@Arno: Belhifet is immune to the Polymorph Other spell, though the Wand of Polymorphing is supposed to work if you have a mod that allows you to buy the wand (otherwise you won't be able to find the wand anywhere). The Polymorph Other spell is still a great option for other enemies, since it will reduce them to 5 HP flat if they fail their save.

@Mr_Salty You lose your stuff in BG2, Bag of Holding you get from Spellhold at chapter 4.

@semiticgod Don't you get the Wand of Polymorphing from Voltine?
  • Victor_Creed_SFVVictor_Creed_SFV Member Posts: 609
You get wand of polymorphing in BG city, no mod needed. :)

Chapter 4 ? lmao thats a long way to go then for me without a bag  damn
  • semiticgoddesssemiticgoddess Member Posts: 14,903
Odd; I never saw a Wand of Polymorphing at Sorcerous Sundries without the Item Revisions mod installed. If Voltine has one, that's a major game changer.

Belhifet's save vs. polymorph is 4, or -1 if LoB's save bonuses were implemented properly. Greater Malison will make that 8 or 3, which makes a 35% or 10% chance of success, not counting MR.

A single-classed mage will have three level 5 mage spells and can lower Belhifet's MR by 22% per Lower Resistance spell with the Cloak of Minor Arcana equipped and the max level of 11. A specialist mage will have another level 5 slot and the Crown of Lies will add another.

The Wand of Polymorphing will make things doable, but the odds seem dicey for no-reload purposes.

@StummvonBordwehr : Thank you! Maybe this is the answer to deal with Big B for a pure mage :D

Did some testing again with Archer vs. Belhifet and the damage is really strange. Bullet of Darkness apply whole damage to magic unlike the description says. This means a flat missile damage with Bullet of Darkness, which then means that Chant and Luck don't affect the damage part, unlike with Bullet +3.

    Bullet +3 1-4 dmg + 4
Bullet of Darkness 1-4 dmg + 4 magic (is actually 5-8 magic)

    Archer Thac0 -8 vs. Belhifet

    12 Base (Level 9)
9 Potion of Power (40 rounds)
    6 Archer Bonus 3 dmg
    1 Dexterity
    0 Specialized 5 dmg
    0 Archer's Eyes (+5% critical hit)
    -1 Helm of Balduran
-2 Legacy of Masters 7 dmg
    -5 Arla's Dragonbane 10 dmg
    -5 Violet Potion 24 dmg

    Inventory Screen Damage
-8 Bullet of Darkness 24 dmg
    or
    -8 Bullet +3 29-32 dmg

    Tested Damage
    -8 Bullet of Darkness 28 dmg + 5-8 magic
    or
    -8 Bullet +3 33-36 dmg

But what I don't understand why tested damage is 4 more with both? Do you have an insight to this? @semiticgod

Also found out that there's 80 Bullet +3 in the game, addition of 80 Bullet of Darkness +3. 40 are in Dragonspear Castle basement chest3 95 lock, and 40 in Dragonspear Castle underground crate7 90 lock, which means both are out of reach for an Archer. This is fine as Bullet of Darkness +3 do more damage after dr and 80 should be enough vs. Belhifet anyway, after Champion's Strength Thac0 stacking.

@histamiini: Did you factor in the racial enemy bonus?
  • histamiinihistamiini Member Posts: 1,473
    @semiticgod No, forgot it. :)

Here's then optimized load out. Belhifet should be down with 56 Bullet of Darkness +3, or 18.6 rounds on average, which is well below the Champion's Strength scrolls duration.

