@Mathsorcerer Basically focusing on positions and not the issues. Your darn right , and it is often one of the hardest things to deal with between conflicting parties when seeking a solution to an issue.
Sometimes I think some politicians have been sitting in their respective chairs for so long they have an elephant or a donkey imprinted on their butts and if it ain't party line, forget listening or engaging in meaningful open & productive dialogue with anybody different.

Just bugs me an independent party or individual has a hard time of breaking through that 'Red Rover, Red Rover, send so and so right over' line of clasped party hands that each of the big sides puts up. Occasionally we get someone open to non-party ideals but it's hard to fight against that group mentality in DC while trying to keep their jobs.

Some final economic numbers from 2016: Median hosehold income rose 3.2% to $59,000. Poverty rate fell nearly a full percentage point to 12.7%. Proving once again that Obama handed Trump an incredibly stable economy after he himself was handed a historically bad dumpster fire 8 years earlier.

I find it ironic that Trump has Sarah Sanders trashing Comey claiming he should be prosecuted for doing his job. This law enforcement guy has apparently taken things too far.

This comes after Trump pardoned serial law ignorer and a guy that actually got people killed and straight up ignored court orders in Joe Arpaio.

Lyin Ted Cruz was caught liking incest porn videos on 9/11. He blamed a hacker er staffer. They always claim they were hacked.

Let us presume, for the sake of discussion, that Mr. Cruz did indeed watch those clips. The first and most important question to ask would be, "so what?". Is watching porn illegal? I didn't think so. Is it worse than receiving fellatio in the Oval Office? Clearly it isn't. Is it worse than lining your pockets while being *in* the Oval Office? Of course it isn't. So, if watching some videos--by the way, "incest" porn isn't really incest since those actors are not actually blood relatives of each other (at least, as far as I know they aren't)--is the worst thing he has done here then I really don't see much of a problem. hm? What's that you say? This makes him a hypocrite? erm...how does that make him any different than every other politician currently holding public office?

In other words, this is pretty thin and amounts to "nothing to see here". Well, nothing except a racy video.

    *************

Hillary is still on the road after having written that book titled "What Happened"--the jury is still out as to whether that is a question or a statement--and she is throwing anyone and everyone under the bus. The only person she isn't blaming is herself. I say that because, truthfully, until Comey did all that crap with the e-mail server the election was hers to lose, not Trump's to win. If she hadn't tried to have a secret e-mail server (whose primary purpose was, I suspect, to keep her communications secret not from the American public but from her boss at the time, President Obama) then she would have won, most likely.

I agree, I don't care what porn Lyin Ted watches or that he watches it. What there is is that Ted is the holier than thou type who claims to be a Christian and chastises others for not being as pious as he is. So in essence he's another type Republican projectionist. By that I mean whatever he accuses others of doing, you can bet he's doing himself. Like how you hear about the Repulican anti-gay crusaders being caught molesting men in bathrooms. Or the voter fraud Republican being caught committing voter fraud.

The thing to take away from Hillary is that she says she won't never ever run for political office again and that's fine she's entitled to her own opinions about everything else.

Presidents usually fade from politics after their term is over, and avoid the public eye in general, but failed presidential candidates do not. Al Gore, John Kerry, John McCain, and Mitt Romney are all still active in politics to this day, despite losing presidential elections years ago.

Why would we expect Clinton to drop out of politics? None of her predecessors did.

I didn't like Romney, but I never expected or asked him to go away.

Pretty simple answer to this question, at least on a widespread level. Also, giving REASONS why she thinks she lost (which is the premise of the book) is not synoymous with offering EXCUSES. And the idea she doesn't accept blame in the book is preposterous. Those just aren't the excerpts the media is repeating ad nauseam.

The media was never enamored with Romney, Kerry or McCain. They have a weird fascination with Hillary, and Gore to lesser extent. Mondale, Dukakis and Dole all went away peacefully. I don't hear a whole lot from Kerry either for that matter. McCain is still a Senator so I'd expect to hear from him on occasion.

The media is obsessed with Hillary to the extent that they love raking her over the coals and demanding some sort of arbitrary penance from her. Even after the dragon has been slain (so to speak), they are now here to piss on the corpse. If the media wasn't obsessed with her (in a negative way) no one would care about the book. It's Hillary hatred that is driving interest in this story, nothing more.

