No, I never kill Drizzt. He's a good character, and so am I. I am neither bloodthirsty, a munchkin or a griefer, so I will enjoy my encounter, slay some gnolls with him, and depart, heartened to see that being born of an evil being or society does not mean that you are forced to always choose the same path. This will resonate with my feelings and choices later on, once I become aware of my true heritage.
Nope, I won't be killing Drizzt. He's a legendary hero of the Realms, and 99 times out of a hundred I play either good or neutral aligned. Once Drizzt has identified himself I think even an evil character with relatively high Lore and Wisdom should think twice about taking him on. A paladin would be able to cast Detect Evil... I guess fighter types with relatively low Lore and Wis (regardless of alignment) would fight him. But anyway, it's ultimately always the player's choice and it boils down to a matter of play style. Just not for me is all.
My Chaotic Good Conjurer and Lawful Neutral Priest of Helm will of course NOT lay a hand on Drizzt.
My Neutral Evil Illusionist/Thief might have other plans... things are likely to work out in a manner so that he and his party have at least a dozen decent summoning spells available between them before they stumble upon mr goody-two-shoes.
Just as CHARNAME must duel Sarevok in melee combat to retain his Man Card, I will attempt to defeat Drizzt with no cheese whatsoever beyond ambushing him while he's still friendly. What do you guys think of this strategy?
1. Buff up with Bard song, Bless, etc. 2. Backstab with the Dagger of Venom to start the fight, then Invis potion! 3. Debuff him with my Blackguard's Aura of Despair. 4. Smack him with Blackguard's Poison Weapon ability. 5. Run away while poisons weaken him. 6. Move in for the kill! Possibly hopefully getting in another backstab or greatsword crit.
1 - meaningless, but worth a try. 2 - gonna probally need a 18+ (if not more) on the roll dice to hit. 3 - don't know how Aura of Despair works but as a drow in AD&D Drizzt probally has 75% magic resistance. 4 - if hit congratulations, if not... 5 - in old BG, drizzt where always into a permanent haste (or improved haste) effect that made him very fast. 6 - to hit a 2° backstab someone will have to hold drizzt for a while, othwewise the thief will not be able to hit drizzt, hold him will be the problem.
Unfortunally i believe BG don't allow the player to steal items in use by other NPCs if i'm not wrong, so we can't simnply pickpocket him (but i'm not sure of this).
Yes. If playing as a good or neutral PC, it's just by racial default. Drow, ud race, hence evil (assuming my char doesn't know anything who Drizzt is). If playing evil, probably for the same reasons, or a good fight is always a good fight.
It's impossible to hit Drizzt without a Nat 20 assuming we're dealing with BG1's level cap, if I recall. He's hard-coded to have natural -10 AC, on top of his armor, Twinkle, and his built-in boots of speed.

Well...poop!
I suppose I'll just confront him with a moral quandary that is strikingly similar to half the other moral quandaries in the Drizzt franchise, paralyzing him with doubt and inner monologue. Then, I shall strike!
i doubt, this tactic was based on the patchfinding value of the game, the old game for being old have the option of extremly low patchfindings (to adjust to some fossil PCs) that a new version surelly will not allow. I think it at least.
Ah, Jaheria, I found you a nice scimitar, two even to pick from! No, don't ask how I got it. Oh, and if i can't rob him, I'll try to find a way to take it from his dead body.
@UnseeyingEye Use the ultimate timestop... Try and kill him... If you die. Stop, take a bit of time to consider your actions. Reload your saved game and try again!
I'm be playing Evil so killing Drizzt is in the plans, but I'm pretty sure in BG:EE they'll make him impossible to bug and just a ridiculous hard encounter overall... so probably at lvl 8.
@audrin Nooope. Never take it, usually I let him live, but when I do kill him, I leave his crap. Feels like cheating to me.
@Redcoat Can you find a quote of R.A. saying he'd wished he killed Drizzle? I'd really enjoy reading it
My Google-Fu has failed to find the exact quote, so I cannot confirm or deny it, but the story was that he wanted to kill off Drizzt, but TSR threatened to give the character to another writer, so he relented.
I have no conflict with Drizzt what-so-ever. given this, no, I will not be sending him to the nether worlds nor will I rob his pockets like some common thief. ~
You don't have to kill him..you can have low pickpockets and quaff a master thievery pot and steal his stuff, if you're evil and like that sort of thing.
Why no all of the above? (depends on my alignment at the time)
Lawful Good = KILL! ..and BURN!? (cause I ain't a hypocrite like Keldorn) other Good = shake his hand Neutral = Ignore or not, depending on class Evil = KILL!
Also, I'll disagree, Sarevok flattens Drizzt 10/10 everytime I've had them fight. He's got almost triple the hp, he's a lvl 15 fighter to Drizzt's 16 ranger, 18/00 str (+3 hit +6 damage) to Drizzt's 13 (no bonus), he's got better then half a chance of hitting him, and his vs death saves are so high he never takes the extra damage drizzt deals, so he just bludgeons him to death. And finishes with well over half-his HP left.

Murder~
For all that emotional turmoil and grief he puts on poor Cattie-Brie if nothing else. (But mostly for that chainmail.)

I fight for true, justice and all that is pre-shrunk and cottony.

Kills a deadly legendary drow without having his equipment.
Needs that equipment to slay a weaker son-of-a-god.
(because come on, Sarevok is a noob compared to Drizzt)
To be honest I have no idea what I will do yet, hence the second option.

I will run around him as my fighters bolt him down with +2 arrows
