    Regarding HoW content for NPC:
    1) Is there any?
    2) If yes, do I have to do HoW while playing the main campaign (by visiting Hjollder in Kuldahar) or can I import a save without losing friendship/romance progress etc.?
  • LavaDelVortelLavaDelVortel Member Posts: 2,874
Yes, there is content for HoW for each of the released characters. To experience it without any problems it's best to play HoW areas by talking to Hjollder in Kuldahar and enjoying the HoW campaign when taking a break from OC.

I already had some of the new locations from the new quests (skineater, below & below, lady dreamless) on the world map, and then suddenly they disappeared while I was travelling to and fro between Kuldahar and the Vale. I have a good number of other mods installed, including ui mods and I modified some of my mods using the current save, so I reckon that weidu wiped the custom locations from my map. Is there an obvious way to fix this? Could I travel to the locations using location codes? If yes, what are they? Or maybe the item/npc codes for the three quests could bring the locations on the map back? Any help would be appreciated:).

Sadly, I have no idea why would such a problem appear, perhaps it is some GUI problem... or one with a savegame? Anyway, you may use code to teleport to those areas.

Below & Below Inn main area - C:MoveToArea("L#BB10")
Tales of Our Lady Dreamless main area - C:MoveToArea("L#UF10")
Terror of the Skineater main area - C:MoveToArea("l#ts10")
Night of the Blinking Dead main area - C:MoveToArea("l#zb10")

Remember that Tales, Terror and Night are first mentioned outside the areas and if you haven't yet started some of those, you should "jump" when the plot already starts... but if you started them already and you've been to those main areas, it shouldn't be a problem.

In case you didn't know how to use console codes:
    https://gibberlings3.github.io/iesdp/appendices/clua/bgee.htm
(it's the same for all patched EE games)

Perfect, thanks. Looking forward to trying out the new quests.

As I'm starting a new game soon because of the 2.6 patch: I found that although the new items added throughout the game (both in the item and quest mods) are really great and make (re)discovering the dungeons much more exciting, they do feel a bit overpowered from time to time, even if you don't min-max your group. I usually play on core; what difficulty would you recommended if you have most of the mods installed?
  • TheArtisan TheArtisan Member Posts: 3,277
I believe that IWD past the early game is just extremely easy in general... (SCS-equivalent for IWDEE when). That said, the difficulty slider in IWD actually does affect spawn count so I think Insane with damage amplification disabled is the best balance of challenge and fun.
  • ThoriumThorium Member Posts: 36
If you already know the game well and are looking for more challenge, I would even recommend trying Insane with double damage on and bonus experience disabled (if you leave the double experience on, it can make the game actually easier at some parts since you get for example earlier spell access). Insane difficulty makes many encounters more challenging, but still doable. At least for me that made the game more exciting on reruns when I had mods installed. :)

Ok I'll give Insane a try then, makes sense. Let's see how that will go;).

I‘m still enjoying my 2021 playthrough for BG and suddenly I found this thread...

This is really a big surprise as I always wanted to play IWD like BG2. I played IWD only once many years ago with Kuylok's NPC MOD, after that I don't have any reason to replay, as I think the gameplay is not as fun as BG series, and there are no other talking companions I can travel together.

And now we have 10 more NPCs with stories and banters...So amazing, thank you for the hard works, definitely will try these mods this year~

Thanks to @super_norq all my quest mods are now available in Polish! Parts of the Night of the Blinking Dead translations are based on @memory's translation of the Ooze's Lounge. (some of the items appear in both mods) Thanks, guys!

And now, again thanks to @super_norq, FindIt and ForgeIt are also available in Polish! Enjoy!

That's mean we have a total of 20 iwd npcs in the future, really looking forward to it :)

I'm using 2 from Kulyok, 2 from Lava and 1 from Aionz in my current game, really enjoyable as they are so high quality, and the banters with each other are really great.

The first banter I had is Karihi and Dusky mocking each other in a very funny and smart way. Great writing.

The second one is between Karihi and Holvir. Initially I was a bit hestitate to bring Kulyok's npc this time because I played with them 7 years ago, and now I'm glad I take them again, seeing Kulyok's npcs having funny interactions with new npcs is more enjoyable than I thought

Different npcs from different authors also offer some varieties in the way how npc reacts to quest, so less predictable who and when and have what to say. Very happy with my current party setup.

Thanks again to all the authors. You have brought new life to a game that I won't really play without the npcs mod. IWD has amazing area arts and its great to have motivation to replay it.

