I just wanted to drop in and say thank you for making me enjoy IWD2 again.

This is absolutely epic. I appreciate the hard work and love the tweaks.

I'm most of the way through play playthrough on the latest version, and so far it's been a pretty solid experience. Just a couple issues, maybe.
    • I got three sets of full plate +5 fairly early on. I don't remember where they were exactly, but they were pretty overpowered for the time I got them, and they carried me through the early-mid game.
    • I was also able to get some +5 returning ammo very early as well. I'd found a couple of 'infinite arrow' which were just normal arrows, and then immediately replaced them with a +5 variant. Again, I don't remember exactly where this was, but it was fairly early in the game.
    • Glyph of warding crashed the game whenever I used it.
    • Some feats are hidden on the feat selection screen until their prerequisites are met, others are not. Mobility is an example of one that's hidden, but I could see that spring attack needed it as a prerequisite. When I learned dodge, mobility showed up.

Additionally, there's some kind of bug with wizard spell learning. Maybe two bugs. The first is that there are more spells available than can be known per spell level. This itself isn't much of an issue, however. The issue is that if you have learning spells on level up enabled, when leveling up, with all available spells known, the level up screen will not let you past spell selection. You also can't back out of this screen, causing a soft lock. I'm going to uninstall that option of the mod to continue with my playthrough, but it would also be nice if wizard spell learning on level up and bard/sorcerer spell replacement on level up were separate options on the installer as well.

Concerning the +5 armor and arrows, I expect you have been rather lucky. At least I have been though the game without finding it. So maybe it is not a bug over overpowered drops. Simply luck.

There shouldn't be more spells known than are avaliable per level, and it's precisely because of the issue you ran into. Max spells known is hardcoded so they purposefully put in fewer.

Can you list your spells known where you are running into that problem?

Where did you get the early +5 armor?Given how the loot tiers work that sounds like it shouldn't happen either.

    Which components did you install?

I think I got them in the cave with the troll who stole the Moonblade from the priestess. When I went back through there on HOF early this morning I got two half-plate of expertise +4s, which I think I got because I'm in HOF this time in the same spot.
I think the first +5 everlast arrow I got was in the goblin fortress, but I'm not sure on that one. For sure by the time I got to the monastery I had a crossbow bolt and a bullet as well.

As for what my install looks like, I can post a log. I have the ease of use mod installed, but only installed infinite stacking, some hof items in normal mode, and the xp tweak that makes everything give some experience.

It retrospect, the hof items mod might've done that to me with the ammo. But where I got some other armors in the same spot in hof I'd suspect that it wasn't hof items that gave me those plate mails.

My wizard has max level 1 spells, I exported them from near infinity so you can see them.

    (Shocking Grasp)
    (Deafness)
    (Mage Armor)
    (Magic Missile)
    (Chromatic Orb)
    (Larloch's Minor Drain)
    (Deathwatch)
    (Perception Filter)
    (Ice Dagger)
    (Ray of Enfeeblement)
    (Burning Hands)
    (Protection from Evil)
    (Grease)
    (Color Spray)
    (Charm Person)
    (Dimension Door)
    (Protection from Petrification)
    (Shield)
    (Spook)
    (Sleep)
    (Reflect Attack)
    (Simple Summoning)
    (Jump)

Although, as it turns out, when I was trying to pinpoint this problem for you, I realized the limit is 24 spells, and he only has 23 level one spells. I hadn't noticed the message that says you could only know 24 spells per level before this moment. I was able to get through the level up screen this time, but since I bought basically every spell scroll I found at one point, I'm sure there'll be a point where he's got no available spell slots for learning, and gets a level where the same thing happens again. There are three spells he doesn't know at level 1, so I can take one of them on level up. Summon Monster I, Minor Image, and Chill Touch. I'm not sure if there's a provision to stop that screen from coming up at all when the max number of spells is already known or not, though.

I've also had a weird problem from about the midway mark in the playthrough where my Darkmoon Monk/Sorc is unable to be affected by her own buff spells. Mage Armor, Shield, Mirror Image, Stoneskin, Blur, etc all cast successfully, and very briefly show the buff icon on her portrait, but then just disappear. I also noticed that sometimes after quicksaving and then quickloading after buffing, the buffs might randomly come back, but I haven't been able to reproduce that consistently. The monk is wearing a robe of the archmagi, so she has some spell resistance, but it's only low, and it's not giving a message that says the spell failed or anything.

Oh, yeah, I bet the EoU component is causing the item issue.

I don't think you can stop tht screen. You might need to remove some spells on the character using Near Infinity
Specifically this version since it includes iwd2ee stuff https://github.com/OlvynChuru/NearInfinity/archive/devel.zip

    Mod is looking great!

Any suggestions where to find better party AI scripts?

This tweak pack says it's compatible with iwd2ee. I haven't tried it, but I'd be interested in knowing if it works.

