@Raduziel: It's a reference to a very old comment on this forum, years ago. A user was complaining about Drizzt being too easy to defeat, but he or she apparently had removed the XP cap, which meant they could get a higher-level druid that could summon werebears who were immune to Drizzt's weapons, which was impossible in the unmodded game. People poked fun at them for modding the game to make it easier and then complaining that the game was too easy.
2 or 3 days ago i hit over 1000 hours on bg1 ee, and that is over 1000 hours played, not just 1000 hours sitting on the title menu which i notice some people do, although my bg2ee time is lacking im only at 576 or so hours on that one
I haven't touched any BG game in almost a year now, but I still have over 2,000 hours on this series. And more from before Steam, although not nearly as much, I think.
As for the Werebear thing, I think I had to resort to Google Fu to figure out the truth after it got referenced here a while ago.
well you gotta factor in the restarts, me doing abit in off line mode [ so it's more 90 had i not done that.] and not touching the game for half a year waiting for 2.5.
for the record i've had both bg 1 and 2 ee since the end of 2015.
Just to clarify, I don't actually think Caelar is a bad villain, I just think the other villains are better. I also feel like Hephernaan and Belhefit are the real villains so it's really not fair to compare Caelar with the others.
it is a +3 medium shield you can buy in the adventurer's mart from deirde that reflects beholder rays and gives you -1 to STR when you use it
making it so you basically can't lose against beholders ( although it does not deflect spells from elder orbs or hive mothers, so watch out for those imprisonment spells )
The SOB was a Collector's Edition item that was later made into a WeiDU mod and then became standard in EE. Deirdre in the Adventurer Mart and Joluv in the Copper Coronet sell some overpowered items at extremely high prices.
In SCS, beholders will eventually steal the SOB from you, but only after a few rounds. They cannot, however, steal it from a clone, so a Simulacrum clone (like from Vhailor's Helm, which Deirdre also sells) can tank beholders safely.

weird, i never used weidu to mod those shopkeepers into my game, even when bg2 first came out all you had to do was download 2 little files put into the override to have them summoned into your game, and then a few years later i believe one of the patches actually brought Deidre into the adventurer's mart by default
although if you had the special edition of SoA it would have Deidre and Joluv in your game by default
@ZaramMaldovar: I was not being serious; I also like your portrait the way it is. I just heard you say "I tried to put sunglasses on myself" and used it as an excuse to make some poorly drawn edits of our respective portraits.
I've never clocked in hours for BG on steam although I do own it on Steam. But I've played the game at least a dozen times, so to me 80 hours is definitely child's play.

Man, 80 hours is like 1/3 of an X-Com campaign.

That is pretty rookie.
Everyone is better than Melissan.
Everyone.
I respectfully disagree, but that's ok.

What Is Shield of Balduran exactly?

So THAT explains why the 5 disc BG2 my parents had contained the SOB but my DND Anthology edition did not.
The More You Know
Proof Baldur's Gate was a game ahead of its time
The Infinity Gems were a thing since the 70's. long before Baldur's Gate.
I'm sorry I tried to put sunglasses on myself, it didn't turn out well.
I appreciate it, but that's entirely unneccesary. I like my photo the way it is, unless I get a better one in the future.
While I'm at it, I'll give some cool new shades to @mlnevese, @sarevok57, @Alonso, @CamDawg, and @subtledoctor.
Of course....PUT SUNGLASSES ON ALL THE PEOPLE!
