I carefully move the stone while praying fervently there's no venomous snake about to chew on my face.

Inside the hollow is a small leather pouch. Removing the stone sends a shower of soot down onto his upturned face. When Yoshimo comes out of the fireplace, his face bears a stunning resemblance to that of a raccoon.

No face-chewing snake! I win! So far. What's in the pouch? :)

Tamoko thinks it would be the height of hilarity if upon opening the bag, a small poisonous reptile leapt out and bit Yoshimo on the nose. And hung on. The thought starts her chuckling, a not unpleasant sound and yet quite out of place.

A Beautiful Amethyst worth about... 120 gp.

Woot! Yoshimo pockets the pretty purple stone and returns to the hallway to check the next door.

@LadyRhian By the way, the ring I pocketed earlier...Can I tell if it's magical or not?

Once again, you find no traps and the door is unlocked. This room pretty much resembles the other, save the fireplace is on the east wall, and there is tons of broken plaster bits on the floor, as opposed to only some in the other rooms.
  • jhart1018jhart1018 Member Posts: 909
I look up at the ceiling. Does it look like the plaster fell from there? And, while I'm at it, I'll check the fireplace in here, too.
  • LadyRhianLadyRhian Member Posts: 14,694
Oh yes. The ceiling is pretty well denuded of plaster, and some of the floorboards above appear to be buckling. You check out the fireplace and find nothing here.

"Whichever room is above this one...there was an almighty disturbance in there. I am suddenly glad we checked the basement first." Yoshimo will return to the hall and check the dead end of the hallway for secret doors just like he did in the basement.
  • LadyRhianLadyRhian Member Posts: 14,694
Nope. You don't find one. Out through the window, you can see the ocean lashing the cliffs.
  • jhart1018jhart1018 Member Posts: 909
All right. Off to the west I go.
  • LadyRhianLadyRhian Member Posts: 14,694
North, South or Western Door first? South door is closest to the main hall, but North is only a foot or two further on.
  • jhart1018jhart1018 Member Posts: 909
South door first. I'll work my way back gradually. Check for traps, locks, and listen for hostiles before entering.

Tamoko busies herself by herding the other party members in Yoshimo's wake using arm gestures and even lashing out with her whip.

OOC: Ah, I amuse myself too readily.

No locks, no traps, no sounds. However, this room used to be a library. There is a fireplace in the Northern Wall, and the rest of the room is filled with bookshelves, except for the Southern wall, which has two large windows. Most of the bookshelves are broken, and a few are falling away from the wall (or have been pulled, when the damage is this extensive, it's hard to tell) but there is a pile of books untidily thrown into the southwest corner, now covered with dust and cobwebs.

(And I will pause here for others, like the mages, who will want to inspect the books.) Back in a few hours- I need a nap.

Tamoko looks around for a copy of 50 Shades of Grey to keep her pre-occupied in the meantime.

OOC Naps are good. Rest well and have happy dreams. @katastrophe *sings* Where there's a whip, there's a way
  • LadyRhianLadyRhian Member Posts: 14,694
Slept a little longer than I had intended. That singing must really be good! ;)

Most of the titles aren't that interesting to Tamoko, but there is a nice book of Dwarven erotic poetry (which is apparently heavy on the crafting metaphors... pounding hammers, anvils, forge fires, bodies like iron, steel and mithril, with a number of gemstone mentions as well (ruby lips, sapphire eyes, obsidian hair...))
  • jhart1018jhart1018 Member Posts: 909
Yoshimo browses for light reading or anything else interesting.
  • LadyRhianLadyRhian Member Posts: 14,694
It looks like Tamoko grabbed the only really interesting thing. There are some ledgers. Oh, and a nice lurid romance with a handsome mage, a busty wench and his magical, ahem, staff.
  • katastrophekatastrophe Member Posts: 404
Tamoko happens to know of a certain gnome who has a more than passing interest in dwarven porn...she might be able to pawn said tome off on him for a couple hundred gold, depending on whether or not he has it already. Storing it carefully in her pack, she continues the search for esoteric erotica!
  • jhart1018jhart1018 Member Posts: 909
lol... Yoshimo tosses the lurid romance to Tamoko and goes to check the northern door.
  • LadyRhianLadyRhian Member Posts: 14,694
Nope, that and the romance are pretty much it.
  • jhart1018jhart1018 Member Posts: 909
    Okay, next room.
  • katastrophekatastrophe Member Posts: 404
"Shall I bookmark this for you? He's just cast color spray on the busty wench and she's been dazed at the..."
Smirking, Tamoko places the romance in her pack alongside poetry.
  • LadyRhianLadyRhian Member Posts: 14,694
Okay, same stuff, no locks, no traps, no sounds. This room appears to have been some kind of study. Now, all that's left is a wooden writing desk partially broken and riddled with damp rot. There are three drawers on each pedestal and a larger, central drawer. The first are all open, but the middle one is closed. And some of the drawers appear to have been broken open by force.

Read it to Kivan as a bedtime story.