On HoF, the random loot is more powerful. You wouldn't get full plate +5 nearly that early on in a non-HoF playthrough.

I just tested Glyph of Warding and it didn't crash the game.

None of the feats are hidden; they are just darker and unselectable when you can't take the feat. I think the thing confusing you is that some of the feats introduced in IWD2EE are not sorted alphabetically (there are technical reasons for this; changing the order of the feats would cause all sorts of bugs).

Did a very short test run and the scripts did activate correctly and characters started kill goblins.

Looked very promising for an autoattack party. I was also looking for a good damage dealing -caster script but those are hard to find. Maybe I'll have another melee/archer party again.

I'm looking for some help installing this on a Windows 10 machine. I have a clean install of Icewind Dale 2 through GOG, but when I unzip it to the Icewind Dale 2 folder (C:GOG Games/Icewind Dale 2), neither IWD2EE.exe nor Setup-iwd2ee.exe show up in the folder.gxftcmvpuigx.png
  • Acrux2Acrux2 Member Posts: 77
I think you extracted one level too low. Those files should be in the iwd2ee-v3.3.3 folder. If they are, take them out and put them into the Icewind Dale 2 folder in your picture.
  • Aeryc131Aeryc131 Member Posts: 2
They are not in the iwd2ee-v3.3.3 folder. I also tried unzipping it one layer up (to the GOG Games level) and they were still not in the iwd2ee-v3.3.3 folder.
  • Acrux2Acrux2 Member Posts: 77
What is in the folder? Anything? Try unzipping into your downloads folder (or wherever it downloads to) and just copying the files from there. It shouldn't be a Windows 10 issue, but it could possibly be an issue with anti-virus software blocking it depending on how sensitive it is. If so, you'd need to set an exception.

    Hello,
I have installed this mod, after spending a few years playing around with the BG/BG2 enhanced editions (including the SCS mod) and relished coming back to this game. There are a few points to make.

It starts with what I think is a bug...
My "party of 4" had Improved Invisibility cast on them for the Horde Fortress (AR3100). When the spell ran out (they became visible again), using the Hide skill at any point was ignored and all enemies could "see" any "hidden" member of my party. This included a Deep Gnome (with their generic Non Detection). The enemies may be on higher alert - but surely they don't all gain an innate "See Invisibility"?

As for the rest, there are a few improvements I would like to see in the next release - if technically possible. Most revolve around QoL experiences when playing other enhanced edition games - specifically containers (potion, gem, scroll, ammo, holding):
    1. When selecting a item that is stacked, only one is selected. EE games default it to "all"
    2. When moving stuff to/from containers, there is a button to "move all" (based also upon the types of items that can be moved, i.e. move all gems into the gem bag)
    3. My Bag of Holding hit its limit! That has never happened in other EE games because all items (weapons, armour) can stack in the container (probably a very difficult feature to implement!)
    4. Seeing the number of charges remaining on wands, etc

As to the previously discussed issue of silver weapons. I agree on them being included - despite the fact that my battle with Beodaewn was overly long (none of my characters had an AB of +1 zillion) - and made the silver weapons kind of pointless as I had to magic him to death instead. At that point, I had found only 3 silver weapons. If I were to go crazy and restart with a 6-person melee party, 3 would be standing around twiddling their thumbs. An improvement would be to add (not many) more silver weapons - perhaps even silver tipped missiles?

One bugbear is the new spells. I'm not really interested in any of the non-3rd edition spells (which seems to be quite a lot of them, but I don't have all the 3.5e rule books, so I cannot say whether I'm talking out my rear)... but where are the glaring omissions, i.e. Bears Endurance, Foxes Cunning and Owls Wisdom?

Other than that - great job!

I think the modders have said a few of those things are difficult to implement with the limitations they have on the engine. But for item #3 the Tweaks Anthology mod does allow a bottomless bag of holding. https://gibberlings3.github.io/Documentation/readmes/readme-cdtweaks.html

I may be a bit late but after installing the EE through the setup.exe, the game opens and closes instantly after selecting the resolution. Can somebody please tell the solution for it?

Try this solution from the discord server

Q: IWD2:EE freezes / crashes after the resolution select popup. My game worked prior to v3.3.2!
A: Please update your Microsoft Visual C++ Redistributable (https://aka.ms/vs/17/release/vc_redist.x86.exe) and try again.

Thought so - that's why I added the "if possible" caveat ;)

    I've noticed another bug...
I tried to buy a spell scroll (Lower Resistance) from Zack (Glacier Crevice), but the one that appeared in my inventory was the next scroll in the sellers list. Worked around it by selecting the previous scroll to the one I wanted - and sold back the one I didn't want. Don't know if I made or lost money on that weird deal.

Oh, that's too bad. I'd encourage you to ask on the mod's discord server. It's more active than here and often Bubb or OlvynChuru can provide assistance.
