Thank you for your interest in my mods!
The next mod I plan to release is "Throne of the Mad God", a dungeon crawl that will set the stage for my dwarven mod "Silverrealms", which I will release after that. Silverrealms will be the most extensive of all, twice as big as "Call of the lost goddess" when it comes to areas.
Skyfire will follow. After that, it is time for "Loretakers 2".
It's kind of crazy that Skyfire is being released so late now, when I announced it first. But at the moment it's easier for me to finish the other mods first.

Acifer you are a beast. Both you and Lava are working on mods like crazy. All that we regular non coding mortals can do is watch in amazement at your work. That I only have half the programing knowledge you guys have I'd be right up there pumping quests and stories all over Faerun

Thank you for your answer. Any idea when will Throne of Mad God be released? And the rest of the mods? Is it going to be anytime this year or 2025? When would you estimate it's release date?

Amazingly, acifer appears to be on a release spree for a bunch of mods he has been cultivating for a couple of decades!

I'm actually curious about this. How do you manage to be so insanely productive? Have you really been saving up all that work for decades, or has it all been a recent snowball of development?

Loretakers especially looks so very promising! I've always loved the Grand Illithid Conspiracy theory ever since it has first been elaborated somewhere in these forums.

The origin of all my mods dates back a very long time.

I started with "Call of the Lost Goddess" in 2003. I had read the adventure "For Duty And Deity" and knew that I wanted to turn it into a mod for BG2. I had no idea about graphic design at the time, so I started learning everything myself. I had to experiment a lot until I knew how things worked and what tools to use. BG modding was also a challenge, as I knew just as little about programming. There were hardly any tutorials and you had to know how to help yourself if you ran into problems. The "Goldspires" area, for example, is from 2006.
I started "Dark Tidings" around 2005, and "Skyfire" around 2007, as I had created some areas while working on CotLG that had a strong connection to the Inner Planes, which I wanted to turn into a stand-alone mod. I began working on "Silverrealms", my biggest mod, in 2013.

Why so many different mods? When I got stuck with a mod at a certain point, I would work on something else. There were many things I couldn't solve - not making progress with the graphics or not coming up with a good story idea, for example.
Later, I would come back to that mod. So all the mods evolved more or less simultaneously and have reached a similar stage of development - they are all "almost finished".

The most recent stuff I created were the area graphics for "Bloodied Stings of Barovia" in spring last year and "Crucible" in fall / winter 2023/2024.

I would like to emphasize that a big reason for my current productivity is @LavaDelVortel , as he has been supporting me for over a year to finally finish my mods. He takes the time to check / review these mods, creates items, contributes own ideas and suggestions, or even writes missing pieces of the story, as he did with Loretakers. I suppose you could consider him a producer who keeps track of how everything fits together after such a long development process.
Alongside everyone else who has done their part to ensure that the mods are finally completed, of course! They all deserve a huge thank you for that!

I honestly don't know. For two days now I've been working on Silverrealms again and preparing the ingame movies for BG2EE, because I'm stuck again in "Throne of the Mad God". In any case, I will release TotMG this year, hopefully Silverrealms as well and Skyfire in 2025.

Yes! The mod had been waiting for years until I was able to answer the big "why do they do this?". But now, everything fits so well with the Bhaalspawn saga and is canon!
Here, too, it was Lava who pushed forward and made the mod ready for release. I asked him in March if he wanted to take a look at the mod, and he wrote an incredible amount of content for it.
I'm really looking forward to releasing the next parts!

Oh, that's so nice you give me such credit and think of me so fondly, thank you!

I believe Acifer is offering stuff I myself would never be able to offer and he's doing some amazing work. And as for The Bloodied Stings of Barovia -- I consider it my best mod ever and that wouldn't happen without Acifer, his support, patience, time and skills, and I am very grateful that he decided to spend so much time on helping me with that mod. Thanks again, Acifer. It probably wouldn't happen without you.

    Cheers!

Without Acifer, Crucible wouldn't exist. Huge thanks!

Goes to show how amazing mods we can get, when the community works together (no disrespect meant).

I hope for even more amazing collabs, and hope us users can provide solid feedback and support you with some cheering.

