Try deleting the most recent mpsave/crash_* folder. Sometimes when the game creates a crash save it ends up corrupted, which then causes the engine to crash when attempting to read it.

It works, but there's a common misunderstanding of what it means. Elves don't get finessable large swords for free. The finesse perk does allow them to use it when equipping large swords, though.
