Edwin watches Kivan and Eldoth with a smirk on his lips.
"Ah good, we have found ham and liquor, I doubt the two of you will be any more useless while bloated and drunk. I had thought perhaps to get to the bottom of this haunting mystery, but alas my intellect is wasted once again with the babysitting of these lesser minds."
Edwin begins to look through the locker with little hope of finding anything useful.
@Delvarian The light brown liquid is ale... cheap ale. In going through the wooden bin, Edwin finds it full of food. Black bread, dried beans, flour, some animal fat in a crock, dried fruit, a small container of salt and a small amount of honey.
Alora hears nothing at either door. Picking open the lock on the door reveals a small room, perhaps 12' by 20'. This room is obviously the abode of someone senior to those living in the cellar, as it is clean and tidy, as if kept so by a servant. The furnishings are also less crude. The room is lit by a three-candle candlestick, and the candles, while not new, are not close to being spent, either. There is a comfortable bed in the northwest corner with a wooden locker at its foot. A small wooden table stands against the east wall, and a padded leather chair is beside it. The brass candlestick is on the table, and the candles give the room good illumination.
Under the table is a small wooden box and a bullseye lantern with a moveable shutter over the lens. The lantern is unlit.
On a shelf above the table are stacked three books.
In the northeast corner is a wooden cupboard with the door closed.
Edwin! I found some books! Edwin! Are they magic books?
After making enough noise to wake the dead, Alora will remember that she is supposed to be sneakign about and will go and listen at the cupboard door, then check for traps. She will then unlock and open it.

*Starts slicing the ham and sausage to make sandwiches for everyone.*
I'll also take a look at the bolt of cloth. Is it pretty?

"I'm guessing that there will be a rabid weasel or a giant spider in the cupboard. Let Minsc open it."
"Hey Miiiiiinsc. I believe there is stinkin' eeeevil inside that cupboard. You know what to do, right?"
"That coat probably has poison spores on it. Let Minsc examine it."
"Hey Miiiinsc. That coat positively reeks of evil, perhaps you should do something about that."
These are: "(Roman numeral 1) - X X X. Next line: Roman Numeral 2 X - X - 2. Next Line: Roman Numeral 3 - - -"
"Enjoy."
Folding the sheet of paper he slips from the one book (a book on mesmerization) he then puts it into a pouch. He then tosses the other books aside.
*Kivan flips through the pages, giggling all the while, then carefully tucks it away for later.*
"Very well done Alora. I am beginning to have a tolerance toward you."