At this point, Hasbro should hire Acifer and give him a team for BG4

Hello there, i just wanted to say that i enjoyed the mods that you and @LavaDelVortel made for BG1, and I'm really excited about the release of this mod, Silverrealms and Throne of the Mad God. Are there any news about the progress of those incoming mods? Sorry if i sound impatient, it's just that this forum was inactive for 5 months and i just couldn't help myself. ;)

@hawkseeker20_04 : No, that's not impatient at all!
I actually wanted to release Throne of the Mad God earlier, but I wasn't quite happy with the result yet. So I'm still working on this mod - refinements and better combat scripts, for example. Some encounters are quite... tricky to code (you'll notice that when you get to the boss fight).
As long as Throne of the Mad God is not released, I will not finish the other two mods. I expect Silverrealms and Skyfire to be very time consuming in terms of beta testing and debugging. That's why I want to release the Throne first, so that I have enough time for the rest of my work.

I'm glad you enjoyed the mod for BG1 so far - did you play Dark Tidings and Call of the Lost Goddes for BG2 as well?

Actually no, i played BG2 two years ago without mods (except those that restored lost content and some tweaks).

I'm actually doing a second playthrough with all the quest mods that you did and others like those in BG1, but first i have to complete it so i can transfer my character (I prefer not doing it with EET). That's why i'm so excited for these three bangers to get released, so i can finally start BG2 with the whole package.

    Any updates on the mods?
  • kirkkirk Member Posts: 3
i cannot wait for this mod, based on Dark Tidings and espically Call of the Lost Goddess, which was incredible! this will expand the world perfectly. I remeber being excited for bg3, then not really liking it, (didn't like the combat etc, no hate, just not for me). These mods have more than made up for the dissapoinment of bg3 for me, giving me the chance to expand the the world so much more through my favorite game bg2!

I'm glad you've enjoyed the mods so far - and there are more to come. Some mods may take some time, but I'm committed to expanding the game's setting.

Man, You are doing something that not even the biggest of mods (I'm looking at you Shadows over Soubar and Dark Horizons [No offense to the creators]) could accomplish, expanding the setting you are in without showering you with tons of XP, reusing locations or giving you overpowered BS. We are all anticipating Silverrealms, Skyfire and Loretakers II.

And by the way, what are your plans with the Chult and Moonshae Isles mods, i knew about the latter because i saw art of it in your Deviantart account. I'm especially interested in the Chult one (i loved Tomb of Annihilation, even though it's from 5e but still). We are all gladly awaiting for more peak content.

A Great Shadow's Mansion mod for Chult, with maybe links to both Viconia and Hexxat would be a great idea. But there is a lot of fun to be had in Chult; you have the Peaks of Flame which has so much interest from Esmerandana and the Dur Authalar, the portal to Dendar's cave, the local underdark being very unique with the Firenewts. Or you could go with the Cultengar with the local Naga and Pterafolk. Plus DINOSAURS!

Moonshae Isles already have a clear link to the story with Kazgaroth though the Moonshae novels and Bhaal's involvement there happened more than a decade ago from when we are in BG2. Synnoria would be interesting though. Newer lore ties Synnoria with the LeShay as the Fifth Creator Race and then with Imaskar which gives you so much range plus the ability to have a link with the Plane of Faerie, perhaps moving from the Wealdath through a Faerie Crossroad to Synnoria. That said, Synnoria is a complete mess in 1369-1370 when BG2 is happening since it is just a few years after Ityak-Ortheel attacked.
Though looking at the Moonshae art, that seems more like Northlander lands. Norheim maybe?

Oh, I didn't realize that I had already revealed something about a Chult mod. Apart from a few jungle areas, there's nothing really to report yet. But dinosaurs would be cool.

Moonshae might be my most ambitious project. At the moment, however, only some wilderness areas, the village and forest of Dynnegal, one Moonwell and a few dungeons are finished. It will take many years before I have finished this.
The player travels with the Northmen to the island of Moray by boat. The mod includes a separate worldmap for this island, and - similar to BG1 - you travel around a lot. I've actually been working on a Kazgaroth animation (in undead form) for a while now. I can't yet say whether it will work.
And ultimately you'll end up destroying a new Bhaalspawn there. The Feywild isn't far away either...
