Are you still looking for writers for the BG1 dialogues, particularly the incomplete characters? I might be interested! I tried sending a message to you over the forums, but for whatever reason i get an error message and lose the contents of it when I send it over. :/

Hello! Yes, suggestions for new interjections and banters for NPCs are always welcome! Although I am currently immersed in "real life" matters and will not be able to add new texts promptly, I can add this when I prepare the next version of the mod.

Started playing the mod. Some notes:

    1) Are the water gardens supposed to be accessed instantly? Because there was a kid that supposedly would give you hint on how to access, provided you pay 1 gold coin, but I was able to enter them anyway without going through him. I think it's not bad if you make them available from beginning.

    2) In the Kalah's new area, only the orc and rabbit bosses spawned, so I could get only the following key:
    Key of discipline
    Key of secret

One key is missing. Where is it? Also you should make the player able to bypass the challenge by simply not playing within the rules of Kalah. So, for example, by killing the nymph asking for the keys.

    3) There is one thing that annoys me really a lot. Every time Tiax talks, he speaks with a track out of the soundset (I guess).

I would dislike it even if the whole dialogue text was voiced (I genuinely like BG approach of audio only for the first statement), but hearing a voiceover that has nothing to do with the text you're reading is really distracting and adds nothing. This is exacerbated by the fact that the voiceover starts every time you progress with dialogue. Please, disable it.

Edit: I'm not sure it's the same for Xzar, because he didn't speak a lot, but please, tell me a way to simply disable these voiceovers.

    4) In the Promenade, I found Kagain's corner ( I would add a marker) but he is nowhere to be found. I talked with his assistant, though.

    5) If I assault the city with Faldorn, she doesn't have any dialogue in the major's building.I click on her, nothing happens.

    6) Where is Sharteel? I can't find her anywhere in the copper coronet.

    7) It's not clear to me how the Xzar's personal quest begins. I went near the river in the bridge district, and he made a reference to a dead girl. So what ?

    8) Where is the Harlequin? The gladiator you're tasked to get the artifact (he is supposed to be a government district assassin for hire).

    9) HAving an issue with Galoomp. He tells me that a demon is supposed to spawn, but he is nowhere to be found. Suggestion ?

    10) Where is the auction in the water garden ?

    11) The fact that Tiax doesn't comment on the tiax in spellhold is kinda "not great".

I can answer some of these having played through it a couple runs now:

    >>
Seems to be open to access right now from the get-go whether you talk to the kid or not.

    >>
Top left corner of the map. There's an ooze you have to kill for the final key. Pathfinding can be a little tricky so just teleport your party there with the console if you're having trouble getting your party up there.

    3) There is one thing that annoys me really a lot. Every time Tiax talks, he speaks with a track out of the soundset (I guess).

    >>
Yeah, that's the case with most NPCs in this mod. A lot of their dialogue has them voicing some small part of their BG1 voice dialogue over and over. Branwen, for instance says "By Tempus' shield" constantly in her interjections.

    4) In the Promenade, I found Kagain's corner ( I would add a marker) but he is nowhere to be found. I talked with his assistant, though.

    >>
That sounds like a bug. He should be to the right of the rest of his crew there in the Promenade. He's been there for me in every playthrough.

    6) Where is Sharteel? I can't find her anywhere in the copper coronet.

    >>
Copper Coronet, inside middle door room where you talk to the guard after getting permission from Lethinan to get to the back rooms, next to the door you enter for the fighting pits.

    7) It's not clear to me how the Xzar's personal quest begins. I went near the river in the bridge district, and he made a reference to a dead girl. So what ?

    >>
Xzar's quest seems to be broken, but to initiate it talk to the nymph on the lower/dock area in Bridge District

    8) Where is the Harlequin? The gladiator you're tasked to get the artifact (he is supposed to be a government district assassin for hire).

    >>
Go inside the Deril Estate in the Government District.

I finished the Xzar three demon hearts quest for the water spirit in the Bridge District, but after I turned them in, and got the 25K XP, the spirit says I am supposed go into the crypts under Athkatla next. I got no quest update for that however, and the “Three Demon Hearts” quest vanished from my quest log. Furthermore, when I went into the spider cave down into the crypts I found nothing triggered. Am I in the wrong area or did something not spawn/trigger? If something was supposed to trigger down there and did not, is there a way to initiate it with the console?

Hello! The quest really doesn't end there. After the spirit tells you to go down to the crypt under Athkatla, you need to go to area AR0802 (Southern Dungeons), search the crypt. A lich will appear there and speak to Xzar.

