Fiora’s blade takes on a divine glow as she brings it down upon the gargoyle.
Fiora: Attack: 13+3=16
And the gargoyle notices the glow and spins around just in time to block the strike with its wing. It sneers at her and attacks.
???: Attack: 5+7=12
And Fiora is able to bring up her shield to bat its claw aside.
Erica chants an incantation...
???: Reflex save: 20+2
And the gargoyle nimbly flaps its wings and flies back as a column of flame descends from the ceiling. A part of the column branches off and strikes it as it dodges, and it grunts in pain.
Vaga continues his onslaught with another Flurry of Blows.
Vaga: Attack: 13, 7
The gargoyle knocks the first fist aside, and ducks under the second.
As has been stated, Guston is no kind of fighter and , ironically as a former priest, he is terrified of the undead. His earlier moment of bravery was shattered the moment the skeletons came to life. So, like a typical cowardly thief, he ducked into cover and let his more capable companions handle the situation.
Now that fighting seems to have broken out with this Nate character thing, he realizes that Chauntea did not spare him so he could sit in the corner, hiding like a frightened child.
Asking once again for Chauntea’s mercy, he casts Shillelagh, calling on her life-giving bounty, and tries to sneak up behind Nate. Then he will sneak attack the creature’s tail with the weapon.
He is under no allusions that this will work. He’s not strong, and has no weapons training to speak of. The fear has taken him again, and he’s visibly shaking for any that can see him.
He knows he’d be better served if he had a crossbow, but he doesn’t. He’d be better served even with Magic Stone, but he didn’t prepare that this morning. He prepared Sancuary, because he is cowardly, Shillelagh, one of Chauntea’s favorite spells, and 2 spells of Cure light wounds, just in case he got stabbed.
And so he sneaks up carefully to take a tentative strike at what he hopes is a vital spot on the creature, knowing full well his instincts could be completely wrong and he may die. Like a coward. In a hole.
Guston sneaks behind the gargoyle and bops it with his shillelagh. The creature turns to look at him, just as Ignatius casts Sunscorch.
???: Reflex save: 5+3=8
And the gargoyle takes a heavy hit, though it doesn’t seem to be blinded. It does seem to be in pain, though. As it reels from the assault, Kaled fires a Magic Missile, which gets completely absorbed by its magic resistance, and charges forward to attack.
Kaled: Attack: 19+3=22
And the gargoyle takes another hit, but continues to stand. In order to keep its attention on her, Fiora makes an Attack of her own.
Fiora: Attack: 10
Which is blocked by its wing. The gargoyle, seeing its chances for victory becoming slimmer, vanishes. Erica, however, casts Invisibility Purge, and it becomes visible again. Cursing its luck, the gargoyle lashes out one more time against Fiora, hoping to take her down with it, at least.
???: 3+7=10
And Fiora shrugs it’s Attack away with her shield.
As Guston makes his swing, the gargoyle’s tail wraps around his club and holds it in place. Seeing this as an opportunity, Ignatius sends his Psychic Blade.
Ignatius: Attack: 4+4=8
The gargoyle nimbly twists its tail to evade the attack. Vaga snarls as he throws two more punches.
Vaga: Attack: 3, 16
The gargoyle ducks under the first and blocks the second with its arm. Erica casts Magic Missile herself, and 5 missiles fly towards it. 3 are absorbed, but 2 make it past its resistance, striking it and taking out chunks of its stone form. Kaled attacks it with his sword again.
Kaled: Attack: 11+3=14
And the gargoyle, now on the defensive bats it away desperately as it tries to stay alive. Fiora attacks next.
Fiora: Attack: 10
And the gargoyle blocks it with its wing again.
“This is not going to be my tomb!” The gargoyle says. “Looks like I must use this thing, after all!” He holds up a stone that glows in the darkness of the tomb, and appears to be sucked inside of it. The stone stops glowing and falls to the floor, inert. The tomb grows silent once again.
Seeing the Gargoyle making another cowardly escape, Ignatius realises that this is the time to finish the ritual and swiftly evacuate this tomb before another threat arrives. He says to Erica:
"This stillness will not long last, Hence perform the ritual fast. Swiftly do whatever you must, For danger has not yet passed.
Lie here strewn many a bone, Which may rise, 'tis well known. And here this foul piece of stone, Through which fled the monster lone.
All these artifacts of evil, Whose motives are but to kill, And we are not quite safe until Our escape we promptly fulfill.
Yet, even if more perils befall, Let us answer each others' call. All for one, and one for all, United we stand, divided we fall."
“The ritual will take a few minutes,” Erica says. “I’m still worried about that gnome, but it isn’t my purpose here. Enough talking, now I must perform the ritual.” From her bag, she pulls out several candles that look like leaves wrapped with twine. She carefully set them down on the floor around her and kneels, then says “Do not disturb me. It is very important that I complete this ritual.” She then begins to pray, not wasting any more time.
“After a time, Erica finishes the ritual. She stands and says “There’s something else I want to check on. Remember when the door said something about a throne? Well, perhaps we should follow up on that. I want to go down the other tunnel.”
*Fiora begins to feel much better though she is still rather sore and winded*
"Thanks Guston, can I lean on you for a moment to catch my breath? Good work everyone, I'd call that a success! I'm surprised you know so many spells Ignatius, you must be an accomplished Bard!"
I was worried there for a minute. Taking a crit immediately in the first combat? That's some luck
I'm surprised you know so many spells Ignatius, you must be an accomplished Bard!
Ignatius merely smiles, but doesn't say anything more. As you look into his eyes, you sense a strange power that makes you feel reassured and fearless.
“Look,” says Erica. “That gnome was up to something, and I want to know what it was. You can go home, if you like, but I’m going deeper inside.” With that, she exits the chamber and proceeds down the tunnel.
*Anduin looks onwards walking a path of cobbles, either side pulsating red in his vision, showing traps. The corridor then opens up into a high ceiling vault.*
Sooo, is this the treasure vault, or knowing Chauntea, the forgotten potting shed... Gardeners are not known for magic swords, gems or gilt... Baah! It has to be close by!
"We shouldn't leave Erica to enter the tunnels alone, and splitting up is too dangerous. Someone is out to get us." *She stands up straight despite the soreness*
I'm not sure how this is gonna go for Fiora. I NEVER play tanks. And I can see her easily getting in over her head with her personality.
Erica casts Find Traps and walks on. The party follows her. After some time, they come across a lit pebble. Erica lets out a chuckle and gives it a wide berth as she goes around it. Eventually, they find another closed door.

