I wasn't talking about ME paying anyone, I was talking about those in charge of hiring for a company. I thought I made it quite clear what I was referring to.
Also, I wasn't necessarily saying SoD was lackluster, I was making a general point about modern storywriting in gaming.
1. We do not get PAID to write characters. I do not have the time to write stories because I do something different for a living that takes up all of my time. I am a consumer of this type of media, not a creator of it. The creators get paid to provide a service that people want. The fans are the ones that pay their wages, so if they decide to annoy the fans, that could ultimately be a month's rent missed. This is why it's our job to provide constructive criticism, which leads me onto my next point....
It doesn't even matter whether it's clear or not, because that isn't what I was talking about from the beginning. We've also mentioned how money is *not* a big push for writers to do their work.
Guys, how do I contact one of the moderators to analyze this topic?
@Icecreamtub It's nothing personal, but when you create one on a discussion forum, you expect (guess what) a *discussion*.
However, when you start telling those who make comments here "why don't you do it yourself" and "stop creating arguments" for absolutely no reason other than not agreeing with me, then I consider it an unpolite and trollish attitude, specially because it was you who created the topic and if , by any chance, I or any other members have gone off topic, I believe you should say that in a respectful manner, instead of taunting everyone.
I've been on this forum for almost four years and I have always tried to be respectful even with those who did not agree with me, also , in these four years I have never needed to contact a moderator and make such a request. Until now.
Absolutely no reason? So my reason wouldn't be that senseless arguing that gets nobody anywhere is pointless, because they are arguing for no reason in the first place, and stringing together paragraphs that have minimal relevance?
I'm not here to indulge in arguments. You can deem it as rude all you like, I'm taking a stance to cease the pointless arguing. So I would prefer it if you didn't act so entitled.
Moderators are already watching this Thread, most likely from the beginning, if it was deemed it needed to be closed immediately, it would have been done so after the arguments broke out.
At this current moment in time, nothing is heavily breaking the site rules that requires moderator action. People are currently disagreeing, but nobody is being out-right rude with personal attacks.
Not to mention if this continues I will request the Thread be closed anyway, since I have mentioned I've gotten the feedback and the Thread is being derailed.
If, however, you'd like to still call a Moderator, then these should suffice:
Hopefully you are now satisfied and content that your request has been noted.
Regardless, I would suggest this Thread be closed anyway, if only because the notifications for everyone involved are getting a little tedious at this point.
I'm closing this thread as the OP suggested, but I would also like to note the following (both to the OP and to the participants of this thread).
Goading people who are already unhappy is not a good thing for anyone. This entire mess has driven people who were once friendly to tear each other apart.
Poking fun at a topic that people are already heated over is a bad idea and will only inflame an already volatile community. At this point, most people on the forum just want to move on.
I'm all for open and honest debates since it's a great way to get multiple viewpoints rather than a narrow single-minded view. But then all sides must be given fair and equal opportunity to voice their opinion and, ideally, back it up with facts and citations to credible sources.
To simply disregard the other side's opinion and not bother reading it because 'it's long,' well—there's no point having a debate. Which means the whole thing really does just boil down to creating a topic just to poke fun at the controversy and the people associated with it.
Also, everyone is free to ignore topics you don't like. It may be a better idea to not post in a thread than accuse this or that thread of being a troll topic.
