I honestly have no bloody idea. I must started over 50 games in each of BG1 & 2 - well over 50 considering the number of mods I have played ever since I played all the vanilla NPCs to death, and tried each class for my PC. I started playing in 1998, and have played many games every year since then. Oh wait - some of that was playing IWD and IWD2. Does spending ages hunting for images and making your own avatars count as well? All in all I don't think I can measure it in hours .... weeks perhaps or even months?
I always come back to Baldur's Gate. I've been playing it since I was a child and I doubt that I'll ever give up playing it. According to Steam, I've played Skyrim for 28 days (about 675 hours) and that isn't even close to touching the amount of time I've played BG. I would estimate anywhere from 6 months to a solid year of gameplay.
Not sure however more than 200 hours on baldurs gate 1 and 2, I presume. I saw Fallout new vegas savefile and it was 168 hours so that was my wild guess. BUT if someone ask me how many hours spent on "complete" run -which means not including restart but only counts start from endgame- then it will be very short.
I have no idea on the total time, but it has to be hundreds and hundreds of hours. I know for sure I've played more BG1 than BG2. I may actually like BG1 more because it's played with lower level characters.
I once watched my friend do a full BG1 play through. Does that count too?

You and me both! I don't really enjoy high level D&D as much, and prefer to keep things at a reasonably believable level (or at least as believable as a world can be with magic, dragons, and deities smiting people with fire from the heavens).
I am sometimes tempted to buy the EE's on Steam just so I can start playing with a displayed counter, so I can see how many actual hours I play BG from now on.
That wouldn't tell me how many hours I have played since 1998, which is likely at least a thousand or two, but, it would tell me how many hours I spend of the rest of my life playing it.
For a somewhat objective comparison, Steam says that I have now spent 400 hours playing Sacred 2 since it was released on Steam, although that's not counting a likely other 400 hours I spent playing from the original disc version since Sacred 2 was first released.
Shoot, I bought the EE's from Beamdog to support them and give them maximum profit, but now I'm actually tempted to buy them again on Steam, just for the hours counter. Darn it, I can't afford this! Not that that will necessarily stop me.

Then I became a god
Damn whippersnappers.
No idea if I was walking at that point though I'm told I could scream with the best of them.
Not enough.
*rolls another character*
Wow I thought I was young! How times have moved on...
Anyway unlike most of you, I've not spent enough hours on BG. Only 500 hours-ish. I know, I am such a noob.
What the crap is double infinity
