Main boss down on my second try. Does anybody know if in NG+ they add extra enemies. red phantoms and such?
I have a feeling that much like Bonfire Aesthetics, this is going to remain in the realm of only Dark Souls 2, which is unfortunate, because those are two of the best elements of the sequel.
My advice on Sirris in one play-through is to finish her quest and then join Rosaria's Fingers at the end
It looks like you can do that for the ring, but sadly not for the gesture. You'll be too far into the game by then and one of Rosaria's NPCs will no longer be summonable.

Dont give up hope yet, there are DLCs yet to come.
I just made acquaintance with the dreaded Pontiff. This guy hits fast and hard. After 2 melee attempts I tried my longbow instead, and its doing wonders against him.
In his 1st phase, he doesnt even try to dodge the arrows, he just charges when he comes near enough, but thats fairly easy to dodge. His doppelganger in phase 2 does respawn, but its still worthwhile to kill it first. He loses most of his speed and damage in this phase (might be subjective) but he starts dodging ranged attacks. So melee attacks did the trick.
Alright, you have inspired me good sir. I'm gonna go back for the Black Bow of Pharis tonight and I'm gonna tell the Pontiff who's boss!
Only problem is it drops off those stone-cold terrifying giant shaman in the swamp. Not from a danger perspective, but because they are just scary as f**k.....
anyone know what the point of summoning dark spirits is? I've been sitting here waiting for someone to call me in as a darkmoon blade (I've had no bites this whole playthrough) and decided to summon some dark spirits for fun. Killed a purple and a gold, but got nothing out of it.
oh, that reminds me, we still haven't seen anything to do with that crown have we?
The crown HAS to be tied to the Dark Souls 2 DLC doesn't it?? Couldn't the fact that characters don't hollow without going down a certain path be tied to it, since the Crowns circumvented hollowing in the last game??
Anybody else feel like DS3 is shortest game in the series? My run only took 45 hrs and that is with a bunch of time spent farming. Normally I would expect a souls game to be 60+ hrs long at least.
Yorshka says Gwyndolin is her Elder brother. So why does she look to be half dragon?
Did Gwyn shag a dragon or did Seath shag Gwyndolin's mom?
What I'm thinking is it's possibly a misinterpretation from the base Japanese game. Aniki is a term for older brother in Japanese but it can also be used for a superior.
If that's not the case then I'm totally confused.
Rosaria, Mother of Rebirth could be Gwynevere in a new form.
Her soul gives you one of Gwynevere's miracles. Her general lounging around and the kindness in which she treats her maggot followers all makes me think of Gwynevere and maybe more so of the Pale Lady. We do find the Pale Lady's corspe so it can't be her
I can't tell for which game is larger, but I do know that I took so much longer to progress in DS1 because of the difficulty. Nearly every boss required a lot of tries (starting with the Taurus Demon... , took me a while before I spotted that ladder) combined with long and dangerous walks to the fog wall. Now I'm putting all my accumulated experience with Dark Souls and Bloodborne in my ds3 playthrough which makes most things rather trivial. Especially with those short walks between bonfires. So progress comes a lot faster then in previous games. Maybe its the similar for you?
Isn't the crown thing what the firekeeper wears on her head?
In other news friends I managed to beat the Dancer and go on a lovely tour of Lothric Castle at level 30. I got the final item for my Solaire build and some nice miracles and upgrade items too.

Most linear for sure, but I'm gonna reserve judgement on length til the DLCs are out, which will add another 25% of game at least. As for me, I'm at a good 40 hours and am still near the beginning of the Boreal Valley, and I've explored 90% of each area pretty well.
@SethDavis Summoning Dark Spirits is basically the setup for honorable duels, while invasions can go however. I've been loving invasions with the invisibility ring, because it allows for cool assassinations per my class I'm sure @the_spyder would hate me!
@FinneousPJ LOL. Yeah I am not a huge fan of Assassination invasions it is true. That is why I have been playing offline thus far. But I do acknowledge that they are part of the game and plan on going online at some point. I just want to explore the game (and get my feet under me) before I do.
Its not as bad as you may think. Chances aren't that high to get invaded (except those farron wolves, but those are two areas)
Summoning a phantom of any kind raises the odds of invasion. So lately I'm having some fun as a purple/mad phantom. It never takes long for other phantoms to join (blue and reds) and all hell will break lose
The more I play PvP, the more I enjoy it when people show some duel etiquette. Most importantly:
1. Both players have some time to get ready and face each other 2. No Estus Healing
Especially later when you get 10+ charges that heal almost completely, fighting gets tedious. 1 healthbar each makes fights much more intersting, and people really try to do their best, instead of button mashing, and if that fails: roll away - heal - retry
@Yamcha I agree dueling is fun, but that's not really what invasions are about. Especially as a purple phantom with a bunch of players around, unless we're talking about some type of fight club, but that's a specific playstyle... Invasions are invasions -- your mission: kill the host.
@Yamcha – I don’t doubt that there is fun to be had with PvP. I’ve played both (all three) souls games to date and spent extensive time playing both single player and PVP. I agree with you that, so long as you abide by whatever rules of decency you subscribe to, there is absolutely a value add to the game. However, when your sole purpose in invading someone else’s game is to kill them regardless of how, when all you want is to make yourself feel better by making someone else feel worse, that’s when players need to grow up a mite. All IMHO.
Anybody try out being a Darkmoon? I've been one for about the last 20 hrs and haven't been summoned once. Same thing when I was in the Farro covenant.
Making 2 covenants dependent on a covenant that isn't that popular doesn't seem to be that great of a idea.
@Yamcha, Honorable duels are great but I'm still finding so many people chugging estus "i feel that ashen estus is fair game but normal estus is kinda douchy". The only place that seems to not happen is the dueling area outside of the Pontiff bossfight.

I mostly agree with you, but if everyone acted like that it would be a bloody nightmare to max out the darkmoons covenant. I've had their item equipped for hours and never been summoned. Going by the results of some people farming items it could take up to 90 hours of killing the same 2 creatures to do it if there are no honourless invaders.

So he's pretty much doable solo.

/me fires up Dark Souls 3
So I gave the cleric a try and dispatched the giant lizard crab and first boss with ease.
For the Katana Master I tried some spellcasting:
He nearly cut me down too during the cast, but in the end he went off the cliff. (never really got any use out of Force before )

@Diogenes42 This is also a pretty cool tactic