    Archer Thac0 -24 vs. Belhifet

    12 Base (Level 9)
9 Potion of Power (40 rounds)
    6 Archer Bonus 3 dmg
    2 Racial Bonus 7 dmg
    -3 Dexterity
    -4 Specialized 9 dmg
    -4 Archer's Eyes (+5% critical hit)
    -5 Helm of Balduran
-6 Legacy of Masters 11 dmg
    -9 Arla's Dragonbane 14 dmg
    -21 4x Champion's Strength
    -21 Violet Potion 28 dmg
    -24 Bullet of Darkness 28 dmg + 5-8 magic

Belhifet AC -24 (-23 Armor Class but capped to 20, -4 Improved Invisibility)

    Average damage per 20 attacks vs. Belhifet (17*28 dmg + 2*56 dmg) * (1 - 50dr/100) + (19*6.5 dmg) = 417.5 dmg
    Average time to kill Belhifet 20*1130hp / (417.5dmg*3apr - 20*2hppr) = 18.6 rounds

    Archer AC -22 vs. Belhifet

    10 Base
0 Potion of Defense (2 hours)
    -1 Helm of Balduran
    -2 Cloak of Balduran
    -6 Dragonscale Shield
    -8 Ring +2
    -11 Ring of the Crusade
    -17 Dexterity
    -20 modifier (Golden Girdle)
    -22 modifier (Studded Leather Armor)

    Belhifet Thac0 -12 20-29 dmg (slashing)

That assumes that you can attack 3 times a round at range - are you relying on Caelar to prevent Belhifet attempting to melee you? It also ignores regeneration, though if you can finish the battle that quickly regeneration won't make too much difference.

Nah no need to run away, just going to tank. The calculation has regen component 2hppr.
  • Grond0Grond0 Member Posts: 7,456
In that case your attack rolls need to be reduced by 8 and Belhifet's attack and damage need to be increased by 4.

@Grond0 Really? I tried searching information on it, but all I got was that range doesn't affect Thac0?

EDIT: tested it and that really seems to be the case. Need to take couple more Champion's Strengths then.

It doesn't affect THAC0 whether you're at short or long range, but if you attack with a missile weapon in melee range you get a penalty of -8 to THAC0 (but no effect on damage). If an enemy attacks you in melee and you don't have a melee weapon equipped (either using fists or a ranged weapon) they get a bonus of +4 to both THAC0 and damage.

Anyone know where's the portrait file of Serafina is located. Checked documents directory and game files, but can't seem to find it anywhere?

EDIT: had to export it with NearInfinity.

Easiest method in 2.5 LoB is currently Vorpal hit from Silver Sword. Another easy way is to petrify it with Wand of Wonder.
  • semiticgoddesssemiticgoddess Member Posts: 14,903
@Mr_Salty: The Chromatic Demon is only vulnerable to certain types of damage depending on which form it's in. Its demon form is vulnerable to cold, its ice golem form is vulnerable to fire, and I think the shambling mound form is vulnerable to electricity while its air elemental form is vulnerable to acid and/or poison. I dimly recall that the Wand of Cloudkill could deal damage to all of its forms, but I might be mis-remembering or the behavior might have been removed in an update. Well-charged wands are the best bet.

If lightning didn't work on the shambling mound form, I'm guessing it's because you were too close when you fired the bolt. If you're too close, the lightning bolt will go past him instead of striking him. If you can do it at a distance, or catch him when the lightning bolt bounces off a wall, you should be able to deal damage.

@histamiini: Have you ever used a bunch of Greater Restoration scrolls to keep Caelar alive? Is it really useful, or does she take damage too quickly for you to keep her in good condition?

i know about the vulnerable thing but it still did not work guess my game is bugged ?

it shows no saves whatsoever also Fire does nothing to ice golem form for me either..

the only thing that works for me is melfs acid arrow in his wind form but that only deals 6 dmg lmao and i cannot run him arround since he teleports on me making me stuck in place till i die lol

@semiticgod Although I always stock up all of them planning to use them on Crusader Attacks etc., I've not used them. I think it could work with Caelar, but you would probably have to use them every third round or so, which would still last a long time because there's plenty of them.

why did they give teleport to a boss like that...... realy infuriating for solo play ayit4fr19en8.jpg
