@Skatan the +3 bonus from Dexterity brought it to a 10, which was just enough to succeed. One point lower, and you would have failed.
@Rik_Kirtaniya depends on if Anduin tries to keep it from being removed. He can grab onto it and stop the Mage Hand from pulling it away, though he’d have one less free hand.

At least it'll distract him for some time, and also make him vulnerable to the attacks of other party members.
“This orc king you heard about, is he dangerous? What of his men? We were informed of his arrival by Miranda, but she didn’t know much.”
"Yes, you questioned us about the orc king before the others interrupted. So, we don't know much more about that one, than Miranda. But we talked with his henchmans. One was an odd halfling fellow by the name of Harvey Toetwiddler, riding on a Saint Bernard, and controlling two wolves. His companion was an even odder fellow, a scorpionmen called Ixion. They were fighting deadly against the orcs, and the halfling used some kind of druidic magic. We were lucky, that they were non-hostile against us, i don't think we would have any chance in a fight with them."
“I see,” Emeril says. “In that case, we should probably send someone to engage in some diplomacy. Maybe we can get them to at least agree not to attack any of the settlements.” She ponders for a moment, then says “I will have a job for you later, if you and your companions don’t mind. For now, do whatever pleases you. I will send a messenger for you when the time comes.”
Love how these guys are still completely oblivious to what’s happening upstairs.
Ignatius levitates (innate) down the stairs to Emeril and others. He announces grimly:
"Your mage friend upstairs is no longer there, And her place has been taken by an imposter. This foul villain with intentions evil, Has placed our friend on a dissection table.
He seeks to injure with a curious tool, Hence we must proceed swift and cool. Make haste, move on, up the stairs! And destroy this villain for what he dares."
*Erica the gnome, priestess of Sune, looks up in surprise as Vaga looms over him*
I wasn't going to hurt her I was going to restore her beauty! I'm a cleric it is what clerics are supposed to do!
*Anduin then points a gloved finger (long, delicate and thin like that of a musician, Erica must play beautifully Vaga observes) at Ignatius. (Ignatuis looks on incredulously at the second mask adorning the gnomes face that was beneath the first one that now lies on the floor*
And who are you calling an imposter! I have been instructed to help you by Roan. I just wanted to cure this poor girls affliction.
*Erica grabs Gastonette's hand and strokes it soothingly*
*Erica's eyes spot the belt*
Wait... Are you... Are you wearing the belt of...
The belt of PERIODIC PAIN!
...
Bravo! I have never met a man brave enough to wear it! Are you going all the way? Are you going to have a baby? Is this your mate?
*Erica grabs Vaga's hand with his other glove and smiles sweetly up between Gastonette and Vaga*
Don't worry, @Anduin, we haven't attacked you (Erica) yet. I've just called for reinforcements. Maybe they will help to clear things up even better. Things will not change much even if I edit, just the people downstairs will not be present in the latter case. I think it'll be interesting to see how they react to this scene, so I'm calling them upstairs. What do you say?
Also, by the time Erica (is it a male name?) has started speaking, Ignatius has already moved downstairs. So he hasn't heard what Erica has said now. If Erica's intentions are not evil, we will not attack.
*Fiora is saying goodbye to the sisters when she feels a great evil, which is strange, as she isn't using detect evil. It must be a truely evil presence. SHe rushes upstairs*
@Anduin I'm assuming, since you are using your forum name, that you are still a super evil lich. I can edit my post if not.
“Peri... periodic... periodic pain...?” stammers Guston(ette) in confusion. Then it suddenly dawns on him. The revelation of the strange gnome’s reference is accompanied by a loud, fearful POP! from one of his boils.
“What!?” he screeches girlishly. “No! By the holy name of all the gods, no! I want this blasted belt removed!
“...though I must say, these thick, curly locks are quite heavenly...” he says, suddenly catching sight of one of the Sunite mirrors in the room. He gives a quite feminine fluff of the hair resting on his slim shoulders.
“Wait! No! What am I saying?! Get this belt off me! Please, I have gold. And... and... and...” he searches around for something else he can offer the gnome, “...and...”
Failing to come up with something else to offer, his sentence merely trails off as his pretty hand wipes the slime dripping down his delightfully petite chin.
