I've decided never to mess with the Flaming Fist now.
Aside from their foot-soldiers meddling in my business(trying to stop me from recruiting Viconia, attacking me if I help Samuel, randomly accusing me of being a bandit):
Scar uses me to do all his dirty work, regardless if I'm a saintly paladin or mass-murdering blackguard, and then goes and gets himself killed by doppelgangers.
Eltan flat out murders me on the spot if I don't cooperate with him, but expects me to save him when he's in trouble.
And Officer Vai is a collector of scalps who sits in a bar all day.
Now that I think about it, maybe Angelo is actually the more sensible one..
That reminds me, for many years, I was convinced that the "I serve the Flaming Fist!" voiceover was done by Officer Barbrady from Southpark. (If that sounds stupid, then please tell me so after re-listening to it while picturing Officer Barbrady in your head)
Corwin is cool. The dude North of Beregost, not so much.
Duke Eltan I respect. The dude after Viconia I could do without.
I do love the "I AM the law" quotes though
I would put them to the sword but I'm a paladin and I have my reputation to think of.
Or do you mean militarized police, as military police is something different.
However I agree Corwin is a very well done character.
I have negative feelings towards them because militarized police is usually a "left-over" from more authoritary times (a dictatorship or an agressive government) , and they might treat anyone who is not with the government as an enemy, because they are trained for war. That way, instead of looking at the nearest cop as a protector and savior, we tend to fear him because he might be prone to brutality, violation, racism, prejudice or abuse. Quite familiar with the flaming fist, isn't it?
