When skipping the cutscene in the Fortress, the characters are transported to the place where Sherinkal and Gutma are talking

Playing as Assassin is super fun now. Please don't nerf the Use Magic Devices.

Bug (3.4.0): - In the Fields of Slaughter, if you use Wings of Flight, the cutscene with the Lich will not activate. The fight will begin immediately, and the elf with the bottle of holy water will not die before the fight.

Just installed IWD2 and the EE expansion mod.
I made a Battleguard of Tempus cleric.
    My domain spell is Bless.
Even after resting, when I go to cast it it is grayed out with the mouse-over message:
    "Bless Beyond Cleric Casting Ability"
I've played the original IWD2 many times with the same type of character and I've never had this problem.

    Thanks.

Hi, is there any news about a possible Linux release? Or is it already possible to play the game through Wine/Lutris/other?
  • Acrux2Acrux2 Member Posts: 98
There's some people using Lutris and/or Wine now, and say it works pretty well. If you need assistance, I'd recommend joining the Discord server since it's pretty active for help on things like this.

It does work on WINE. Perfectly I may say. Only odd thing is that a few releases ago rendering got really laggy. Could be WINE itself to be honest, but I have the game in a static bottle. Have to up the frame updates to 58 for it to be "smooth".

How do you do that? I just updated the Mod on Steam Deck and now the animations are pretty laggy and wondering if that's what you experienced?

I use the GOG version. The game has a configuration interface that lets you change some stuff (Config.exe and it should be inside the game's install folder). Among them the "AI" updates of the game (which is really just the fps it runs on). Default is 30 and I used to set it at 40 for a smooth game. But now anything between 30 and 57 has this supper laggy feeling. 60 is too fast and makes everything run twice the speed.

Ah I should be able to do that I've got the GOG version too and running it through heroic. Thank you!

Edit* yea that helps. Set it to 58 and its a lot smoother, swear it was smooth like this on my previous install but I never tweak these settings. Still a bit choppy on Steam Deck at points maybe when a good bunch of characters and effects are on screen but absolutely playable.

Can someone that has played the entire game (once normally and then a second time on HoF with the same party) help me with a choice during install??

For me the worst part about this game used to be level squatting. This is why I did not play it in the past. The idea that I need to do this to reach max lvl was repulsive. But this has been fixed in EE looks like. However there are 2 experience options with 2 suboptions each during the install. I don't know what combination to pick. I want to be max level around 75% into HoF with full party of 6, no level squatting.

I'm hoping someone is on this thread that can help. There is a bug that I cannot seem to get past: I cannot leave the Magma Chamber no matter what I do. I understand EE eliminated the loops so the boat guy takes me right to the fight. I kill Izbelah and get the queue to get the hell out of there and go to the Fields of Slaughter. The boat guy asks me if I want to go to the Fields of Slaughter but takes me back to the entrance where I cannot get over the ledge and exit. Party wipes due to the earthquakes/whatever. I actually started a completely fresh game (as opposed to a previous save) and I'm back at the same problem. help!

After killing Isabella, you don't need to go to the boatman. You have to keep moving forward.
But if this is truly a bug (which I haven't encountered), then you can move the party using a console command.

Don't know if anyone is still playing this, but I have a few issues to report.

Casting sounds are really low volume. Even with maxing out the volume sliders, casting sound effects are oddly low. Not only that, but if you have the caster at the edge of the map the volume lowers even more. Even weirder is that when playing at my monitor's highest resolution (2560x1440) casters at the edge of the map become totally silent. This only happens with casting sounds as all other sounds are fine.

Another issue is that the Action Indicators are causing slowdowns in the action map. Having them on makes the game lag. Now this can be because I'm playing the game in WINE, and EEex is know to cause slowdowns., but these slowdowns where not apparent in previous IWD2EE releases (3.4.0 was the previous one I tried).

There seems to be plenty of activity on their Discord server.

Also, the sound-at-the-edge-of-the-map has been discussed in this very thread.

By the way, I just read through this entire thread, made some notes on what things I will like to have done with my installation, etc.

    Awesome job.

Especially how many things are configurable, so even purists can be happy.

I do have a few questions, but I am going to be a good boy, and I am going to go ask them in the Discord server. :p

AI is being used to code some of this. I haven't loaded EE since I learned this and I think it's time to uninstall.

The current release doesn't use any GAI (3.4.2). One of the people on the team is using it for the next version (not yet released) and previous versions are always available on the GitHub page.

Fair if you don't want to use it. There's a lot of changes coming up that look like wouldn't have been possible without using Claude. (Not trying to start a debate. Just letting people be informed. )

Any hint of what those changes may be?

Most of that is mentioned on the Discord by the one implementing them.

Even if it's not in use for the current version, the use for future versions has fully soured the entire project for me. The association is fairly permanent in my head.

I've been reminded that most of the new companion portraits are AI generated as well (even before official release). So, if it's an issue now it would have been an issue then as well.

If it is the case of reverse-engineering, then that is somewhat of an exception for me - in certain cases, reverse-engineering can take years (of pure time), and Claude is actually capable of doing it.

Being able to decompile an executable into readable code, and doing any changes I want to it is just too much of a boon that wouldn't be possible without years of work (most of the time, but not always). I haven't checked the Discord, so I do not know what it has been used for, yet.

(I am not affiliated with the project... except perhaps for the new icons I made for it, and those were made without the use AI, via the good old (version of) GIMP :p )
