It takes Tamoko a while to sort through the refuse, but when she does, she finds a large gold earring. Yoshimo confirms it's worth about 20 gp.

Tamoko pierces her left earlobe on the spot and places the gold earring in it.
    "Think it suits me?"

After Tamoko finishes cleaning her new accessory, Yoshimo smirks at her. "I believe we've explored all the rooms on this level. Time to head upstairs, but should we head up in the main hall or the kitchen?"

Yoshimo winces. "Lovely, but I hope you cleaned that thoroughly."

"We really haven't finished exploring this area...why not have a closer look around while we're here?"
Tamoko puts words to action and does just that.

    Where exactly are you looking?
  • jhart1018jhart1018 Member Posts: 909
To be obliging, Yoshimo begins exploring more carefully and looking for secret doors or overlooked items of value.

"I'll work my way counter-clockwise around the room starting from the door. You want to go clockwise?"

Tamoko starts searching the walls, ceiling and floor.

    Edit: Clockwise from the door.

When you get close to the door leading to the patio, you hear a voice speaking scornfully. "Welcome, fools! Welcome to your deaths!" The voice breaks off into laughter that is both insane and fiendish, and once again, you find yourselves running out the door as if the hounds of hell were at your heels. Minsc and Xan look at you like you are crazy. Well, whoever set that one up apparently didn't want people coming into the house the back way... or something like that.

I'm glad I packed extra breeches.

OOC: Tim Curry's laugh would be more appropriate! Now that's an evil laugh. check out the end of the vid to see what I mean. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=zPgjOcdQ0fE

Tamoko flees the scene giggling, not sure why she's running but going with it regardless. After that fit has passed she returns inside with Yoshimo.

Once he stops running, Yoshimo acknowledges, "The presence of this second fear trap means it's unlikely the one by the basement was set up as a warning. Our unfortunate friend may have been the only one here after all, but this is a bit confusing. It seems all the entrances are cued for a fear response--except the front door. If our departed friend set off the one on the front, why did the one on the basement door still trigger? Puzzling. Also, likely pointless speculation. I suppose I'd best focus on what's here and now, eh?" He draws a deep breath.

"On to the upper level, or did you wish to continue searching on the ground floor?"

Tamoko can't make herself go back in the room...
  • katastrophekatastrophe Member Posts: 404
"What we do know for certain is that the previous fear trap just preceded an entrance to the basement...perhaps there's another entrance leading elsewhere in the room we just fled? I could be wrong, probably am, in this regard. I'm no rogue trap expert person."
  • jhart1018jhart1018 Member Posts: 909
The fear triggered when we went near the patio door. It also triggered when we went near the basement door.

It could be that any potential route in or out of the house is similarly warded. There may have been a similar ward on the front but it didn't affect us for some reason.

I thought we ran out of the ballroom back towards the main hall?
  • LadyRhianLadyRhian Member Posts: 14,694
    You did.
  • katastrophekatastrophe Member Posts: 404
OOC: My bad...I'm still the worse for wear from yesterday :(
  • LadyRhianLadyRhian Member Posts: 14,694
    S'okay.
  • jhart1018jhart1018 Member Posts: 909
Yoshimo laughs until he wheezes. "I don't always run from unseen fiendish laughter, but when I do, I run AWAY from wherever it came from." :)
  • jhart1018jhart1018 Member Posts: 909
Anyway, shall we brave the upstairs now? Via the kitchen or the main hall? I'd prefer the main hall as the stairway seemed somewhat sturdier there. We can always go back if the kitchen stairs led to sealed off servants' quarters.

Ooc: sorry guys, had to go out today. But Kivan's not particularly useful now anyway.
  • katastrophekatastrophe Member Posts: 404
"...and I'm usually the one conducting the fiendish laughter."
Tamoko then goes on to do an astonishingly good evil laugh, though the effort is ruined by the smile on her face.
  • LadyRhianLadyRhian Member Posts: 14,694
"Maybe time will make it easier for Tamoko to return to the room," Xan said with a shrug. "It doesn't matter. This is vain, anyway."
