    Is it possible there was a Windows update in between?

    Sometimes people have success after following these instructions on the Discord server.

    Q: IWD2:EE freezes / crashes after the resolution select popup. My game worked prior to v3.3.2!
    A: Please update your Microsoft Visual C++ Redistributable (https://aka.ms/vs/17/release/vc_redist.x86.exe) and try again.

    Try deleting the most recent mpsave/crash_* folder. Sometimes when the game creates a crash save it ends up corrupted, which then causes the engine to crash when attempting to read it.
