S'okay. I understand how that is. The backpack holds 3 weeks worth of iron rations, 50' of rope, some clothes, a bedroll and a half-empty bottle of wine.
@katastrophe I wondered the same thing. I thought, "Wow. A knight with fashion sense. Wait, no, probably means they go up high, not the heels," though the accompanying mental picture was pretty awesome.
Yoshimo will then borrow a torch and begin searching the walls of the rooms for secret doors. If, however, the ground starts to bubble around his feet, he will make a strategic withdrawal for the stairs at top speed.
Well. about half the walls are taken up with wine racks filled with broken bottles of wine. shards of glass litter the floor around and under the racks. There is also a furnace-like area where trash was burnt, and a pair of metal bins with open tops. One is filled almost to the top with stinky rubbish.
Xan examines whatever possessions the others haven't squirreled away already. He pays particular attention to the armour to discern what exactly is special about it.
"Hmm. The armour is definitely magical. Probably cursed, knowing our luck. Since this group appears to have no qualms about stripping the corpse of a knight as one would pluck a chicken, perhaps one of our warriors would like to test it out?"
Incidentally, even though she hasn't said she's examining the body, Tamoko discovers that the body is just too decomposed to say how he died. his body stinks, too.
@LadyRhian Examining the brickwork with eyes and free hand (other hand holds a torch). Looking for seams between bricks that go deeper than they should or torch holders that turn or loose bricks that push. If they were bookcases and there was one red book on a shelf full of brown ones, that would be easier. Alas, rapping upon stone won't do me any good...
Tamoko looks down to Maise, who happens to be playing with a loose buckle on the magical platemail on the corpse. No wait, that's one of the dead man's fingers. How cute.
"While I agree that the armor is magical, I disagree with your inept reasoning about it being cursed. It is the worms that killed him, not the armor. "
"Uh, guys, something in the rubbish bin is moving..." Can he tell what exactly is moving in there? He's not too inclined to get close in case it's more grubs.
@Jhart Looks like more of those Rot Grubs. The Trash is so full of motion, it actually appears to be boiling. Not appetizing at all. It smells even worse than the dead body. This, in fact, may have been what killed the armored man. It's... not really something you want to get near, considering how far those things can jump...

*Kivan finds a bottle of wine not broken in the racks.*
"Mmm, a fine vintage."
*Opens it and takes a healthy swig right from the bottle, then waves the bottle at the others.*
"Anyone else care for some?"
EDIT: Or his rations?
EDIT: Oh never mind, the knight had some too.

Tamoko starts methodically stripping the armor from the corpse.
