ooc: Does Edwin recognize the language the man called out in?
OOC: I was really hoping you'd cast that spell, more than anythign else. and I assume he was telling the Gnolls to kill the one in the dress . If all the baddies fall asleep and/or unconscious (thanks to our intelligent mages) it'll look like all of my bow shots will hit which will be wonderful.
I will hold off on using my homemade fireball until the mages have cast their spells. If they manage to take care of at least half of the bad guys I will stick to my sling.
Minsc attacks the closest enemy, be it gnoll or mage. And, since these enemies have eyes, the loud cry of "Go for the eyes, Boo. Go for the eyes. Arrrrgh!!!" accompanies the charge and attack.
Okay. Round 1... Enemies win initiative. Guy in Robe casts Color Spray. It affects... four of you. Everyone but Minsc and Alora drops unconscious. (Nobody made their save and Kivan was already unconscious...) The guys on the other side start running towards you. Minsc drops one of the men with a sword blow, screaming, "Go for the eyes, Boo!" . Alora knocks one of the men silly with a sling stone (because the beds are too far for her to throw the lantern on, and now Minsc is among the men.) Second round, party wins initiative. Minsc drops another man, and Alora takes out a third. Faced with this rather strong defense by Minsc and Alora, the men pause and allow the gnolls to take the lead.
Minsc, laughing, takes down a gnoll with ease. Alora kills another human. The Gnoll misses Minsc. Minsc fights back, hurts the Gnoll badly, and Alora fires off the flask of oil amongst the men, then throws her lanterm, and it goes up in a puff of flame. Two of the men die in the resulting flames, and the injured Gnoll as well. Minsc pulls Edwin and Xan into the back room and Alora takes Mazzy (neither of them are close enough to get Kivan or Eldoth) and shut the door. Minsc lays the unconscious bodies of Xan and Edwin against the door to block it for now...
When Edwin and Kivan wake up, they are trussed to within an inch of their lives, and the men holding them look very, very angry. "Who are you?" a man asks, holding a knife to Kivan's neck. "Who sent you here?"
You have been stripped of all your possessions, and are down to a loincloth and nothing else.
Incidentally, at this point, Minsc is down to 3 hit points, Mazzy has 4... everyone else is down to 1. DM: I am surprised Minsc did so well against the gnolls and humans, but he's facing a magic-user, and two more guys, and another hit would likely have killed him, which is why he fled when he did.
Minsc, Mazzy, Alora, Edwin and Xan are in the 30' by 12' room. What do you do?
Minsc and Alora are now at full hit points. Alora quickly finds a secret door to the East and north of the room. Lighting one of the torches Yoshimo had brought (Poor old Dead Yoshimo), reveals that the room you are in has nothing left but bits of bone and dust. The room beyond, though...
The secret door opens towards you to reveal, piled on the floor of this room, a clutter of broken glass and earthenware. There are three small copper pots amidst the debris and these appear to be intact.
At this point, you are distracted by the sound of the others awakening.
Show a little more respect to people and the gods Edwin and I'll give you priority next time. Xan may be pessimistic, but he never treated anyone as if he was a vermin beneath his consideration.
Edwin's talent and intelligence has once more been overlooked by the group, he sighs to himself at their stupidity. To think that he had saved each and every one of the useless simpletons time and uncounted time. Why? He wondered had he even bothered? He had even passed pleasantries with them, treating them like equals instead of the underlings they were, and to what credit? Their true colors had once more shown, and those colors were shades of green, all of them jealous of his power and mind. They would be made to suffer soon enough, without Edwin's wits to guide them, they were as the elf would say, doomed.
OOC: crap, all my planning for nought, how many men are around.
If you could but return me my lute I would be happy to tell you the tale of how such a great bard as I came to be in such a place as this. As to the drunken lout, kiling him would but save me time. If you hadn't interrupted me I would have finished robbing them blind. Go back, look at my possessions, you find items unbefitting a musician such as me. Though, I'd be careful with the third dagger I had on me, wouldn't want yourselves to be hurt anymore.
"Shhh... Use your indoor voice please. I have one hell of a hangover and a splitting headache. Hooo, that blue potion must have been the party potion."
"Who are you and where are my companions?" Kivan looks down and sees himself naked, "did you strip me down or did I do that myself? I cannot remember, but it seems like something I would do while drunk..."
"Sorry, what was your question again? Oh right, who am I and who sent me. I normally would not give my name so freely to a hostile acquaintance such as yourself, but seeing as how you have a knife to my throat I don't have much of a choice. My name is Kivan, ranger of Shilmista, handsome ranger I might add. As for who sent me, it was the call of adventure that sent me here. That, and the residents of the nearby hamlet who wanted my companions and I to investigate the alleged haunting of this estate. I was promised busty wenches on completion of the task. While we're on that subject, if you were the one who stripped me down, I want to make it clear that Kivan is only into wenches. Not even drunken Kivan swings the other way."
It occurs to Kivan that he wouldn't want to make his unknown captor feel rejected and angry, since he has a knife to Kivan's neck. "Of course, that's not to say you're not attractive. If I were a man that indulges in the pleasures of other men I would consider you a very pretty man indeed. Now unless you enjoy looking at naked men, not that there's anything wrong with that, can you please hand me my clothes? I gained a little weight in the last couple of months and I'm not feeling very attractive right now."
Kivan glances around at his captors, trying to take a measure of them, as well as trying to see if there are any attractive females in the group.
Stupid Elf, haven't you learned to keep quiet, our master will be most displeased. It is time for me to be honest.
I see by the lack of numbers here that many of you were killed, but as some of you are still standing you managed to distract the Red Wizard enough to flee. It was silly to flee, he's already discovered the entire purpose of the work you're doing here. Our master will be here soon to close the loose ends *nudging towards Kivan* such as the incompetent lout beside me. Release me, return my items and flee... I can make sure there are no reasons for them to follow. Killing the Elf or I will do nothing to prolong your living. Well, killing the Elf would save the master time, but do nothing but waste your own.
I'm a little confused. Is Eldoth even with Kivan? In the earlier post, Ladyrhian mentions that Edwin is with Kivan, then in a subsequent post you said that Edwin is with Alora's group. So I kind of assumed Kivan is by himself with the captors.

