When I saw "We didn't make it to Toril in time," I was sure it was somebody from outside the Forgotten Realms, which narrowed it to somebody like Dak'kon, some Spelljammer character, some real world pop culture reference, or the guys from MDK2. Since there were three of them, that left only the MDK2 guys, and the other two clues confirmed it.
Next up:
1. I'm a bigass guy, or at least that's how I sound. 2. I am a self-proclaimed lord, though my domain is embarrassingly small. 3. My son usurped my throne, but fell to an insurrection. All that's left is his armor.
1. The name Gargantua implies he was, of course, a big guy. 2. The description of the Big Metal Unit (the only place where Gargantua is mentioned) says he was a self-proclaimed lord of his "immeasurable lower regions." But his son accused his lower regions of being perfectly measurable. 3. Gargantua's son, Pantagruel, took over Gargantua's throne, but an insurrection unseated him, and today all that's left is the Big Metal Unit.
- For someone else, I provide the path to freedom - For you, I provide the path to imprisonment - Several people came to this place in pursuit of a new career
- When you rescue Claire the courtesan she tells you that Golin can help her flee Brynnlaw - Golin will direct you to Desharik the Pirate Lord (the guard lets you in his home if you tell him Golin sent you). This leads to the quest path where you're locked away in Spellhold as an inmate - The people in Brynnlaw pursuing new careers are: 1) The crew of the Bleeding Mary (Pirate Newf, Pirate Dan, et al.) who all appeared in BG1 when they were Sailor Newf, etc. 2) Calahan, a former fisherman from Ulgoth's Beard, now makes a living as a smuggler - There is another character named Golin in the BG saga but I'll let you find him yourselves...consider this your homework assignment
It is a good thing I can't touch you since there isn't much water here. I am not defenseless though... I want to learn about religion! It seems we are at an impasse... Just go away...
That is correct. Aboleths are supposed to have a slime that makes land based creatures die unless they can keep themselves wet. The aboleth ambassador wants you to kill Qilue and bring her brain so that it can learn the power her faith grants her. The aboleth threatens to reveal your identity but you can reach a deadlock with it by threatening to reveal its treachery at which point it will tell you to just go away.

- For you, I provide the path to imprisonment
- Several people came to this place in pursuit of a new career
- I share a name with a very minor character, but we don't appear in the same game
fifth clue:
- If you mention my name you will be granted an audience with a Lord. This is the path to imprisonment
clue six:
- Someone tells you that I can help them leave this place. This is their path to freedom
- If you're committed in your task, tell the guard I sent you. Or you could just bribe him
- When you rescue Claire the courtesan she tells you that Golin can help her flee Brynnlaw
- Golin will direct you to Desharik the Pirate Lord (the guard lets you in his home if you tell him Golin sent you). This leads to the quest path where you're locked away in Spellhold as an inmate

The floor is yours, @Montresor_SP
2) I will give you that which will let you in.
3) And that which won't let you out.
He tells you about Watcher's Keep.
He gives you the wardstone you need to enter.
And the scroll of imprisonment to trap you inside.
I want to learn about religion!
It seems we are at an impasse... Just go away...
- From where I stand I have a good vista
- No matter what you say to me, you will save my life