Keep it up @Nimran !
Ignatius conjures another Psychic Blade. This time he will attempt to sever the Gargoyle's tail.

They survived? By the mercy of Lathander! I must continue... They would not understand the meaning of my... Charity...
*Anduin suddenly senses a glimmer of his hunted prize*
Ah! There you are!
*Anduin once more disappears into the darkness*
The irony of the accusation seems lost on Guston.
He comes up to Fiora to treat her wounds with his magic. “Is anyone else injured?” he asks. “Everyone here ok? I don’t think anyone else got hurt.
“Are you ok Fiora?” he asks as he casts the spell.
Turning to Erica, “Yes, like the rhyming kid said, now what?”
"Thanks Guston, can I lean on you for a moment to catch my breath? Good work everyone, I'd call that a success! I'm surprised you know so many spells Ignatius, you must be an accomplished Bard!"
"If what we came for is done here,
We shouldn't wait any further.
For they that seek the darkness face
A painful death of sheer disgrace.
Go no further, know when to stop,
For Death's scythe be hanging atop.
Leave, I say, for our work is done,
Lest you may NEVER see the sun."
He says the last line in an especially grim and serious tone, in order to dissuade Erica from this dangerous and fruitless venture.
“Look,” says Erica. “That gnome was up to something, and I want to know what it was. You can go home, if you like, but I’m going deeper inside.” With that, she exits the chamber and proceeds down the tunnel.

*She stands up straight despite the soreness*
It is a strange fate that we should suffer so much fear and doubt over so small a thing… such a little thing...
*Anduin tucks the treasure away.*
Time to leave...
Guston takes the lead again, following Erica’s instructions from behind, so he can search for traps.
Strangely enough, Guston doesn’t see any traps.
No it will not do. It will not do at all. They will not understand.
*Anduin pats his pocket protectively*
But we may need to test it... Yes...
