So I have started a game and quite enjoy the NPCs 🙂
I have a few more questions though:
1. Whom will the NPCs befriend and romance with? Is it always the character in the first slot? Or is it the one created as the first one at the start of the game? What if I have two custom characters?
2. Is there a way to change the soundset of NPCs? Karihi's voices are very... meh.

It's always Player1, so the first/main character you created. If you installed the Crossmod Banter Pack, companions will also talk to other companions, but use specific dialogue we prepared for them. It's all like in BG2.
2. Is there a way to change the soundset of NPCs? Karihi's voices are very... meh.
Once installed and set, it's not exactly an option. In theory, you can use an editor like Near Infinity and try to edit the character, but with a few clicks you may ruin your savegame, so... I don't advise on doing that. Perhaps her voice will grow on you, at some point.
Hmm... Maybe I will try to improve her sound. I'm not bad with Audacity (but no expert either).
Would be great to make her voice "fiery"
Wish me luck...
So it took only 1 or 2 hours edit all her sound files.
I increased the volume a bit and added a little burning sounds when she's speaking. It's still not studio quality but I think it feels less out of the line. I hope you guys will like it.
🙂
The Artisan (formerly known as AionZ) just released three new characters: Athanasios, Guldruk, and Nirik. As the author describes them, they are somewhat lighter in content but nevertheless, cool characters that you should definitely try out! There are more details and links in the first post.
hello i can't download the three new characters,my navigator say there 's a virus ,for Minerva and karihi that's work fine.My navigator is Microsoft edge...problem solve...
Sorry, I think that is the only place where The Artisan shares his mods, but I really doubt there is any virus in there. Many mods give false positives and these 3 have just been released so perhaps your internet explorer finds it suspicious.

Thanks for the heads up!
It looks like Guldruk at least has some crossmod banters as well (in the most recent version of the IWD Crossmod banter pack).
I hope The Artisan eventually releases the Warlock companion as well...
Hi Hi! ^^ ...I'm planning to play the full game IWDEE and i have the game via Steam. And i've now created a list of how i should install all the mods in the correct order. Does this seem like a reasonable and correct installation order? It would be great if anyone knew!

List edit: 2025-07-09
I'm very sorry to ask here... but most mods come from here, so i thought if anyone knows if this should work perfectly, it's one of you! Anyone knows or could guess? That would be super cool! ...Ooh! And everything should also work in HoF mode...
...If there would also be more adventures/quests and even more NPCs that can be recommended, just give your thoughts! ^^
I am not an expert when it comes to order, but I think it should be:
1. Quests 2. NPCs (BTW, it look like you are skipping those, while also asking for more NPCs -- remember that there is a bunch of those available, all created by The Artisan and myself are listed in the first post) 3. Items, spells, encounters - like forge-it, find-it etc 4. Tweaks
You don't need the Fixpack, most fixes were applied when EE was released, and EE Fixpack is still in an alpha/beta phase, so the question is if you want to add it in if you are not experienced with mods, I haven't mixed the EE Fixpack with those just yet.
Afaaq does work with IWD and adds a couple battles. It also adds a 7th companion. You might want to add Golem Construction by the same mod author. Skin eater is one of my favorite quest mods. So I for sure recommend that.
- Yes Lava... i apparently misunderstood the "Crossmod Banter Pack" mod and thought that the NPC characters were also included in the mod, but i just have to install them one by one...
And i have now updated the list above and hope it looks a little more correct???
- Thx Trouveur! I have removed DCL Merger...
- And thx Brokenkatana! The Golem Construction looks great, so have added it to the list...
...I don't usually mod games that often, but i tend to be quite frugal and stick to one or two at most, but now i felt like a little more adventure and quests... but if anyone comes up with any more thoughts i can add, just let me know...

Yep, you pick NPCs you would like to see, install them, and then, you add IWD Crossmod Banter Pack (pick the one for IWD rather that for BG2 the mod's name makes it easy to make download the wrong package)
Remember that IWD NPC Project ("Holvir, Korin, Nella, Severn, Teri Pack") was created before EE was a thing, so some of their content is handled a bit differently. Don't get me wrong, Kulyok created some great characters, just don't be surprised if they have a slightly different feel when it comes to blending in with other NPC mods you've got there Furthermore, when they were made public, there were no other NPC mods, so those characters were designed with each other in mind, rather than as few NPCs among other mod companions. Yes, we added some crossmod talks, but they may still feel a bit differently.
And i have now updated the list above and hope it looks a little more correct???
It looks right. I mean, IWD Unfinished Business is more like a mixture of story tweaks and additions, but I think it may stay where you in that slot you put it in

If you want a less linear version of IWDEE, then it's okay to install more than few quests and NPCs I believe that with all these mods, IWD becomes quite a rich game, with friendship, romances, quests, encounters, new items, spells... If you like that sort of things, I am sure you're gonna enjoy your run. Remember, though, that having all these new quests means more XP so you may want to improve your difficulty at some point If you enjoy tougher fights and challenges, that is.

Yes! I'm looking for a richer and more narrative gameplay and not as linear as it is. Just like you say with this set up it will definitely be more diverse and varied throughout the game. which in my opinion makes the game more interesting and fun... and i will most likely also play the game in HoF, so the game will be very challenging... ^^
Thx for all the help and suggestions... i'll try installing it tomorrow... ^^D
Just to let you know: I've just updated Bethany and Arszyk so they worked properly on HoF (after your post I realized there I forgot to make them ignore the bonus all creatures get when HoF is active -- all companion should use that option)

I just wanted to add that i have now installed everything and tested it out a bit, and everything seems to be working quite well so far in the first village... The only thing that doesn't seem to be working is Athanasios' voice/sound. It seems to refuse to work. I have contacted Artisan via his website and am waiting for a response from him. So we'll see what happens there...
I updated the list above... Tipps, apparently also needed a mod before, but otherwise it seems to be working quite well so far...
Thanks for all the help ^^

To install it just overwrite the original sounds with the ones in the archive and run the Karihi's setup.
Cheers!