However, I just took a quick look at the code and it looks like I found an error in the variable assignment that might prevent the lich from appearing :( Try setting the Global("XZARQUESTSTART","GLOBAL") variable to position 1 through the console, and then search the crypt. To do this, use the command CLUAConsole:SetGlobal("XZARQUESTSTART","GLOBAL","1")

This should solve the problem. After the battle with the lich, you will need to return to the spirit, who will tell the story of the murdered girl, and the quest will be completed.
I will fix this bug in the next version. Thank you!
Thanks! I'll give it a shot and let you know what happens. I also wanted to ask - I've been exploring the Athkatlan Water Gardens more thoroughly than I have in previous runs with this mod. I see there's a LOT of references from NPCs to inaccessible Athkatla districts like the Wave District, the Scepter District, the Government District West, and the University. Are these actual accessible areas/maps that have been added or are intended to be added in the future, or is that just flavor text (which is what I assume it is) to explain where a lot of the wealthier and "higher status" NPCs live? I have not been able to figure out how to access any of them if they are.

having the same issue with the lich not spawning. Used the command, but it reverts to the nymph asking you the three items.

Hello! Most of the questions have already been answered by fataljasmine (thanks a lot!). I will answer the remaining questions:

    9) HAving an issue with Galoomp. He tells me that a demon is supposed to spawn, but he is nowhere to be found. Suggestion ?
As far as I remember, it should be in the upper right part of the Waukeen Promenade location. If you don't find it there, let me know, I'll check the code more deeply.

    10) Where is the auction in the water garden ?
To start the auction, you must complete Lady Goldsword's quest. After that, after a little real time, she will approach you in the central square of the Water Gardens and invite you to the auction. After that, you will need to contact her butler in her house. Try doing this with different NPCs in the group (Minsc, Korgan, HaerDalis, etc.), since many scenes depend on their presence in the party.

    11) The fact that Tiax doesn't comment on the tiax in spellhold is kinda "not great".
He comments on this twice. Once in Spellhold, when talking to the "fake Tiax":
~Xzar did an excellent job in creating these doppelgangers. Even the brilliant mind of Tiax is impressed with the quality of his work.~

He also mentions this once at the very beginning of the game (when you take him into the party):
~Even though Tiax the Grand is not known to use any arcane magic, the doppelganger Xzar sold him has gained access to Spellhold!!~

Regarding the voiced lines of NPCs - yes, there are quite a lot of them, and Smiling Imp added them where the sound file is at least approximately close to the text phrase. Many players noted that the more voiced lines in the game, the more "lively" the NPC is perceived compared to the "silent" one, so we tried to add this. You are the first to express a different point of view. Thank you, I will take this into account and think about where I can reduce the number of sound lines, while keeping them where possible and most appropriate!

Regarding Xzar's quest - as I wrote a few messages above, the lich really does not appear now. I already know about this bug and will fix it in the next update.

To get into the Water Gardens, you need to talk to the man on the second floor of the building below the Slums. The idea was that it was a "privileged" area for the nobility, closed to ordinary poor people, but for a fee (a bribe) this man could take you there and open the way.
The boy is not actually required for this, although he, like a typical scammer, will try to charge you for supposedly "mediating" in this. However, he can also share rumors and sell unique stolen paintings.
This was the original idea of the author of the mod (Smiling imp), we did not change it, we only added an icon of the new district to the world map (previously it was not there and the transition there was carried out only through a dialogue with this man in the Slums).

Thanks for the help. I actually had read the doppelganger thing in my second playthrough. I had the following issues:

    1) I don't know where is lady goldsworth.
    2) I have 0 clue where is Lord Dermal ophal

    3) Xzar's quest doesn't update if you spawn the lich. The nymph gets back to asking you to retrieve three items for her if you use the command.

    4) You are able to enter water garden straight out of the promenade, without having to talk to anyone. Tested with a playthrough made with only two mods: BG1npc soa and Skip chateau irenicfus.

A few more here from my own playthroughs:

    >>Try finding her at her house with all the other nobles when they gather together at nighttime. Just hold the tab button until you find that NPC and talk to her.

    3) Xzar's quest doesn't update if you spawn the lich. The nymph gets back to asking you to retrieve three items for her if you use the command.

    >>I had the same experience. I spawned the lich, but the quest had already disappeared from my records, and once I killed him and returned to the nymph, she still asks for the 3 items.

