@Kolonku you don't need to hang around the forums at all to see it wasn't happening. Anybody who comes to these forums to complain comes here enough to have known the progress status. The forums don't even give half of it. Read this:

@Rodrigj Scheduling a limited resource like vacation days based on a ship date in an industry notorious for missing ship dates is not a very good idea. You wouldn't want to schedule a vacation for a new home you are having built either as those dates very often slip as well. This isn't a judgment about how someone spends their free time, but a very real fact about the nature of certain industries.

You didn't need to be on social media to see this slip coming a mile away. They didn't get the early download going for pre-order customers. They barely released any screenshots. There were no advance reviews. No gameplay video was released. These are all signs...

As for respecting my opinion, you don't need to, because it is a fact that that under the circumstances, people have no right to the behaviour they're spreading.

One person said here we need to make everybody pay when we're wronged. What pathetic people you are to have an attitude like that. Now is not the time to make them pay, that time is when BG comes out and it sucks.

    Sept. 11th post by Trent:

We selected our launch day to allow us as much time as possible to fix things if they explode before the weekend hits. We are taking every preparation to ensure a smooth launch, but we've been around the block long enough to know something always explodes. Explosion-mitigation, yup that's us.

    -Trent

This is in response to those who observe that there were signs that a postponement was in the offing.

Although this post does contain a fore-shadowing, it doesn't really given any clear indication that the release would be anything but on time. I think everyone now understands the reason why it wasn't, and why the announcement came so late. Trent did explain it adequately, I think. But it's also things like that that got folks het up.

Not meant as a bash, Trent! I'm keeping the faith that Beamdog/BG:EE is still gonna come through in high style! You da man.

Well, no one is happy that the game was delayed two months. Plus, it's easy to get annoyed knowing it was only four days away from release! Talk about cutting the delay a bit thin... But, it's better to try to remain positive about the whole situation, than getting angry. Now, I'm not saying people are entirely "angry" but definitely disappointed. Just the point I'm trying to make is that everyone is disappointed, even if they're the apologists.

Oh dear, I didn't even misread your post. You actually believe that we should all be psychics!

When a company allows you to pre-order a product that they are working on, customers have a right to expect a certain level of communication. You can't honestly think that everybody should have to piece together clues like some god damn detective to actually be able to foresee what was about to happen.

I consider myself lucky knowing that people like you aren't running companies..

@KolonKju I did not say we got adequet communication. I said, there has been no evidence that they were going to release the game other than their word. Which, because of their idleness, was not very reassuring. Either way, the delay is great, because the game wasn't ready.

I support Beamdog in everyway because I genuinely believe they're good people doing this work for not much to be recieved. Give them their $18 and everybody get off their backs while they finish it. When things don't go according to plan, determine whether or not it's worth abusing them. It is not worth it this time.

I would advise you not to compare me to a CEO, because you'd pick me in a heartbeat. You know nothing of corporate interests if you think I am where it ends with unqualified, insincere and apathetic. There are people that run multi billion dollar corporations who I would not piss on if they were on fire. There are horrible people out there who do things I could not even think of.

However, that does not mean all companies are run by awefully bad people. I can assure you most of them are. I won't go into it since this is an inappropiate place for a politically unbiased rant.

Because unlike Trent and Beamdog, there are people with real power who make real decisions on YOUR behalf, which determine your quality of life, or even if you have a life. I'm not qualified to run a company, but I am qualified to be a good person.

Yes, a very good point made. If the product is not up to par it wouldn't feel right, it wouldn't sell right, and people's expectations would drop for the second enhanced edition. People might even be even more upset then, I'm sure.

Everyone is saying how great it is that there is a delay. In you heart you know it to be false and you create justifications for why this is okay. Stop being apologists for poor execution. A delay like this should have been seen for weeks now, NOT when release was a mere four days away. If I could I would get my money back; so if you know how I can get it, respond so that I might get my refund.

Look at the poll on this thread: http://forum.baldursgate.com/discussion/comment/82594#Comment_82594

It's not like the entire community suddenly turned "apologist" and are secretly feeling butthurt like you seem to be. I posted that poll back in August, and over 70% of voters on that poll felt that waiting longer for a more polished product would be fine if not preferable to a buggy release.
