    I think he'd make an awesome antagonist
    though you'd need to give him a few friends for the final fight with him being level one and all

    Nah. That would be weird. Beamadog already decided not to put NPC's in IWD.

    I'd like Alveus to appear!

    But I'm also awfully conservative and would not like the classic game[s] - IWD, HoW, TotL - to be altered in such a significant way.

    Instead, I think it would be great if the tradition of comparatively small add-ons was continued through a whole new add-on and plot with new locations, Alveus as an NPC, and possibly new monsters (or some IE monster not previously seen in Icewind Dale).

    I don't know who's this Alveus Malvaster you speak of, but Alveus Malcanter is a level-1 mage from the video series of IWDEE ( @AlveusMalcanter‌ ) , voiced by Mark Meer, and he's hilarious:

    But as a quest giver or something like that, I'd imagine he'd not want to go adventuring with you as he might accidentally level up!
