@Kilivitz I think Quarterstaves are harder than you might think to use.
I didn't mean they were easy to use. The thing is, the quarterstaff (or bo) is kind of a common weapon in eastern martial arts (which, of course, are the inspiration for the Monk class). The only reason why Monks can't use them in BG is because they didn't make any animations for it, thus, Baldur's Gate weird logic.

As someone who used to be proficient with a quarterstaff, they aren't that difficult. Heck, they are easier to be competent with than swords, which Monks ARE allowed to use.
The know alignment spell and detect evil spells only give you one axis of the alignment chart. There should be a spell that also gives indication on the other axis.
I know aTweaks has this, if interested. It changes both spells to do so.
Hey @ZaramMaldovar As I told you, I have very little time because of my vacation, but I believebI could come up with a concept for your wild mage and his familiar.
Human, tall, chaotic, colorful robe, floating cat, Kind of a cocky look in his eyes. I had bend his body as if he were calling Bob while the cat refuses to get closer. Watcha think?
Oh, btw, this is just a cellphone picture, I'll scan and post it till tomorrow.
@DJKajuru Sounds good, and I appreciate the adding of a goatee, I've always imagined him with one.
Logic: Game sets up a situation in each game that makes it look like Viconia is not evil, only being persecuted. Then Viconia turns out to actually be evil.
I've always thought Viconia should be True Neutral or Chaotic Neutral from the start, rather than Neutral Evil.

