Seems better with added server. But when I launch stand alone downloader it works 50% of the times. I start with 100-300 KB/s for 30 first seconds, then I get 5-10KB/s for 2 minutes and I go back to 2-5B/s

    Keep working guys

Do you think it is reasonable to maybe hope for a potential early release? :o

I'm curious about that as well... if the game is ready for pre-download, and presuming that no further downloads are necessary, then why the wait until the 28th? Why not just enable it now?
  • DjonneDjonne Member Posts: 71
Yeah and not announcing the precise release date in advance helps spread server load over time.

I say, you should enable the game just right now. :D

    @AnthonyPaulO

A further 500Mb download will be necessary.

Great job with the new server! It suddenly jumped from 10KB/s to 1 MB/s!! Just finished the pre-load, can't wait for the 28th!

I had to use the torrent. Download is done -- or so it says.

I'll leave the upload aspect functioning for a while -- to "give back".

For those having problems downloading, I suggest using the method suggeste by Mortes on the Pre-load thread.

If you have problems to download the files with the official installer, you can try to download them with your prefered torrent software instead. To do it you'll have to login on the beamdog website and follow this link:

    http://www.beamdog.com/client/beam/00766.torrent

It will download the BGEE torrent file which you can use to download the preload data files.
After the download finished, you can copy the 00766 folder with all its content over to the location of the official downloader.

Depending on whether you used the beamdog client or the dedicated BGEE downloader before, you should locate the '\BeamDog\Games' (beamdog client) or '\Baldur's Gate Enhanced Edition\Data' (dedicated BGEE installer) and copy the 00766 folder from the torrent download location into there. You'll probably have to overwrite existing files. Do so as those files are likely incomplete.

Now you'll only have to delete the files 766.beam and 766.status from this very same folder. Start the official downloader/beamdog client again. It will check the files and should confirm that the download is complete.

    Cheers,
    Mortes

PS: for comparison: official client got stuck at 2% for me and wouldn't download anymore. Using deluge (torrent downloader) I was able to download with 300-1500 kb/s and had the download finished within 40 minutes.

And go to that thread and give Mortes all the likes, agrees and insightfuls he deserves.

Been struggling with 5-100 bytes/sec on the Beamdog downloader, just used the torrent and it's much better. Great job. :)

Mine goes up and down. I get all excited when it bumps up to 600 kb/s. Then it goes down to 15.00 b/s.

oh well I will just go with the estimated time I'm given. That would be between 2 hours and 46 days.

    Preload Complete! :)

Torrent worked perfectly. Thanks for the advice.

Got the entire file in just over 2 hours, and I was downloading from steam at around 1mb/s at the same time.

Ho ho ho. I knew there was overload when the pre-loading came available so I saved a lot of blood and tears by waiting a while for things to settle. There's no, I repeat, NO problems downloading the game. Or is it the alcohol?

@PhillipDaigle Everyone at BGEE deserves a wet sloppy kiss. Please deliver. (wertle-woo, wertle, wertle, woo-wertle, wooooo...)

edit: Preload complete. I am victory.

If I'm reading Bittorrent correctly, there are currently around 2500 people connected there, which I suppose would be taking some pressure off the official channel.

I just downloaded it through official installer and no problem too

  • leyshjonoeleyshjonoe Member Posts: 59

What was the "something special" that people who ordered before the last release delay?
  • SenashSenash Member Posts: 405
As others said before, and to whom I have listened:
    - Uninstall the game from Control Panel.
    - Launch the BGEE Installer (It will still be there where you downloaded it)
    - Get over 1 MB/s speed insted of 8 B/s
    - Download the game within an hour

After trying reboots, creating firewall rules and waiting a lot, this worked like a charm for me!

The BGEE updater was pretty worthless, but BitTorrent got the whole package downloaded in just over 20 minutes for me. Instead of at most 90 kB/s, the download peaked at around 4 MB/s.

Now I'm just seeding at around 500 kB/s for the rest of y'all. Hope I'm doing some good. :P

Would you mind to tell me how did you make that link work, I mean http://www.beamdog.com/client/beam/00766.torrent, because I cant add this to the BitTorrent or I am pretty useless xD

I am a bit tired and cant focus and I would appreciate some help!

    Thanks!
It'll only work if you already have a dedicated torrent downloader installed, such as utorrent or bittorrent.

Google is your friend here mate - go hunting and it shouldn't be too long before you're up and downloading.

Also - Yay! My Pre-loads finished!
You have to login in the Beamdog page to have access to the .torrent file as well.
    @railon and @mlnevese

Yep, sorry, forgot to mention that. I didn't have to log in personally, but I have set it to auto login, so maybe thats why i forgot. Well corrected friend. :)

I hope that there is an additional torrent option also available when BG2:EE is released, if configured the right way, torrents only in few cases do fail. And i must say after the Experience with the Client and the Downloader... i prefer a torrent option every day above that other 2 options :D

And it has been a while since i was forced to clean up my registry afterwards :D