“These boils you see,” he whines pitifully, “are the result of a curse from one of my god’s priestess’s. I betrayed Chauntea’s faith and trust and now I am cursed to be ugly...”
Whereas before, moments like these caused him to be angry or self-pitying, now his emotive response is very different. He begins to cry.
It’s not a pity-inducing sight. In fact, it’s rather hideous and a little disturbing.
Then suddenly the second part of the gnome’s conversation dawns on him. He stops crying and looks up at Vaga in a measure of oddity.
Of course, were the dwarf a little taller, and maybe had a decent job... and his constant nakedness is a plus...
What?! No! Aaaa!!!
“I need this belt off me!” Guston(ette) is back in panic mode. He leaves his embarrassing thought unsaid, but he does scream a little grunting, coughing, self-denying mouth-fart of disgust.
I am Anduin forever but you have to figure out if I'm evil
*Anduin/Erica looks at Vaga and Gastonette a little crest fallen*
I can remove the belt for free Gastonette... All I ask is that you return to me a ring of great evil. If on your travels you find a ring that renders it's wearer the looks of a hideous zombie...
*Anduin/Erica shudders*
Please. I beg you. Return it to me so that I priest of Sune, goddess of love and beauty, can destroy this creation of ugliness and malformity.
Now. Allow me to help.
*Anduin casts remove curse*
*The belt falls to the floor. Gastonette becomes Gaston once more.*
*Anduin picks up the the belt and does a little happy dance. Looks at the doorway and the reinforcements on the way and starts making strange shapes with his arms.*
Kaled reaches the room just in the right time to hear the scream. "What are you doing here? Oh, Guston, i did not thought this, but it's a relief to see you normal again. But where is the cleric?"
Guston() smiles weakly at Fiora and Vaga and Kaled. His relief is obvious. He looks in the mirror and sees his normal hair and normal waist. He also notices his normal... equipment.
Suddenly struck by a sudden fear, he stares very intensely at Vaga, searching trepidatiosly within himself for that dreaded, looming shadow of attraction he felt earlier.
Thankfully, he finds the dwarf as unattractive as before, though Guston’s proximity and constant staring could sort of awkwardly hint otherwise to the common passerby.
“I don’t know where the gnome went,” says Guston. “But in return for my masculinity, I have been tasked with returning a ring of zombie appearance to the Sunite’s possession.”
Breaking out his lockpick set, Guston approaches the chest to find out what is making that noise inside. He tries to open the chest, as it sounds like someone may be trying to get out.
“I don’t know where the gnome went,” says Guston. “But in return for my masculinity, I have been tasked with returning a ring of zombie appearance to the Sunite’s possession.”
Ignatius says to Guston:
"What the gnome did was of his own volition, Hence that puts you under no obligation. His strange demeanor and haste in escaping, Has betrayed what he was really thinking.
To the evil ring, he won't mete destruction, But instead work on its shrewd manipulation To accomplish some goal of great evil, Till then, his real intentions he won't reveal.
The curse on the girdle he lifted hence, Was not an act of kindly benevolence. That accursed object he'll now seek to use, On some person foolish to believe his ruse.
Hence his dubious quest you must promptly reject, For what we are dealing with is no simple subject. Your curse is now lifted, for that feel glad, But seek not this ring, lest happen something bad.
However, if perchance, we stumble upon this evil ring, We ourselves must destroy this malevolent thing. With that in mind, one more thing you must never forget, Before equipping something, you must identify it."
Just as Guston hears the satisfying click of the lock opening, the chest opens immediately, and he is barely able to jump out of the way as a blast of energy flies from the chest’s opening and crashes into the wall, resulting in a loud bang as multiple potions that lined the wall fall to the floor and shatter. A young, petit woman with black hair wearing a purple mage robe quickly rises to her feet and glowers at Guston. “YOU!” She shrieks. “Impertinent little charlatan! You dare strike a true priestess of Chauntea?! Myriad curses upon you for your continued acts of spontaneous debauchery!”
Just as she finishes her yelling, Emeril reaches the top of the stairs. “Erica!” she exclaims. “What happened?!” Erica points an accusatory finger at Guston and says “This pompous ignoramus knocked me out and put me in one of my own chests! Such blatant disregard for a devoted servant of his own faith is hardly conducive to his quest for redemption!”
