Yes, I too thought about Khalid as soon as I read the first clues, but then... poor Khalid doesn't strike fear into the hearts of men, it's actually him who is feared in most cases.

He strikes Fear in My heart when he decides to tank. We all know it can only end one way.

None of the above so far.

They must know... but persuasion is not a strength of mine. (This is a fairly straightforward clue.)

Who needs permission when you have sheer force of personality? Not I, for I strike fear into the hearts of men! (I was being very clever with this clue. There is a phrase you will likely take very generically when I meant it rather specifically.)

I share the voice of a muttering mage... at least sometimes... (This clue refers to a shared voice actor.)

Do not make the mistake of thinking I have feathers! (Think D&D monster lore with this one.)

I have one of the most common problems in the world. A certain pair of moronic goons also have this problem. (The moronic goons in question are very well known by all of us. The problem in question has a certain shape associated with it.)

    Kirinhale?

Not Kirinhale either... I am surprised no one has gotten this yet...

Tbf there are quite a few pairs of moronic goons, the first to mind though are Caldo and Krumm, which made me think dryad which made me think Kirinhale (succubus or w/e) but I don't think she has any problem with persuasion. :/

Persuasion is not the problem that this character has in common with the moronic goons... The moronic goons are not Caldo and Krumm.

As a side note the Dryad apparently did have a persuasion problem, considering she was unable to make Caldo and Krumm leave on her own. (Edit: Oh, duh. Yeah, Kirinhale doesn't exactly have a persuasion problem.)

Ok. I will do some spelling it out for you.

The muttering mage is, of course, Edwin.

The moronic goons are "S" and "C".

It must be Shank and Carbos! So the character is... Bubbles!
  • TressetTresset Member, Moderator Posts: 8,268
@semiticgod not Bubbles, but you are right about the moronic goons being Shank and Carbos. You are actually closer than you may realize though...

Yeah, a large part of my searching that time was for voice actors and actresses. It seemed like the smallest list to go through, even after going down the false Edwin trail.

You could call me an avenger, but I would rather you didn't!
Through the murder you committed, you have helped your greatest foe.
Now let this be your guide to the underworld!

    Caelar Argent.

    @Tresset - nice one.
  • RelSundanRelSundan Member Posts: 918
Oh I did not know we took SoD into in account.
  • NeverusedNeverused Member Posts: 803
Nope, not Caelar. I don't own SoD, so I don't even know who she (he?) is.
  • GallowglassGallowglass Member Posts: 3,356
    Tethtoril.
  • NeverusedNeverused Member Posts: 803
Nope, I can see how that would fit, though he's not really an avenger in any way.

Since I have a flight tomorrow, I'll throw a hint early.

I'll still hunt you down, even if I should thank you for the returned jewelry.

    Aawill.
  • NeverusedNeverused Member Posts: 803
Not Aawill either. Props for forcing me to use Google 2/3 guesses to even figure out who you're talking about though

Ah heck! After I recently gave a riddle for Jarlaxle's sidekick Visaj, it should've occurred to me sooner that this one could be ...

    Jarlaxle Baenre.
  • NeverusedNeverused Member Posts: 803
    Not Jarlaxle either.

I guess it's time for a second hint, then, or a bit of explaining:
You could call me an avenger, but I would rather you didn't!: He/she comes to avenge somebody, but for some reason the word avenger would be painful or ironic to him/her.
Through the murder you committed, you have helped your greatest foe.: A villain wanted the person being avenged dead as well.
Now let this be your guide to the underworld!: He/she tries to kill you. There's a bit of a pun or wordplay in this line as well...
I'll still hunt you down, even if I should thank you for the returned jewelry. There's a named piece of jewelry that is most definitely his/hers that you can return, but he/she still attacks you.

    Is it Nyalee?

A druid who avenges her son, though not an Avenger druid? By killing Yaga Shura we help our greatest enemy. Is Yaga Shura's heart considered a ''jewel''?.

    Dabron Sashenstar.

    Simyaz?
  • NeverusedNeverused Member Posts: 803
    @Gallowglass has it!
Dabron only spawns if you kill his brother Aldeth in the Cloakwoods, siding with the druids. So he would probably be rather unhappy to be called an Avenger.
From the Merchant League quest, Sarevok is actively trying to kill Aldeth if you don't.
Third clue, the Heavy Crossbow of Accuracy is also called "The Guide".
Fourth, the special ring the Ogre Mage in the sewers you can retrieve and return to Scar is "Sashenstar's Ruby Ring." Maybe it's not Dabron's, but...

Were the clues too obscure? I feel as though they were too vague or general. >.>

No, they were fine, it was a good riddle.

So long as clues are sufficiently specific that (when correctly interpreted and taken together) they do indeed uniquely identify the intended solution, then that's fine by me. (Although previous discussion in this thread demonstrates that others don't necessarily take the same view )