This would deconstruct the character entirely. For starts, she can't be a priestess of Shar with those alignments - and all her background is based on being a fugitive from Underdark that turned her back to Lloth in favor of Shar.
The fact that she always looks like "not evil, only persecuted" and that Charname always shows up in time to save her shows how well Shar takes care of her clergy.
@Raduziel That is a very good point. Thank you for clarifying that.
Baron Ployer curses Jaheria so she will wither and die, then stays in Athkatla in a district that CHARNAME likely frequents, completely dismissing the competency of those traveling with Jaheria.
Merchants in Trademeet have nothing to sell you because the local djinni bought literally everything. They can still manage to accumulate a complete inventory of high-level magic goods to sell to you in the time it takes you to murder said djinni and walk across town.
Congratulations @SomeSort You are the first ever 100th comment on any of my thread, have a cookie. They are made fresh daily by Francis the Friendly Mind Flayer.
"Business has been poor what with the Iron shortage and all"
Is still able to shell infinite gold for the items you sell him and 500 each for the multitude of Winter Wolf Pelts that can be found West of Nashkel. Then if you install Unfinished Business and get the 2nd floor of the Ice Island the amount of pelts you have becomes absurd.
Seriously, has anyone ever thought that CHARNAME must be solely responsible for the reason why some monsters aren't in BG2? (ie. very few Ankhegs, one winter wolf, no basilisks)
Not that anyone is going to miss them, but CHARNAME sure has committed a lot of genocide.
Speaking of Genocide, how about that Xvart Village.
Xvarts: Attack Party Xvart: You kill us when we do nothing to you Zaram: *sigh* I've had enough of this crap, DORN! Dorn: Kill them? Zaram: Kill them
I figured it was because you actually do not go into the random wilderness in bg2 as you do in bg1 (one reason I think bg2 is inferior to bg1).
Added to that some creatures are not indigenous to amn. It's not like there are illithid around the sword coast, not to mention kua toa, dragons or drow.
Bg2 logic also allows rangers to take ettins as racial enemy, but as far as i can recall you only have a chance to meet 1 in the whole of bg2.
1. Buys or Earns Magic License 2. Doesn't lose Magic License for accidentally summoning a Marilith in the middle of the Bridge District. 3. Furthermore, doesn't lose any reputation points for accidentally summoning a Marilith in the middle of the Bridge Distirct 4. Furthermore isn't imprisoned on the spot for accidentally summoning a Marilith in the middle of the bridge district 5. Furthermore, the townsfolk don't run when a Marilith appears in the middle of the bridge district.
Other Logic: Party won't lose reputation for killing Noober, Nuber and Neeber but will lose reputation for killing scumbags in the Copper Coronet.
@AndreaColombo Perhaps not, but annoying or not they are innocent people. However I don't think anyone can argue that nobody is going to miss most of the scumbags in the Copper Coronet.
Only the Protagonist may have a familiar, regardless of how high level anyone else is.
Dorn Logic; Has immediatly heard of "prowess" of Level 1 CHARNAME despite CHARNAME only traveling straight from the Friendly Arm to Nashkel doing minor sidequests along the way. Neera Logic: "I can hurl a fireball like you wouldn't believe" is Level 1 and thus has no access to Fireball Rasaad Logic: Has trained for years with the Sun Soul Monks, is only Level 1 Glint Logic: Murder! Mayhem! Other Synonyms for Death!-Is "Neutral Good". I love Glint, but I think he might secretly be evil Corwin Logic: Travels with Paladin who constantly upholds a code of honor, instantly believes he killed Skie without question and condemns him for it.
@Grond0 The only way Neera could Fireball before Level 5 is if a wild surge resulted in a fireball. When Neera lists a fireball as a skill, it implies that she can do it semi-reliably, which is false advertising. Then again, Neera is Chaotic Neutral so she's not exactly above lying.
It's true that I was thinking about wild surges, but if you want to get picky about it she's perfectly capable of hurling a fireball using a wand - or a scroll, or a necklace ...
What spell did Adalon cast on the party that True Seeing and the like did not affect?
EE version: I can rummage through 100 plus scrolls, 60 plus potions, replace helmets, belts, gauntlets, weapons, boots, flip through spell books, and various magical devices, 100s of arrows, and countless other junk in a bag of holding- all while fighting for my life against a trained woman with a 4 foot hunk of sharpened steal or a 30 meter dragon with swords for claws and dagger teeth....but i'll be damned if i can pull a robe over my head and pull another on.
How do the black market shops stay in business? Just HOW rich were they before CHARNAME wandered into town?
Why is Keldorn perfectly happy to slaughter Cowled Wizard after Cowled Enforcer when I repeatedly break the laws of land even after warnings not to do so? Most agree he is even more Lawful than Good. He never mentions them being unjust and deserving of death.
@Sunder I could see Keldorn being Lawful Neutral, but I still think he fits Lawful Good. The Cowled Wizards and Drow are typically evil, and while it's ignorant to naturally assume they are all evil and deserve to die it isn't neccesarily evil to think so.
Keldorn is the perfect example of an Inquistor. He unleashes judgement first and foremost but will always be around to defend the innocent and will not simply uphold justice if it means the suffering of others whereas a Lawful Neutral character would.
I would argue that Inquistor in general should have a Lawful Neutral option however.
The Cowled Wizards would verge on illegitimate authority to Keldorn, since they aren't Nobility, and thus should be living not as evil wizards but as contented dirt farmers.
Rasaad Logic: Has trained for years with the Sun Soul Monks, is only Level 1
Not just Rasaad.
Minsc + Dynaheir logic: Have traveled all the way from Rashamen, are still Level 1 when they arrive in Nashkel.
Edwin logic: Has traveled from distant Thay, has XP=0 when arriving in Nashkel.
Jaheira + Khalid logic: Old friends of Gorion, have been adventuring for years. Still Level 1 when you meet them at the Friendly Arm.
Etc...
(From a game point of view it makes sense, of course. If Charname was level 1 and everybody else was level 10, they would outshine Charname who is the real star of the show.)
Dorn, CHARNAME and co aren't smited by the gods themselves for basically going to heaven, erasing their names from a book of judgement and replace it and then brutally murdering two Silver Dragons before (albeit unknowingly) bringing about the near ascension of a mad priestess to the Throne of Blood.

Wanted criminals hanging around to chat? Unlikely. No those three are simply normal peasants that the other peasants don't like.
Fair enough