    1) I don't know where is lady goldsworth.
During the day, Lady Goldsword is on the second floor of her mansion, the entrance to it is on the right side of the Water Gardens square. The auction will also be held there. And in the evenings, dinner parties are held in this mansion for all the nobles of the area, and she can also be on the first floor.
Also note that all the nobles have different lines for the daytime and for the evening, when they are in Lady Goldsword's mansion. Moreover, each time you talk to the nobles, their phrases will constantly change. Smiling Imp wrote a LOT of texts for all the residents of the area :)
    2) I have 0 clue where is Lord Dermal ophal
Lord and Lady Ofal are the standard NPC of the game, they are found in the Bridge area during the day and will snobbishly insult the player if spoken to. And in the evening they come to the Water Gardens area for a dinner party with Lady Goldsword, and you can find them there too.
Xzar's quest doesn't update if you spawn the lich. The nymph gets back to asking you to retrieve three items for her if you use the command.
As I said, Xzar's quest will be fixed in the next version of the mod. I've already made the necessary fixes, but I'll update it a bit later to also include the Shar-Teel romance I've been coding for the last year.
You are able to enter water garden straight out of the promenade, without having to talk to anyone.
I'll check why this is happening. The idea was for the location to open only after a dialogue with a man in the Slums.

    1) Where is the shrine in the bridge district where the mage is experimenting (Lady goldsworth quest)?

    2) You should be able to steal the necklace (you can only pay it 40k).

    3) Summoning the demon for Galoomp should provide you with an evil reward, if you free it. You should be able to talk with him before. Now summoning and killing it makes no point - especially considering that it's described as being a very powerful being and you can kill it easily.

    4) [Kalah's quest] The ooze in the top left corner is not appearing at all for me.

This is the same house where the lair of the lich Kangax is located in the original game. Namely AR0526.
    4) [Kalah's quest] The ooze in the top left corner is not appearing at all for me.
You need to go to the very top and left corner of the map, and then go down the narrow "corridor". The slime will be there. I admit that this quest from Smiling Imp is quite difficult, so it was made optional during installation)

Thank you, I will try to implement this if I can find free time.

P.S. I also recommend that you pay attention to the animal trader in the Water Gardens (area to the right of the main fountain) - he has several rumors and interesting quests created by Alisia :) During the dialogue with him, it is recommended to have Aerie and Tiax in the party.

What version of the game and version of the mod do you have? I just checked this on the latest version of the mod and the game BG2EE - and it turned out that there is no such problem, the area opens on the worldmap only after a dialogue with a man in the Slums, as intended. But there is another problem - for some reason the icon on the map does not have a text description, although it is present during installation. I will look for the reason for this. If anyone can tell me why this happened, I would be grateful!

You miss the Tooltip in .tbl file.

By the way maybe the icon could be a little lower to prevent hiding District Temple Tooltip. (Not sure why the russian ones are more superimposed to the icons but it coul be nice to have the same for others languages)

@Austin87 Off topic : (Edit, I should have posted on ArcaneCoast...)

I saw you post on G3, I think I can provide you an exemple how te restrict an item to an NPC for EE and BG2/BGT if Tobex is installed.

To my knowledge, without tobex for classic, the only way is by restricting item to kit, race, characteristics but maybe someone else will give you more hints.

EDIT : Also you have the reference here in IESDP. (With the meaning of the number 2, in the case of the exemple)

Also, another exemple with a little more explanation commented out.

About restricted item for Charnama, it's also possible :
    ACTION_IF (GAME_IS ~bgee bg2ee eet iwdee~) BEGIN

    OUTER_SET JO_JoBhRob1 = RESOLVE_STR_REF (~Only <CHARNAME> can wear this item~)
    OUTER_SET JO_JoBhActorName = RESOLVE_STR_REF (~<CHARNAME>~)
    APPEND ~ITEM_USE.2DA~ ~JoBhRob1 None %JO_JoBhRob1% 2 %JO_JoBhActorName%~ UNLESS ~JoBhRob1~
    // APPEND ~ITEM_USE.2DA~ ~ItemName   ActorScriptName      %STRREF  for Flag%      Flag (1, 2 ou 3)          %ActorName%~ UNLESS ~ItemName~

    END ELSE ACTION_IF (GAME_IS ~tob bgt~ AND MOD_IS_INSTALLED ~SETUP-TOBEX.TP2~ ~100~) BEGIN

    OUTER_SET JO_JoBhActorName = RESOLVE_STR_REF (~<CHARNAME>~
    APPEND ~ITEM_USE.2DA~ ~JoBhRob1 None -1 2 %JO_JoBhActorName%~ UNLESS ~JoBhRob1~

    END

Using script "none" will make the item unusable by other npc because they have a script name (DeathVar).