Emeril looks from her to Guston and cocks her head. “What happened?” she asks.
"There is some great misunderstanding, I fear, One that we must immediately clear. Doubly deceived have been, by a cunning villain, First this priestess, then this priest fallen.
A gnome, doubly masked, with a fruit bowl hat, In place of this priestess, here in this parlour sat. Taking in his hand a deadly drill, This priest, the gnome tried to kill.
However, for our intervention swift, The gnome made a hasty retreat. Through a strange portal he disappeared, Leaving us perplexed and bewildered.
Chauntea's true priestess here shocked, Was by the gnome earlier locked. Thus the gnome removing her, Took her place as an imposter.
What happened then, all have seen, And 'tis surely evil that the gnome did mean. Though his plans we succeeded to frustrate, 'Tis certain he will soon retaliate.
For now, this priestess we must assist, For she can help us clear this mist Of doubts, and questions, and events queer, For there's greater evil we are yet to discover."
Emeril looks to Ignatius, then says “It’s alright, Erica. Just calm down and tell me what happened.” Erica sighs while still glaring at Guston. “Well,” she says. “SOMEONE knocked me out when I was working. Just bopped my head from behind. And THIS ONE...” She points her finger at Guston again. “This one is a charlatan who rightfully had a curse placed upon him by the goddess Chauntea herself. Who’s to say he isn’t the one who knocked me out? I wouldn’t be so quick to dismiss his guilt!” She continues to glare.
Guston cowers to the priestess of Chauntea. He licks his lips, as he is nervous to once again be in the presence of a priestess in good standing with his god. Of course, as would be expected, his cowering nervousness just makes him look guilty.
“I don’t really know what happened, but I didn’t lock this priestess up,” he says to Emeril, wiping at one of his boils that had broken in the excitement. “In fact, I just finished freeing her from the chest. The gnome that just removed the belt of femininity from me disappeared with the girdle... the little child here seems to suspect the gnome is the one that locked up this good priestess of Chauntea. I don’t really see any evidence for that, but it could be possible. He was a rather suspicious-looking character, but then again so am I.”
Turning to the priestess, “It’s true that I’ve been cursed by our god,” Guston says miserably and in sincerity. “I am on a quest for redemption. It is my one driving motivation that keeps me alive. I had hoped that this quest I just completed for Roan would have been the key to my redemption, but it seems Chauntea still has something for me to learn.
“I would never strike or harm a member of Chauntea’s priesthood,” he says, licking his lips and clawing at his face in fear and consternation. “To do so would be anathema to me. I know my curse is justly deserved, and these boils are a mark of my shame. But I would not further that shame by harming the beloved of Chauntea again, as I did in the past.
“In truth, I didn’t even know you were in the chest. I thought the gnome was Roan’s priestess named Erica, of Sune? But you also appear to be named Erica, of Chauntea. Right now I’m a little confused and just glad to have my own waist and chest back, and glad that your spell missed so that I still have a chance to redeem myself before I meet Chauntea in the next life.”
Vaga, being uninteresting in owning things, has no interest in browsing the wares. He will remain here and wait for the others to conclude their business. In the meantime he moves to the side of the room and sits down on his knees for a while.
Besides calming down a person, Charm Person also reduces store prices, right? If the others wish, Ignatius can try casting Charm Person on Erica and see if it works to calm down Erica and make her provide a discount to the party, and maybe, give something for free?
Also my CHA modifier (+5) will be added to the spell's Save DC, am I right? Let's see what happens... It should work, but even if it doesn't, Erica shouldn't go hostile, so there's nothing to worry about.
The spell save DC is 16, right? [10 + 1(spell level) + 5(CHA modifier)]
Ignatius casts Charm Person: Erica
One more thing, since we've finished quite a fair number of quests already, I hope we'll be levelling up soon?
"I'll vouch for Guston. I have not known him to be capable of random violence in the time I've known him" *She walks over to Guston and puts a hand on his shoulder, only slightly hesitating to make sure not to touch a boil."
"By the way, who is holding my share of the reward?"
I imagine Fiora looks quite silly, stadning on her toes to try and reach Guston's shoulder.