OOC I think it was just a mix up with the names. Eldoth is with you, Edwin is with us. Which is good for us, bad for you.
Though I don't suppose Edwin would trouble himself with trying to save you anymore than Eldoth is.

OOC still: I think she typo'd, location wise I would have been closest to them, with you drunked out cold in the room. Edwin is waking up with Minsc (horrible hangover time.) Now to get back to me selling you out.
Though I don't suppose Edwin would trouble himself with trying to save you anymore than Eldoth is.
At least Edwin has a spell, I have not a single spell till Level 2. More so since i didn't successfully pickpocket any of the scrolls off of him, not that I tried... nope.
"Well, obviously we're all civilized people here, with the exception of this sleazy rogue. I can't even bring myself to call him a bard really, not with that terrible voice of his. Sounds like he's gargling on gravel, am I right? Anyway, I'm sure we can come to some agreement. Now if you wouldn't mind telling me why you are here, perhaps we can work something out, maybe we can even help each other if we share a common goal."

You could always sing a song to Kivan to make him feel more brave.
Comments
He casts Sleep.
OOC: I'm really glad this didn't turn into a fight with undead...I am an enchanter, after all.

Back in character:
Have we got any of the potions of healing? I think me and Minsc should have one each because we did all the fighting.
Then I am going to search for secret doors and trap doors in the room.
The secret door opens towards you to reveal, piled on the floor of this room, a clutter of broken glass and earthenware. There are three small copper pots amidst the debris and these appear to be intact.

What happened?

What has she got in her pocketses? Is it a big slice of cake?