    Mod updated!!!
    New verison - 15!
    • Added Shar-Teel romance (texts by scheele). Warning: contains adult content (18+).
      Conditions for starting a romance:
gender - male, charisma above 10, strength above 10, not a gnome or halfling. The romance will begin when Shar-Teel is wounded in any battle and her health drops below 50, after which the first dialogue will follow.
      The romance includes:
      1. 19 dialogues in SoA with Shar-Teel, including receiving "sympathy points" for certain answers.
      2. 3 additional dialogues in SoA with Safana, if she is in the party - her participation is optional, but it will affect the course of the romance.
      3. New Shar-Teel’s interjections during an active romance (including her reaction to the player's actions in Phaere's house).
      4. 3 dialogues in ToB + 3 epilogues depending on the "sympathy points" you have collected.
      5. A large PID dialogue in SoA and ToB during an active romance and an additional small PID dialogue in SoA before the start of the romance.
      6. It is possible to change Shar-Teel's alignment to chaotic neutral! To do this, you will need to collect enough "sympathy points" during the romance and convince her in the key dialogue to think about the importance of a future peaceful life.
      7. For the evil PC there is an additional opportunity to interest Shar-Teel by jointly using the "black lotus" (which will result in a drop in reputation by 1 unit and a decrease in intelligence by 1).
    • Fixed code bugs in Xzar's quest, added an additional journal entry
    • Fixed display of Water Gardens icon on world map
    • Fixed compatibility issue with the "classic" version of the game that arose in one of the latest updates
    • Fixed issues with portrait sizes in the "classic" version of the game
    • Updated readme file

Hello! I don't recommend doing this, because it's almost guaranteed to result in script bugs and messed up dialog lines.

Really glad to see the Shar-Teel romance finally out! :)

A few questions if I may:

    1) Is the SmilingImp CrossBanter Mod compatible with the new version of BG1 NPCS for SoA ToB?

    2) Any chance of adding the 3 really pretty portraits of Shar-Teel that scheele posted on page 5 of this thread into optional ones into the game?

    3) Shar-Teel romance does not appear among the installation options, right? Asking just in case if I missed it or screwed my installation somehow.

Hello! Thank you for your support!

    1) Yes, these mods are compatible.
I will also note that I have created a pull request that will include the "SmilingImp CrossBanter Mod" into the general "G3 BG2 Crossmod Banter Pack" mod. When it is accepted, the "SmilingImp CrossBanter Mod" will no longer be needed. But until the pull request is accepted, you can use the current version of the "SmilingImp CrossBanter Mod".

    2) Everything is OK, the romance is included in the main component "Shar-Teel. Nightbringer of Shar". Only an optional sub-component with a new portrait of Shar-Teel has been added.

    SHARTELM
    SHARTELS

    210x330 169x266 54x84

Create 3 portraits (BMP) with the given sizes. Next, place them in the Portraits folder. Documents/Baldur's Gate II - Enhanced Edition/Portraits. If there is no such folder, create one.
    Cheers!

I noticed that 3 of Shar-Teel's portraits in the ST2nd stage folder are already in bmp format. Do they still need some adjusting to work or are those only the bot (spicychat.ai) images that need that?

Also what kind of image editor would you recommend for that, as I do not know how to configure any of that (I can change png to bmp by rewriting the end of the image but I dunno if thats enough), as I'm not expert in image edits or adjustements?

Finally, is it really just enough to drop an image into the Documents/Baldur's Gate II - Enhanced Edition/Portraits folder for the option to appear during installation?

The problem is that I did a really big mod installation already and I wonder if its possible to change Shar-Teel's portrait without reinstalling/uninstalling the whole modding set up...

    1. All you have to do is change the format of the image of the bot, but there you will also have to crop the image to make it fit the 210 x 330

    2. (MS) Paint
    Open in Paint → Ctrl + A (Ctrl A) → RMB (Right Mouse Button - click on the portrait) → Ctrl + W → Select 'Pixels' → Enter the horizontal and vertical sizes (210 x 330, 169x266, 54x84) → Press 'Ok'
    It's done.

    3. Just as in IWD, it's absolutely enough.

    4. Don't reinstall anything, you don't need to do that.

I just recently started the Shar-Teel romance after she got seriously injured in a pit fight. Since then, my reputation has increased to heroic levels and I have not seen any further talks from her. Is the Shar-Teel romance dependent on party reputation like it was in BG1?

Also, any plans to make a kit for her? She talks about being a Nightbringer of Shar but really, she is a vanilla fighter. Thanks!

Hello! Romance does not depend on the player's reputation. The rest of the dialogues appear in turn (first the usual ones, then the ones from the romance). You just need to wait until a banter appears (like in the original game, banters are launched automatically by the game engine after a random time, when the group is on vacation or in another "calm" situation. If you have other NPCs in your party, then instead of a dialogue with Shar-Teel, banters may appear between them, this is normal. You just need to wait for her turn.
If you want to speed up the process and see the banters right away, then press Ctrl + I several times (with each press, the names of different animations will appear at the bottom, you can ignore this and continue pressing Ctrl + I until the next banter starts). Some dialogues will also appear when the group is getting ready for bed.

The original author of the mod (Smiling Imp) had such plans, but he did not have enough time to implement it. And I, unfortunately, do not know how to create kits and cannot study it now due to lack of time :(
If someone else creates such a kit and tells me what needs to be added to the code to make it work, I will gladly add it.
