For my good run through...If they fix his spells, I'm leaning towards a Cleric / Ranger, or possibly a Cleric / Fighter. I am also considering a Fighter / Mage. For evil, I'm going to run a Dwarf Fighter / Thief who loves only gold.
Gonna use 1 new NPC per gameplay, to raise the replay interest for me later ! In the first game i'm gonna use Dorn, after him probally gonna for Rasaad and then Neera.
a Gnome beserker with a two-handedsword +3 heeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeell yeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeah (and im actually serious, going kick some amazing butt)

Not a bad idea actually. It's a long time till BG2:EE.
Of course, I realized that I often don't know. I think I know what I plan to play, but then the roll is something I don't expect. Even though I could shift points, the thought occurs to me to do something different. And then it's off to CandleKeep.
But if I play as multiclass fighter/theif what Stronghold will I get - or Can I choose?
I'm not familiar with the vanilla behaviour, as on every playthrough I did install that tweak (the version which keeps class restrictions). The way it works, if you have 2 classes, as in a multi- or dual-class, you can get both strongholds and it doesn't matter which one you get first. I took the Ranger-stronghold with a Cleric-Ranger and took the Cleric Stronghold while the ranger-stronghold quests weren't even finished - so 2 strongholds at the same time. It will work the same for a fighter-thief, I'm quite shure, and it wouldn't matter which of the quests to obtain them you finish first.
How vanilla BG2 behaves, someone else should answer.
Some multi-class option - not sure whether it's going to be fighter-thief, fighter-cleric or fighter-mage-thief. Possibly a dual-class instead of multi-class.
Generalist mage, the very same class I first time finished BG1. Basically, repeating my first game experiences.
If you want a generalist mage, not specialist (which I agree isn't always better, as its nice to have a full choice of spells) unless you *really* want to be an elf (which isn't amazing for a straight mage, as you can't make use of the +1 THAC0 for bows and swords, though the 90% charm resistance is still good), its better to dual from a fighter even if just after Lvl 2 or 3 (better for the extra proficiency and HP), as you can, for example, specialise in bows and/or swords and/or take single weapon fighting for the -1 AC buff, you can use a helmet (no crits) and shield (useful if go for dart or sling, plus long sword for melee emergency) and still cast spells, and you can done armour if you run out of spells. You can also use fighter-specific potions. You also get 3 levels of fighter HPs. Dualing at level 3 hardly effects your Mage progressions longer term.
Of course, you might not like this from a RP perspective, but just thought I'd point out the benefits of even an early dual... I'm not a big fan of builds where you have to wait until Lvl 13 or something to dual, though, too much time playing a class you don't really want to be, if starting in BG1. In fact I'm probably now going to play BGEE as a melee-oriented elf Fighter/Mage multi...
@Oxford_Guy Thank you for advice, but there are two problems. First, repeating my first game experience. Second, I greatly dislike dual-classing because they don't make any sense, role-playing or not. Thought I admit they are benefictial.

What's funnier, human. Only race that actually can dual class ;].
LOL! Am sure you know that non-humans would also be "better" from a resistances or saving throws point of view, but I guess that's not the point for you. Its not all about power gaming.

Well said. Powergaming in BG already bored me. Now, I'm into role-playing and creating character I want to play, not character I should play.

Thanks.

That would be Me, Kivan, Imoen, Viconia.

Yes I do cut, shave and chop...and yes I will take your money!

1) A normal full party game with a Druid PC (Shapeshifter kit).
2) Solo run with a Swashbuckler / Mage.

What race do you intended to play with?
