As this is an enhanced edition we need to enhance the weapons.
BG:EE Needs low powered... You can't just get out of candlekeep and pick up +5 Longsword of Doom
So what ideas do you have for low powered and interesting weapons?
I love a weapon with a bit of history too it... The more the better!
Let me start
Greased +1 Axe
Greased was recovered from the ancient ruins of the Farsea marshes. However marsh grass still seems to cling to its blade and when used in combat a little of the marshes power effects the surrounding area.
Cast grease spell on target with a succesful hit.
Big Bang +1 Club
Big Bang, was made to make a big bang. Was the favourite weapon of Gorf from Amn until he lost it...
Deafens target on succesful hit

Cursed dart that after unsuccessful attack hits thrower:]
Cursed dart (or maybe not?):]
Death.
Return to Sender +2 Crossbow
The Iron throne carried these to Neverwinter past an annoying set of bandits in the Neverwinter wood, where the delivery was lost. On their next return. The bandits had mysteriosly disappeared along with the crossbows...
Cursed... Bolts return and damage user.
"Years of rotting in the tepid sewers of Baldur's Gate have left this sword covered in a thick layer of grime."
*Cursed Weapon
*Delivers (X) amount of poison damage on strike
*Diseases target on strike 15% chance (save vs spell)
*50% chance of spell failure.
>.<
always thought some weapons classes in BG2 (such as scimitars) lacked some decent mid- to early end-game choices. So much insane loot is in Watcher's Keep that you basically have to get the super items there to really progress.
& do you think that there should be some kind of change with wearing cursed items? I mean it shouldn't reveal all cards after just simple wearing it, maybe it should give you the message only when you try to put it off or something like that.
This dagger has been sharpened by the Ogre Mage Calgate to get difficult bits of Gnome removed from hard to reach places...
+3 when versus Ogres.
Spear +1
Wielder under the effects of Protection from Evil
Not usable by evil characters.
Should not be obtainable too early in the game though.
Ghoul Claw
Club +1
+1 Slashing Damage
Target is paralyzed for two rounds after a succesful hit (Saving Throw vs. Death +4 negates)
Not usable by good characters.
Found in the sewers of Baldur's Gate.
Club -1
This appears to be the arm of a vampire. It is unnatural and stiff... You can use it as a club, but would you want too...
Casts vampiric touch on succesful strike.
Two handed sword +2
"The very presence of this sword gives a feeling of dread and chaos, the hilt of this blade is adorned with a grinning skull."
*5% chance to inflict death on strike (save vs death)
*5% chance to inflict disease on strike (save vs spell)
*5% chance to drain the target of 3 levels (save vs death)
(Cursed weapon)
(Wielder unable to be healed by magic or potions.)
(Must be of Evil Alignment)
This colourful staff was given to Khelben "Blackstaff" Arunsun to 'Cheer him up' at a guildfair in Waterdeep, by a less than succesful apprentice. The apprentice infused the staff with magic and Khelben, impressed, decided to greet the crowds awaiting his speech with the new staff. People cheered Khelben "Brightstaff" But it did not last long. Halfway through his speech, Khelben was accidently transfomed into a bearded woman. The crowd, entertained flew inot fits of laughter. Khelben called for his apprentice to bring his Blackstaff, transformed himself back to his original self, then polymorphed his apprentice into a chicken. The crowd all thinking it part of an act applauded loudly, and the day Khelben "Queerstaff" Arunsun appeared is still fondly remembered in Waterdeep.
Casts Reckless Dweomer when used 50% target hit 50% on user.
The actions of Drizzt have brought him many enemies. This dagger was forged in the darkest of pits and sent to the surface to remove him from the planes for all eternity.
+1 Dagger. Causes instant death after succesful hit on Drizzt.
Small gnome of doom (hold by feet)
STR required: 20
two-handed weapon
You can give the gnome 2 swords, which will inflict extra slashing damage to everybody nearby (including bearer).
Nice idea but what will happen when he won't come back? Maybe he should be on the leash (long one)?
I was thinking about his height and that's why he should be rather smaller gnome and for everybody.
And good strength for proper gnome-bash and you know, you have to fight all combat using it.
An weapon with 5-10% chance for the wielder to be affected by a fear spell would be nice for example (we could name it Khalid's soul XD).
Or a weapon with 8% chance of dimensional disrupt (i made this one XD, means that if you hit the % chance, the damage done with that attack will be randomly transfered to you, one of your party members, another enemy or NPC near.
A weapon that use the elemental mind fight control of mages to simulate some situations would be awersome too, with an 15% chance of start a mind fight between the wielder and the person he hit, after 3 turns, whoever lose the fight stay stun for 2 - 4 more rounds.
So... crazy ideas or nice ones?
Mace +2
"Known to many as Melvin the Hysterical, he traveled the roads of Faerun as a Jester seeking adventure.
More often than not story's of Malvin's exploits would end in comical failure.
He always blamed his Mace for his failures, although no one believed him."
+4 THACO
Grants +2 Strength
*2% chance to inflict Panic on self (save vs spell)
*2% chance to inflict Deafness on self (save vs spell)
*2% chance to fall Unconscious (save vs spell)
yours are too OP for BG1
and there are no disadvantages.
Minimal: This dagger sppears as a straight blade rising from the mouth of a wingless dragon, which is the hilt. This +2 dagger can fire a magical bolt 3x a day, with the same chance to hit as a magic missile, for 12 damage. Like magic missile, the bolt is blocked by Minor Globe of Invulnerability and Stoneskin.
Bloodfang- An Obsidian +2 Broadsword, the Obsidian having a rough, flaked appearance. Bloodfang can cast Charm Person, providing the sword has shed blood in the last 8 hours (made a successful attack that caused at least 1 hp of damage). It can cast this spell up to 3x a day, and each use must be "paid" for with a successful attack.
Long sword +2
(Cursed weapon)
"Black sword with evil aura. Anyone use it too long..."
*5% chance to cast Finger of Death on enemy (save vs death)
*5% chance to cast Finger of Death on user (save vs death)
User is immune to Death Ward spell.
@Kamuizin I like the dimensional disrupt! Why not start a new thread? I am concerned your idea may be hidden behind all the weapons!
@Kiros Awesome Melvin! Can I borrow him?
Melvin's Helmet of Magical Woe
Helmet +2
"Known to many as Melvin the Hysterical, he traveled the roads of Faerun as a Jester seeking adventure.
More often than not story's of Malvin's exploits would end in comical failure.
He always wore his blue helmet that protected the contents of his noggin until his fatal mishap at the hairdressers."
Grants +2 to CON
On critical hit to wearer 50% chance to fall Unconscious (save vs spell)
Special when wearer is unconcious, character gains immunity to all physical damage.
Axe of Kiros
The Knight Kiros, of Neverwinter, demanded an Axe so sharp that he could cleave an Oak in two with one swing. Enraged Druids decided to deliver their own axes in their own special way. Kiros, staggered home with more than 15 hatchets and axes embedded into him and his armour. Collapsing at his door he ordered his faithful servants to bring as many healing potions as they could. On returning they found Kiros unconscious. Unsure as to what to do, they placed Kiros in his bath and bathed the stricken Knight in the healing waters from the potions. They then set to work removing all the axes and tending to his wounds. One axe would not pull free however. Cloven across Kiros's chest was an Axe made from glowing Jade. In despair, the servants sought aid from the only healers nearby... The Druids! Oglar a druid of the Neverwinter woods, took pity, and removed the axe. He then placed it on Kiros's neck, who then vowed never to threaten the green wood again.
Axe of Kiros +1 Axe
Special +1hp per hour
