Oh heck, now I guess I've got to try and think of yet another riddle! Hmmm ... give me a few minutes ...
  • GallowglassGallowglass Member Posts: 3,356
    1) I am trapped in a far place, frightening but wondrous ... it is interesting.
    2) A brave Knight I am ... though you may think me a coward.
    3) My brother is a Wizard, though you know him not ... nor Elric.

Well, another one which I thought was pretty easy and obvious which evidently isn't so easy as I thought ... there does seem to be a problem here, most people's riddles are turning out to be either solved-in-an-instant or harder-than-intended ... the Balance is difficult to achieve!

    So okay, hint time.

The first is pretty much quoting the character - partly paraphrased, partly literal quotation.
The second isn't a quotation, but is a simple literal clue.
The third begins literally but ends cryptically.

    Or Onvo.
  • GallowglassGallowglass Member Posts: 3,356
A Monte Carlo simulation in place of an analytical methodology ... but yes, Onvo!

    1) Onvo's dialogue explains that he's from a distant plane, so his current location is a far place from his home, but he describes his current location as "frightening but wondrous" and "most interesting".

    2) Onvo's dialogue explains that he's a Knight, yet makes him seem distinctly cowardly about facing the feral halflings (although he'll fight you if you accuse him of cowardice).

    3) The key clue which uniquely identifies Onvo is that his dialogue mentions that his brother Elic trained as a wizard ... and "nor Elric" is a cryptic clue for "no r Elric".

    @semiticgod is up next!

    1. I know a bit of everything, from money to law to crime--if not the greatest power.
    2. I can answer your most important questions, but it won't be enough to help you.
    3. Many know me for my "medicine," though few would dare to speak of it.

@semiticgod - this sounds like that unnamed Soldier at Athkatla's City Gates who accepts a bribe from Bandon.
  • semiticgoddesssemiticgoddess Member Posts: 14,903
    Nope.
  • GallowglassGallowglass Member Posts: 3,356
Haspur? He fits the first two clues rather well, although I haven't spotted his connection to the third clue.
  • semiticgoddesssemiticgoddess Member Posts: 14,903
Never even heard of Haspur... There are so many people I don't know.

One more clue: since I almost never play BG1, you can go ahead and assume I'm always talking about somebody from one of the other IE games.
  • GallowglassGallowglass Member Posts: 3,356
@semiticgod - Haspur is the Seer in the divination tent in Baldur's Gate marketplace. So yes, BG1.

Erm ... since this thread is called "Baldur's Gate Who Am I?", may we further assume that it's a SoD or BG2 character rather than (say) an IWD character? (If it's IWD, then I'm stuck since I very rarely play that.)
  • semiticgoddesssemiticgoddess Member Posts: 14,903
It's not from IWD or IWD2, though past riddles have included such characters.
  • GallowglassGallowglass Member Posts: 3,356

... past riddles have included such characters.

Oh. Well I think those riddles were a little off-topic, then!

But anyway, that doesn't apply in the present case, so I'll go back to waiting for inspiration to strike ...

    Roger the fence?

    Another clue:

    4. I really have a nose for my business.

    Jan's Uncle Gerhardt?

    5. Talk to me if you need to sniff for clues.

Ah. The Rejiek Hidesman quest... Rose Bouquet?
  • GallowglassGallowglass Member Posts: 3,356
Aha, yes, you may be on the right track there, @Neverused! Perhaps alternatively Bel Dalemark?
  • GallowglassGallowglass Member Posts: 3,356
    Nice one, @semiticgod!

Even though I named the exact solution first, it was @Neverused who first saw the essential connection and provided the inspiration for the solution. I'd feel as if I were stealing it from @Neverused if I counted myself as winner.

I therefore suggest that we count @Neverused as the proper winner of that one. Your turn, @Neverused!

*shrugs* I wouldn't have minded if you did it, @Gallowglass , but I have one anyways... Let's see...

    1. Heads or tails? I choose neither!
    2. I particularly dislike it when bugs steals dairy products, but there's something worse.
    3. Though before I saw none, now I see two.

Edit: I just remembered my install's pretty modified... Here's hoping these particular dialogue lines actually exist!

    1) I live to enhance your adventure.
    2) I'm selling my goods, but I'll soon sell out.
    3) I value my freedom, but not that of others.