Ah this is very exciting! I've been quietly hoping for news on your NPCs AionZ - I've enjoyed Kahiri & Minerva so much. Definitely intrigued by Guldruk

I definitely like the individual NPCs here more than Kulyok's, but as far as I remember the party dynamics in her mod were more developed (understandably, since it was a set group).
I recently replayed IWD with kulyok's mods and this really struck me. Maybe it's because the NPC pack was designed solely with those 5, but the party dynamic is amazing. It really feels like there's a shared story between these characters that grows as the game progresses.

I'm excited to replay IWD again with these new quests and NPCs. I'm also intrigued at how the NPCs fit alongside Kulyok's because of the mentioned established party dynamic.

Any update on the fey’ri warlock @AionZ? And do all of these mods still work with the latest patch @LavaDelVorte? Looking forward to playing these mods with kulyok’s in their “most complete” form. Mixing and matching the NPCs should be interesting. Thanks

AionZ is having a break to gather some energy and get better as he hasn't felt well for the last few months :)
Everything works well with all 2.0+ versions of the game, including 2.6.

@Illustair Currently I'm doing a IWDEE patch 2.6.6 run will all the NPC mods from Lava and AionZ and I can confirm that (except some minor UTF-8/ANSI conversion issues Lava is aware) everything runs smoothly. With all those NPCs and the ones from Kulyok's IWD NPC mod you have in fact enough NPCs to assemble 3 completely different parties :)

    Best wishes to @AionZ.

@Cahir , is this mentioned somewhere a player can see it or what would be minor conversion issues to you, because all I know is the EE engine crashing on non-utf8 symbols. Not trying to push any update, just a bit paranoid whether it's possible to unknowingly screw up an install currently.

And congrats to the new release! Your output for IWD is amazing. I nearly have no excuse not to play it anytime soon any more (which in the past was "no NPCs!").

Nah, there were no crashes, it's just some characters looks weird (see picture in spoiler). Lava will be able to better explain technicalities behind this issue.

Yep, I missed a couple of those, but they do not break the game. It should be fixed when I'll be updating these mods :) So don't worry, it just couple of them and they are not going to cause crashes of freezes. And they should be gone sooner than later.
    Cheers!

    Some noob question:

Are all these mods compatybile with each other?

And are there any "Must have" (tweaks and such) mods that i would want?
  • LavaDelVortelLavaDelVortel Member Posts: 2,874
All mods mentioned in the first post work together. Tipps also requires Geomantic Sorcerer (available here)

You do not exactly need anything else, but you should check IWD EE Mods section here and at G3, perhaps you'll find something that will catch your attention.

I know @Cahir was playing a bunch of IWD EE mods lately, maybe he has some thoughts to share.

@Wened I can confirm that all Lava's NPCs, as well as those from @AionZ work together perfectly. With an additional Crossmod Banter Pack, they can also banter each other. In fact, installing also Kulyok's IWD NPC Pack you have basically enough NPCs to assemble 3 completely different parties.

    Currently my party consists with:
Caliban: human electric dragon disciple (a dragon disciple variant from Tome and Blood mod).
Dandjelion: halfling blackguard (revised blackguard variant from The Artisan's Kitpack)
Orra: human fighter/mage/cleric (a custom cleric kit created specifically for Orra)
Minerva: gnome fighter/artificer (a custom kit created specifically for her)
    Karihi: human pyromancer

I love this setup, these are very interesting NPCs, each with his own agenda, history and lots of banters. Mechanically are very solid and my party does not look to have weak points.

I'll write more detailed reviews when I finish my run.

There are also a lot of tweaks that are compatible with IWDEE (although not as many as for BGEE/BG2EE).

Here is my WeiDU log, in case you're interested. Probably I installed too many kit mods, but I wanted to have more choices in case I would use this insall for another run later.

Thank You. Thats quite overwhelming but i will try to follow that list.

    Does install order matter?
  • LavaDelVortelLavaDelVortel Member Posts: 2,874
Hey! :) If you already know the list is too big for you, then limit it :) Sometimes order do matter or can help with making the installation work better. What is sure, IWD Crossmod Banter Pack must always go after all NPCs. Oh, a keep in mind Cahir's list was made before Hommet was released, so it's not included in his installation.

If you want, you can still just say what you're expecting from the new game and people are going to help you and say which mods you should install then, and which mods should be skipped :)