For 30 years, people have been saying she's inauthentic (guarded is a better word). Then she writes a book predicated on the idea of her being candid, and then she also gets ripped to shreds. There isn't a single thing she could have done to erase the 30-year media creation of her as an arch-evil harpy.

The US is at least as sexist as it is racist. Probably more. No woman with an opinion will be elected President in my lifetime and it makes me a sad panda.

While Hillary is ultimately responsible for setting up a private mail server, she is like thousands of executives throughout the world that have terrible IT ideas and aren't given good counsel by their IT staff. In my decades of public and private sector IT work, I have been approached regularly by bosses with terrible, insecure, unwise ideas to "get stuff done." Any IT professional worth their salt needs to be able to take requirements and provide a workable solution that makes the boss happy without exposing themselves, the company or its assets to negative outcomes. Hillary's staff failed her big time and got immunity for their testimony! Absurd.

Not only was there nothing illegal about the email server, no one has been able to even point to a law she might have hypothetically violated. It was an internal State Department policy, that both Colin Powell and Condolezza Rice had also ignored (likely because, as heads of said Department, they could choose what internal policies actually got adopted).

I find this to be a little odd, myself, given that most media sources are generally left-leaning. Why are they holding her to such a high standard? Are they going after her because she lost?

More on Bernie's proposed legislation here.

No, it's because the myth of the left-wing media is the result of the right pushing that narrative and working the refs since Nixon was forced to resign. The media is actually obsessed with "both-siderism" more than anything else. The Sunday Morning politcal shows, during the last 20 years have had a STAGGERINGLY larger number of conservatives guests on a weekly basis compared to liberals. The media has become so afraid of being called liberal, that they have gone out of their way to overbook conservative guests for decades.

Hey, if you want to see what a trial looks like about deleted emails in the government, there is one going on right now in Ontario.

Unlike Clinton's email server (where people really have no idea what those emails could have contained, and there will probably never be any charges against her or her staff on the matter), this one is to cover up an actual scandal involving the cancelation of Power Plants to tune of $1.1 Billion to save two seats. It is one of the reasons why Ontarians pay the most for Hydro in north America.

And this is one of two trials that the Liberal party of Ontario is currently involved in. The other
is a bribery scandal involving a former candidate. One of the reasons why Wynne, the Premier of Ontario is enjoying a 15% approval rating (that's right, she is worse than Trump).

Looks like just Dems so far. One thing I like about Medicaid and Medicare is that is lets a little bargaining go on for drug prices. There still needs to be more limits on the prices but at least these two programs have it a little more under control.
I am thinking that if it was all a medicaid system maybe the drug companies could be forced to lower prices a little more, given the right negotiator for states and the the feds.
It's gonna take alota arm twistin, duct tape and clothesline I think to really get those prices down TBH. But, like Bernie says, if other countries can do it, why can't we (cause capitalism rules here with drugs, Bern)?

In the same briefing today, Sarah Huckabee Sanders called for James Comey to be prosecuted, and for ESPN personality Jemele Hill to be fired. Note to all the anti-PC folks out there: THIS is when free speech starts applying In regards to the First Amendment. When the spokesman for the Executive Branch of the government starts weighing in on your employment based on your statements about the President. Not surprisingly, the exact same thing happened to Bill Maher after 9/11.

Before that statement, ESPN could have conceivably fired her (she called Trump a white supremacist on Twitter) without it being a constitutional issue. The moment Sarah Huckabee Sanders opened her mouth on the subject, it became a free speech issue. She is the Mouth of Sauron. Now, if ESPN does cave, Hill will have a valid legal case against numerous parties. To put it simply, there is now no reality that exists in which the Executive Branch hasn't offered their opinion on her employment. If ESPN fires her now, there is no possible way they can prove it wasn't because of pressure from the highest levels of the government. It's a matter of both the First Amendment and of the stupidity and amateurish nature of this White House. If they wanted Hill fired, they would have kept their mouth shut. Now, if ESPN fires Hill, they are all but guaranteed to face a lawsuit.
