy to see a whole dedicated Italian community Area here.
When BG:EE was announced I was like "Shut up and take my money" so I started to follow this forum: I was here the day it was released - I think there is still a "white night" thread somewhere buried here in the Italian forum - and those were moments of great emotions, writing our excitement over and over, updating every 30 seconds to read every post in real time, and complaining when the servers were overloaded because of the quantity of simultaneous downloads.
Then I was taken as beta tester and as translator (not one of the main ones, in our team there are guys MUCH better than me so my duty was mostly to test and to suggest) when the translation project started: I've been awake many nights together with my teammates to accomplish at that but in the end the result was simply awesome! ;D
in February 2013 I became moderator, mainly for the Italian forum, in which fights often happened at that time, (we were three moderators at that time, and only for the Italian forums!).
I had this profile pic at that time:
which is an art by Michael Whelan of Elric of Melniboné, one of my preferred fantasy characters.
After few months, activity in the Italian Area slowly reduced coming to a point that we had a stable community with calm and gentle people to ask questions and to talk with but, since the activity there was low, I started to stick more to the International forums, sharing thoughts and having fun most of the times.
@Isandir was so kind to customize a pic of mine in medieval clothes and armor (yes, that leather helmet is real and is mine) giving it a great Baldur's Gate look, and I'm grateful to him.
Then KidCarnival added some spell icons in the times when madness reigned on this Forum, and we all needed a better protection from it. ;P (I haven't that pic on my work PC)
After some times these spells expired but @Shandyr sold me some cool new eyes so he managed to modify my pic adding the right stoned look. (I think I need you to add these eyes to the previous pic, Shandyr)
I act mostly as an user, here, and I'm glad of that because bad behaviors like flaming or trolling here are rare, thanks to the general mental maturity and open-mindedness of this community, I don't like to act as the "bad cop" but I don't back down if there's the need to take actions. Most of the time I do my moderator job behind the scenes, mainly banning spambots (the ones you see are nothing but a little slice of the horde): I think my biggest contribution is to the spamfilter, doing lots of researches and adding domains that have a sure relation to spam activity on this forum, or IPs that are now blocking thousands of spambots (I'm not the only one, of course: other moderators and admins have contributed highly to the spamfilter growth); also I have started to study spambots behaviors, features and traits, allowing me to go bullseye 99,9% of the times. I've done mistakes in the past about this topic and I unwillingly banned some real users, luckily unbanned, and even if most of these mistakes were strictly related to some spamqueue bugs, for all that I was so sorry and angry with myself for such a mistake and shame: I can't stop to apologize to them for the loss I caused to them. We've discussed much about all this and we refined the entire process of spambot spotting, sharing our experiences, knowledge and discoveries, allowing us to keep the forum cleaner and safer.
I'm not one of the most active users, here, mainly because of my lack of time (you know, Real Life calls) and sometimes just because I have nothing to say, but from time to time I post a MEME, or a bunch of GIFs in the related thread, jokes and sometimes even serious things.
I have good friends and I see them a lot, but I've found a great community here, I feel good here and you're really a good company to me in my free time.
because of the enhanced editions of course. And then i realized this community is pretty grown up, funny and the atmosphere is just right. It´s a good place to be as an unfriendly person like me, because you are in the minority and thats makes me feel special LOL. No i dont take myself to seriously most of the time. But yeah, baldurs gate community is great
@Metalloman But part of the sharing is to understand the comment and what people say and the connection of it, looking on gifs is all fine butas I said it not a whole picture without the adding you know.
Well, I could say "who cares about comments?" But you're not wrong. BUT!!! If you'll browse the pages you'll see that we started to comment GIFs in english after we've seen some non-italian users starting to post in there. After all, we're friendly even in our own threads. ;D
