"If you're going to try, go all the way. Otherwise, don't even start. This could mean losing your girlfriends, wives, relatives, and maybe even your mind. It could mean not eating for three or four days. It could mean freezing on a park bench. It could mean jail. It could mean mockery. It could mean derision--isolation. Isolation is the gift. All the others are a test of your endurance, of how much you really want to do it. And you'll do it, despite rejection and the worst odds. And it will be better than anything else you can imagine. If you're going to try, go all the way. There is no other feeling like that. You will be alone with the gods, and the nights will change with fire. You will ride life straight to perfect laughter. It's the only good fight there is."
Charles Bukowski
I just dig this irreverent s.o.b.
People do amazing things when failure is not now, has never been or will ever be an obstacle to achieving what they want. I am walking, talking proof. Follow you completely, maybe not easy but infinitely better than living someone else's dream.
I'm not scared to be seen, I make no apologies. This is me.
The Greatest Showman. This is Me.
Be you, okay. Just be you. There is a ton of hate for everyone, from every walk of life...
Everything causes cancer, everything will kill you...
When the curtain falls, be you. Love your life, love you. The rest is a shitstorm of all the things you've made up. It is okay to be broken. Never, ever feel bad about it.
I have learned silence from the talkative, toleration from the intolerant, and kindness from the unkind; yet
strange, I am ungrateful to those teachers.
-- Kahlil Gibran, Sand and Foam, 1926
Light thinks it travels faster than anything, but it is wrong. No matter how fast light travels, it finds the darkness has always got there first, and is waiting for it.
My Favorite Book of all-time Blood Meridian by Cormac McCarthy. A quote from The Judge
“It makes no difference what men think of war”, said the judge. “War endures. As well ask men what they think of stone. War was always here. Before man was, war waited for him. The ultimate trade awaiting its ultimate practitioner. That is the way it was and will be. That way and not some other way.”
Honestly though this book is chock full of amazing quotes/insights.
All war is a symptom of man's failure as a thinking animal.

Sorry, posted twice. It is so loud here. I have forgotten what it was like and can't sleep. Was rereading Grapes of Wrath for maybe the hundredth time and thought of this quote that I had quite forgotten.
BTW the Worhol was from my dinner. This older guy kept trying to impress everyone with his intimate knowledge of those contemporaries. Worlhol, Basquiat, Pollock. Kinda felt bad for him. Not that he lived in those times, but that he felt that was all he had to offer. Is that not scary? I hope that I never feel that way. That the best I had to offer this world was what others paid in blood and tears for.
If the doors of perception were cleansed every thing would appear to man as it is, infinite. For man has closed himself up, till he sees all things thro' narrow chinks of his cavern.
