LOL! Am sure you know that non-humans would also be "better" from a resistances or saving throws point of view, but I guess that's not the point for you. Its not all about power gaming.
Well said. Powergaming in BG already bored me. Now, I'm into role-playing and creating character I want to play, not character I should play.
Yes, though I think its about finding a balance - I don't want to deliberately overly nerf myself, but I do want to have fun throughout the whole series
I think I'm gonna be a munchki- uhhh I mean Archer. I have almost exclusively played mages the last couple of times, and I'm kinda getting sick and tired of playing a goody-two-shoes who on a regular basis gets upstaged by those pansy elves. So I'll be a half-orc and call myself Lurtz. Just out of spite. So there
ranger/paladin...mage....thief......aaarrrrrgghhhhh to much ....ahhh cleric......dru..mon....damn fighter....bard.....nope ranger.........errr..I'll come back to you later.....Assassin ....; )
I was going to play with an Assassin, but after doing a few partial recent trial runs in BGT with a few builds have decided to play a female evil elf fighter/mage...
I pretty sure i'll be running a (very) evil female theif for my first playthrough.. thinking elf unless Dorn doesnt romance elves :>
A straight thief or a kit (e.g. Assassin)?
Havent quite made up my mind if im running with a kit or a just the "regular theif".... choices ... granted i am at this moment leaning towards a straight thief, but that is a subject of change
Elven Archer! It's unbelievable. Stealth. +1 to hit from race and +1 to hit from 19 dexterity from the entire start! +1 to hit and damage every 3 levels. "Called Shot" ability. Grand mastery in the selected bow type. Even not to mention Greater Whirlwind Attacks...
I've experimented with various character classes in the past, but in the games I actually finish I am a half-elf Fighter/Mage. That is most likely what I will play in BGEE as well, barring the addition of something new that looks more interesting.

BTW regarding ranger stealth, I know dexterity affects this, but I don't think the additional bonus to stealth elf thieves get affects ranger stealth, could someone confirm?
@Oxford_Guy The ranger stealth score is simply an average of their move silently and hide in shadows score, but they still receive their racial and dexterity bonuses. - CamDawg post from August 18. I tend to agree with it.
I imagine there's a lot to learn in Candlekeep, there's the library, city guard wants you to train combat, there's a priest of Oghma, whatever taught Imoen to be a thief.. and if I lived there, I'd probably want to learn a bit of everything.
Fighter because of the guards. Mage because of Gorion. Cleric because of the priest. Thief because of Imoen.
So fighter/mage/thief, or fighter/mage/cleric, because I don't want anything to do with Imoen.
Mage- Probably with no dual, possibly non-specialist. In other words, magic-user : ) Because I want to do a character that was apprenticing with Gorion as well as having been adopted - Also I like the duality of putting a pure mage against Sarevok.
Also interested in doing a Cleric, to avenge the cleric-looking dude in the opening sequence...so far have only done both games with a Bard.
Bard, Jack of all trades, master of none I got swords, and magic missiles, care for some?
I can recognize artifacts and potions with my insightful lore, to incinerate my foes with a wand and enjoy the gore.
My trusty harp can rally my friends or jinx my foes, depending on situation, anything goes.
At the end of the day my needs are met, My belly full and whistle wet.
Now why did you have to write this *sigh* hmm... well since you you put it that way, I guess I have to play as a bard now, it just seems so interesting all of a sudden lol
I don't suppose a bard/ranger has been made possible in BG?
